I avoide EB/Gamestop.

When I was looking around on launch day afternoon, Each store I went in asking about systems and next shipmets, etc.

Each employee I talked to got this glaze over look in their eyes and repeated verbatium "You should have pre-ordered a system. You would have on already."

When I mentioned to one about the story where someone was told they were getting a system, but got bumped because they prepaid and the store screwed them to get more pre-order deposit money. He feined shock and said "That's not how we do business. I hope that person got fired."

I rarely go into those stores, unless I'm looking for a deal on a used game.
Any store that tries to sell me a opened game(because its the last copy and they need a display box) claiming its new isn't right in the head.

Wow, a friend of mind called around this morning and some lady freaked out on him when he mentioned reports about shipments before the weekend was over. She said she was going to call up USA Today and bitch them out herself! These salespeople are going off the deep end.

That's too funny..........never in my life have I had people get shitty with me for wanting to spend $400+ at their store before the last week and a half. It's amazing now how even mentioning that one word/number will send an employee off the deep end.

Do you have any Xbox 360s in stock?

NOOOO!!!!!!

Umm do you know when you'll get them?

NEVER!!!! GO FUCK YOURSELF ASSHOLE!!!!!

rinse, repeat

Strange how these companies have basically given their employees free riegn to be total pricks to their customers. I'm thinking if I'd acted that way when I was working in retail I may have gotten fired.

I'm sure they didn't swear at you....people are over-reacting to that. Plus, I'm sure the employees really have no idea when they are getting them.

no of course they didn't that was a total exaggeration, but it is the way It makes me feel after calling a few places everyday, and stopping by others. When I ask them I'm nice about it because I know they have no control over it. Then they are blatantly rude to me for no reason at all and make up lies about not getting them till next June and ridiculous stuff like that.

If somebody wants one bad enough, you can find them. There are plenty of tracker sites that track some online stores. A few were available yesterday at amazon.com, but yes, they were gone in just a couple minutes.

Also, Dell is taking names right now for their shipment in a couple weeks, but you have to call them.

There is no excuse for this "shortage" and what a mess Ebay is right now. Hundreds of sellers owe buyers thousands of systems and they are just waiting for the shipments. So basically gamers are competing with ebayers for these. If only M$ released a ton at launch, this would have been avoided.
I would be happy if they would have pushed launch back further to february and had enough units.

But as of right now, im with the general concensus:

Worst. Launch. Ever.

And i honestly don't know if I believe that we will see 2nd shipment this week. It would seem too good to be true, no?

Every launch is the "Worst. Launch. Ever."

So the question is why do you need 5 systems?

That's because no one was lining up to get one.

Granted the last game console that I bought new for myself was the Atari VGS... before it was called the 2600, back in 1981. (my last used console was a Genesis/32x/CD combo... and game systems for my kids don't count... I never played them)

Another reason why some may want it NOW, is because it is the end of the year. For some, school is winding down, workload at work is tapering off as year-end freezes and vacations kick in. This time of year may offer the most time available to be able to play games. After the holidays, things usually ramp up pretty quickly.
