No, there's video. Maybe you've a codec issue? GSpot tells me that it is encoded with XVID.

Its definitely XVID. When you start playing the movie (at least in WMP), it will tell you that there was an error downloading the codec, but will play anyways as long as you have XVID installed.

I started watching Skies of Hope yesterday. I'll have to download the other movie tonight.

Mine shipped yesterday from gamestop.com with the free overnight shipping (thanks to the earlier post for that code). That means it'll be here for the weekend, which is the first chance I'll really have to play it. I never played the first one, and I'm really excited to play this one considering how anxious everyone seems to be.

So, am I supposed to go to Frys after 4, or could it (sure, I know, anything COULD happen, just wanting to know if anyone has seen it yet) be out at lunchtime. I think it's gonna be raining like a mofo this afternoon, so I'd rather go at 11 or so before it starts.

I got two. Confirmed Frys N. Austin price of $39.99 (one per customer, enforced by the register) and $19.99 for the guide.

I hate Best Buy. First one (where I have the hook-up) didn't have any. 2nd one had 182. I guess they couldn't throw 40 or 50 in someone's car and have them deliver them last night.

So I go there and try my CA CompUSA printout and this girl has the audacity to check online for the price! Foiled! Knowing that CC will have it for $39.99 next week, I decided to hold onto my RZ coupons and pay full price. I'll just rebuy it next week when I go in for Naria and get the PM less RZ coupons. I'll return the new one on the old receipt. No fuss, no muss, and most importantly, no waiting.

Sigh, work again. And to think I spent my first day playing the parts I had already played in Japanese several times.

Waaaahhh!!!!

Sucks more to be me. Mines a birthday present for my daughter, and I don't get her until tomorrow night.

"Daddy? Why is this game not shrinkwrapped?:

I waited for my daughter to get home from her gymnastics class last night before I started. Didn't even start until about 7:30 and let her stay up late until 8:45 because I didn't want to stop.

I only got to
Spoiler:
the save-point before going through the door on the Sora stained glass on Day 3. I'm just going to play it slow until I get Sora & crew back, then all bets are off for the girl.

I did realize I was saying Namine's name wrong this whole time. I was saying it nah-mee-nee instead of nah-mi-nay.

I forgot to mention: Holy hell the new voice for Aerith sucks balls. Did Mandy Moore just demand a fat-ass check or something? She did a pretty good job last time (even though I hate the character with every molecule of my body).. the new girl sounds like she read the lines with no direction over a telephone. It's equally bad surrounded by such an enormous A+ voice talent.

Edit: Mena Suvari. Ouch.

So what do people think of the game? I enjoyed the first one, but only got about 6 worlds in before I moved on to other games. This version sounded like an improvement, but the IGN review gave it a 7.6, not a stellar score for a game like this, and claims that it's too easy. The reviewer says he went back through the game and beat it without using any offensive magic, and also that he managed to clear rooms with the controller sitting on a desk while he pressed the X button over and over and talked to a co-worker. According to him, too much health is dropped, the boss fights never take longer than 5 minutes (including the last boss) and the Hard (Proud?) difficulty isn't much harder than Normal.

Here's his closing comments:

I understand the eagerness of Kingdom Hearts II -- Myself, and many other guys in the office like me, were really excited when the game arrived. Plus, as someone who's played and beaten the original PS2 game in addition to the GBA title a number of times, I was definitely looking forward to the sequel. Unfortunately, once I and some of the others actually started playing through it, it became an obvious letdown.

The reason? The combat is way too simple and while the number of attacks and abilities are plentiful, they're ultimately unfulfilling and boring. Don't get me wrong, it's a beautiful title with a great story and fantastic presentation, but because of its major combat flaws (and that fact that it turns its back on exploration and most RPG elements), it does the game a great disservice.
Reactions?

His complaints were present in the first game, so I don't know what he was expecting. The first game was a button-masher, there was little exploration and very little "RPG elements." The sequel is pretty much a bigger, flashier Kingdom Hearts I.. which is what it should be. It kind of sounds like he wanted to be "that guy" that gave it a lower score. Good for him.. I bet he drives a hybrid and smells his own farts too.

You know what? That is what I loved about the first one. Just some mindless gameplay and some good old fun. I am a huge disney fan, so it makes it that much better. The production value and storyline are through the roof. If I want to be challenged, I will seek elsewhere.

I have the game and am about an hour into it, and I am loving it already.

The music in The Underworld stage is awesome!

The Gummi Ship missions are cool as hell. One stage seems to be an homage to R-Type bosses.

OK, IGN has the lowest score for a game listed at Metacritc. That's gotta be one of the signs of the Apocalypse.

Just really getting into it now, but ran into a bit of a problem. The 8MB memory card I had for about four years finally ran out of space a couple months back, so I got the "Max Memory 64mb" to not have to worry about overwriting saves to save space ever again.

Well, just got to the first save point in KH2 and it said "insufficient memory on memory card 1." My old memory was in the second port, and had about 100KB left, and it allowed me to save one there without a problem. Anyone else that has a 64MB/non-standard Memory Card having a problem with KH2, or anyone have a solution from a similar experience?

3rd party memory cards are garbage.. especially any that claim to have massive amounts of space. If there's nothing you can delete on the old card I'd just take that 64MB one back and get another Sony card.

Put in almost another hour and a half with the daughter watching last night and still no Sora, Donald, or Goofy like she was waiting for (start of the 6th day). Put her to bed, promising they'd show up soon.

My wife was already asleep at 9 so I was bored. Needless to say, I know have 2 saves - one played at my pace and one played when she can watch

Been bugging me because I can't tell, but I'm leaning towards "no"...
Spoiler:
Billy Zane still doing the voice of Ansem?
