I noticed there is at least one setting not listed that needs to be changed. The radar/motion sensor thingy should be turned off for these pro gametypes.

So I've picked the game back up after not playing for a couple months and I actually have a roommate that will play the game and has his own Xbox. I had him playing split screen with me over the weekend which completely fucked me up, but I've talked him into getting his own copy, he sucks big time but I'm sure he'll come around once he's got his own screen to watch. So we'll be on tonight I hope to see some of you online.

Damm Bean that's a freaking shame. Are you going to try and swap out the drive or send it to MS? I went on E-Bay just to see and they have a few Samsungs and Thompsons. Well that's cool. I saw several places for the Thompson but I thought Bean may want tos tay with the Samsung. Yea $28 is a pretty good price. Speaking of price and Doom. Sorry I missed the invite. I probably had Doom on hold and went looking on the pc for a tip. I shut down the DSL before going back on Doom. I dropped by Game Crazy the other day just to look around and they had just lowered the price on several games including Doom3. I got the CE "mint" for $24.50 So far I've been impressed. Just needed something different and a break from UT2. Need to get back on Halo with you guys also.

Since XBL is down today I took the opportunity to check out Bungies forum to see how many idiots were blaming this on bungie and my suspicions were correct ....there were at least 5 threads on the opening page about WTF?? Halo2 isn't working lol people are stupid didn't EVERYONE get the message about this being down.

Anyhow if anyone needs a good laugh head over there; I had forgotten that all the cheaters and people who generally suck ass at this game all post there and cry about unfair weapons and maps they hate all day but still find time to join my games and quit out because they think I'm modding as a direct result of me being better than them ;)

Not whining, but a different perspective for you from me :).
I think they need to update the weapons once again as well as the ranking system.

The weapon combo that I have the biggest problem with is the ever so cooly named "n00b combo." The charge plasma + 1 bullet from the battle rifle and you are dead. The most annoying thing about Live Halo 2 right now. Sure it is legit, but it doesn't make it any less annoying.

Second most annoying thing? Mis-matched ranked players in a match. For example, I hover around a level 18-22, well the other night I was playing what looks like players in the same gametype ranking, but no. Look at their actual Level and it is 38 and up. WTF? It was almost every match. It got to the point to where when a match started I would pause and check out the other players before even starting to run around.

So it would look like this:
Me: Team Slayer level 18 - overall level 19
player B: Team Slayer ranking 15 - overall level 37
player C: Team Slayer ranking 17 - overall level 35
player D: Team Slayer ranking 23 - overall level 32

I think this is the cause of so many quitting lately. Before the last month I had quit maybe 3 matches total in the past year. The past month? Probably close to a dozen. I can appreciate someone kicking my ass legitimately that is ranked higher, it is the only way I will get better. It is just unreal to be dumped into a match with someone 20 levels higher than you. 5 or 6 is reasonable. 20 is fucking insane. I just don't care about the quitting stigma anymore. If I'm going to lose by 30, who fucking cares? How fun is that for the other team anyway? The past two times I played on Live(3+ hours each) I spent the entire night losing to players like this. Add in a couple matches filled with cheaters(flying across the screen and shit), then a few more filled with de-levelers on your team and you have a night filled with frustration. Halo 2 has not been fun for me for at least a month.

Your overall level should determine what rank you have in the gametypes, not vice versa. So if you are a 36 in Rumble Pit but only a 12 in Team Slayer, you should be playing amongst 36s in Team Slayer, not 10-18s. If you are good enough to make it that high of a level in one gametype to make it that high, then you can more than handle yourself in the others.

The team hardcore is would be a nice change of pace, actually getting some teamball & king of the hill matches, but playing the 30s-40s is too tedious for my tastes.

I understand your perspective Corvin don't get me wrong that shit is annoying as hell especially during and after the game hearing them tell you how bad you suck but still if it's team play then I won't quit because I don't want to leave the rest of my team stranded.

one thing I've noticed lately is that I can play a game of TS or Rumble pit and beat the hell out of people and later find out that they are ranked way higher than me overall be it in Big Team or Team Skirmish or whatever the point is some of these people have been running with WAY better players just to get their rank up which in and of itself is pathetic.

