One of the ways people seem to be trying to make up for it is by charging ridiculous shipping. I've seen some listed at $50 or more.

Priority mail of something like that in the US would be $20-$25 tops... with insurance and delivery confirmation.

I do hope the hoarders end up taking a bath at the end.

On Jan 1st at 6am I was at wal-mart in line to get an xbox 360 and they sold out a couple of people in front of me. I got a rain check, but I don't see any predictions of rain for a long time now.

I will be getting my 360 on Thursday!

I saw a 360 at my Target the other day and was THIS close to buying it. I'm not even looking to get one, but the sheer fact it was there, and in stock. I walked back by electronics fifteen minutes later and it was gone.

That's why you can't call this launch a total failure. When people who don't even want one think about plunking down the cash for a unit, MSFT has to smile.

That's exactly how I bought mine. I just went into a Best Buy on 1/3/06, looking for something totally different, and the next thing I knew, I was sitting in my truck on my way home with a premium 360 with two games sitting right next to me. I wasn't even planning on buying one of these things for at least a year or so, possibly not until I had one of the other systems.

The launch wasn't a failure in terms of people not wanting the product. It was a failure in terms of launch supply being WAY to far below demand. Doubly stupid when the whole point of MS launching now, and cutting the X-box lifespan short at 4 years, was to get a bunch of consoles in homes and get a head start on Sony. Hard to do when people that want them can't find them to buy.

I agree completely with that. I planned to get it right away, but now it looks like I probablly won't be getting an xbox 360 and ps3 till 07. I need to work out more anyways. The whole marketing scheme(that some call genius) by all the console makers has really turned me off with gaming.

P.S. i'd probablly cave in for a kotr 3. I'm a hypocrite like everyone else.

I don't think it was a marketing scheme, it was just a fuckup. They didn't feign a shortage a la Sony with PS2, they really couldn't make any.

So is it still hard to get? I'm thinking this thread has run its course.

It is still hard to acquire in my area. No stores have gotten any Premiums in that have stayed on the shelf for a couple minutes. Actually Wal-Mart is the only place getting restocked in my town other than one EB that has yet to fill all their pre-orders. When last i checked that EB had 13 people who hadn't received their pre-order yet.

Here in Boise it's still a problem. I appreciated the updates when Best Buy got new shipments, I've missed them a couple times by only 15-20 minutes. The EB and Gamestop are still 25+ people long who still haven't gotten their preorders. The Walmart's are virtually non-existant for 360's, they said they've only gotten a total of 10-15 per store since the new year.

Same here, my wife and I keep checking Walmart and there are none available. The local Kmart hasn't got any in since the very first shipment. Looks like I will have to wait.

Here in Omaha the shelves have been stocked several times at most large retailers. That said the units still only last minutes in-stock. I think this thread will be around for many more weeks.

OK I'll keep it up. Let's keep it focused on its intention so there's less noise: updates on where & how to get.

Thanks

I just checked Walmart.com and they have 2 bundles available. Neither of them seem very good to me though.

The cheaper of the two is $579 and it is the core system included in this "Live" bundle.

The premium bundle has a lot of stuff but is running $998

Jeez, I really just wanted to pick up the premium system and PD0 and Condemned. I guess the cheaper one isn't too bad since it comes with 2 games and a wireless controller and 12 months of Live. I could always pick up the HDD some other time. I just hate dropping $600 on a video game system.

My god zmiyuz I really starting to feel badly for you. Would you like me to look around for you and ship you one if at all possible?

That program I listed earlier, just let me know that two Ashville, NC stores have 360 systems in stock.

Still can't find them here in Iowa. And I'm not buying a shitty internet bundle either. I think I'm just going to end up waiting until tax return time. Hopefully they will actually be in stores by then. For longer than 5 seconds.

Good lord, finally snagged a premium today- the Best Buy inventory thing actually worked.

Actually, both the BB and the CC ones work- yesterday I went into a CC that had it 'in stock' and saw a guy walking out with the last one.

So, keep trying!

The closest I got to getting one was asking a Best Buy blue person if they had any in stock and he said "yesterday". This was last week. This store doesn't put them out on the sales floor. They leave them in the back and you have to ask for them.

Is there a program to check Circuit City's stock? Because there are no BB in the area but there is a CC.

Martin, I'll let you know for sure if i want one bad enough to pay shipping and such on it. I think my wife is enjoying the fact my wait means i haven't pulled the trigger on a large purchase. I'll let you know though if you can keep an eye out for me.

The other part of my problem is i have 120$ tied up in Ebgames gift cards so theoretically i should get the system from them. Not an insurmountable obstacle though since i could easily spend the 120 on a game, controller, other accessories etc.

Compusa in Frisco, TX claims on the radio they will have 50 systems in stock on 1/13/2006. No further details were given.
