This game is awesome. I think it's a really good blend of FPS and survival horror. I don't know if it's totally lived up to the hype, but it's pretty damn good. I really like the dark, moody atmosphere. I'm playing it on High detail at 1280x1024 and it plays pretty smooth. I don't know what frames I'm getting, but it looks good. (comp specs below)
I also just upgraded my speakers to 5.1 and the sound is awesome too. Newegg.com had a sale on some Logitech 5.1 speakers and they sound really good. They aren't on sale anymore, but they are still at a pretty good price if anyone is looking for a good, cheap 5.1 setup.

My specs:
P4 3GHz
ATI 9800XT 256MB
1GB DDR400 RAM
Audigy 2

I played it yesterday and it was awesome.
Ran it at 1280x1024 2xAA High quality on an AMD FX51, 1GB DDR3200, 6800GT
ran smooth, the lighting is fantastic, and the sound is beautifully done. Best environment in an FPS that I've ever experienced.

I've been playing the game non-stop and I gotta say this is the best single player FPS ever!. It's not just the graphics and the engine that are outstanding, the sound, the atmostphere, and the story really carry the game to a new level. I'm on the ninth level I believe and I've been playing with the lights off the entire time and the sound cranked, and there's been time's where I've literally jumped out of my chair.

I'm well into the game today. It just gets creepier and creepier!!! The graphics are amazing! I'm not a big PC gamer...but my computer can handle so I was like what the hell I'll give it a try. I love using the keyboard and mouse. You have so much MORE control with aiming!
I just wish I could use both the flash light and gun at the same time. It's DARK down there!

I'll probably go buy the game later this week. I loved playing Doom 2 with my brothers; hopefully this will be just as good!
Was anybody else surprised at how low the system requirements were? Honestly, I was expecting much higher.

Ok, now I am more envious than ever. Two questions:
Will it play on a AMD 2.0ghz with 512 of pc 2500 with an ATI 8500 pro (64mb)?
When is the XBOX version due out?
I am definately not in the market to upgrade the computer so if not I will wait for the XBOX release.

I looked through the booklet and did not see reference to any control to quickly switch between 2 weapons/items. Does the F key work just for when you're holding the flashlight?

There is no date for the Xbox version... some say it'll be done by the end of the year, others say it might slip to next year.

I just picked it up during my lunch break. My rig should run it OK at best.
P4 3 ghz
1 gig Corsiar 3500 XMS DDR Ram
Audigy 2
Radeon 9700 Pro 128mb - pretty pathetic.
Can't find the Nvidia 6800 Ultra GT anywhere though I am not surprised.

My computer is only a 1.2 ghz(below minimum requirements) and I am shocked it runs pretty well on low settings. I did not have the money to upgrade so I thought I would give a shot and it worked. Now that is not saying I won't run into problems later on in the game, but what the hell the game is amazing.

I just picked it up as well. Hopefully my rig will run it:
Thinking Machine laptop (686 prototype)
Artificial intelligence Risk chip
5GB Ram
GeForce3 Ti 200 32mb
What's my limiting factor?

I just stop playing. My location right now is ALpha labs - Sector 4. I haven't had too much trouble with the ammo....just need to make my shots count.

BTW - mine came with three discs, although it was a four-disc holder. I assume mine isn't missing a disc? Can anyone confirm?

Just the three discs. You're not missing anything.