The modders are bullshit, and supposedly they are the reason why you would want to get way up in the ranking of the gametype you like to play because from what I understand their accounts get banned before they make it that high it's just us people who are ranked in the teens and low twenties that have to deal with this crap.

The "n00b Combo" is a constant pain in my ass....I have tried it and been successful with it but I've decided for myself that it requires almost no skill at all and therefore I don't use it. The only time it really pisses me off is when some fkn twelve year old doesn't know how to use any other weapon besides that generally I make it a point to punk them out as often as possible just to make sure they don't have any fun playing at all.

The Team Snipers thing drives me up the wall with rage. Everytime I go in by myself I get in a group with people who are together and one of three things happen 90% of the time.
1) Kids decide they don't like the map and quit right away
2) Get down by two or three frags and they quit
3) kids get pissed because they don't like the map so they teamkill until you boot them.

I can't stand that shit, I'm not always thrilled about the map that was selected for me but I don't shit on everyone else as a direct result. Anyhow this is alot better when you have at least one other person you know in your group because two on four in snipers can be a huge advantage assuming the guys you're playing against aren't level 40 or something.

i agree 99% of the peope on live suck balls. thats why i like customs with all the guys from here. me and martin5's room mate (the new room mate not the rainbow boy) played the other day and got some droppers and teamkillers and worst of all the guys with the retarded muisc playing just to piss you off.

oh and i hacked apart my xbox after calling ms and having them tell me they want $80 to fix it and i pay for shipping there. i did some hacking and now have an adjustable pot until my new drive gets here. i think i'm going to order a clear case and some leds to tweak it while i've got it ripped open. so now when i play a game sometimes i have to turn the pot up or down to get it to read. oh and if you're having problems i can send instruction on how to make yourself an adjustable pot knob in your box so you don't have to open the dvd drive every time you need to adjust.

I know this isn't the "360" forum but I'm asking anyway. Who here is getting it? I was dead set on it about amonth ago but now I'm having second thoughts. I just get this feeling that it's being rushed a bit, some games are being pushed back, there will be a shortage of hardware, and of course there has to be "bugs". Anyone else has this feeling?

Besides I've got one question for "Bean" and other tech savy chaps here. I've read where several DEV's are having issues with the 360 games compression because of the absence of a standard hard drive and lack of a DVD-HD/Blu-Ray drive. This is one area the PS might have an advantage proving the DVD format war is settled. If it is it only seems natual that MS will try to incorporate in the 360 ASAP. I'd just like to hear ya'll's take take on this. No matter what I think I'll play it safe and have a wait and see approach. Besides the old "X-Box" still has plenty of life in it.

The weapon thing that always gets me is the sword. It is such an unbalanced weapon in the game.

Every other power weapon in the game, Rocket Launcher, Brute Shot, Sniper rifle, all have limited ammo that you need to reload. Pick up the sword, and if you don't die, you have unlimited power and easy kills all game.

It should be like the sword in the campaign, it has a battery that drains with usage.

Also, the matchmaking sucks the way they match people up.

Effective rank for matchmaking = Rank of current playlist chosen + Highest Overall rank / 2 (drop any fractions and just use the whole number)

So, if you are going into Big Team Battle and your rank is 18 in that, But your highest overall rank is 25

Your effective rank to match you up would be 18 + 25 = 43 /2 = 21

Sure, it might still be a little unbalanced, but you'd probably get many more people around your skills.

I can't count the number of nights I'm in a party and get get guys on the other team that are all ranked 15-18 in the play list, but their highest level is 30-33. How is that fair?

I agree with the sword comment whole heartedly but people get stupid when it comes to confrontations with the sword too, for example I was playing on Beaver Creek and I had a sword and a sniper rifle (Fiesta) I stood behind the base basically the entire game and waited for the morons to keep running right back through thinking they were going to get me. Yeah my best spree was 14 or 16 I don't remember. But I won that game 25 to 13.......

If I see a guy with a sword I try to make sure I keep my distance and If he gets me once I make sure I don't go back for more, there are far more effective ways of dealing with a sword.

Something will need to be done for matchmaking in Halo3 like ummm maybe listing servers :D So you can choose to play whatever you want whenever you want.
