Just like a burning American Flag or any icon that repersents a group. I remember back in high school playing Doom2 and yes it was EVIL but fun and it's only a video game. I don't see the need to deface a crucifix, regardless of it being only a game.
Except that i don't really see how it deals with morals. Respect, maybe, but based on the nature of the game and the fact you go to Hell, it seems appropriate to me. If anything, maybe the developers would be glad that it irked you since it matches the tone of the game

I hear ya. I suppose I was a bit overly sensitive. But you're right...you're in "HELL"

I love the dig site design! I just wish the used that alittle more! I hope they bring the fight back to Earth I would love to play fight demons in open streets and other urban layouts. Had id mentioned anything yet regarding Doom 4?

The only thing I've heard them say is that they are going to work on a new IP. So it's not going to be a Doom or Quake game. I guess they could always license out Doom 4 to another developer like they did with Quake 4 and RTCW.

Saw this on Blue's News (looks like it's on Slashdot as well now).

http://ducttape.glenmurphy.com/

Adds a light to the shotgun and machine gun. Brighter but narrower beam than the flashlight.

My friend told me he went on a 12 player server and at spawn he got telefragged, and then the person that telefragged him got telefragged. Funny stuff.
That was the type of stuff that used to have me giggling like a schoolgirl at like 3am when I would pull an all nighter on Quake 3 in college... I just may have to toss a few upgrades at my PC to play this game (bump up to an Athlon 3200 and a shiny new video card...my 64mb Geforce 4200TI ain't gonna cut it...) besides, when I built this beast (to play half life 2 last year, which still hasn't happened) I stuck with an older video card so i could upgrade specifically for Doom 3...and I don't know why, since I play games like once a month now anymore...but I NEED this game. Everything Carmack and ID have done before has warranted a purchase...

This game barely squeeks by on my machines. My video card and memory is up to par, but my processor is a little slow (1.4 ghz). The framerate is really low in some parts and it gives me a heacache. Despite that, it still looks pretty darn good on my machine on a low resolution.

This game is intense as hell. Before I enter each room I peer around with my flashlight looking for monsters. That never works no matter how slow and careful I go; I keep getting surprised by monsters jumping out at me. This game is definetely not good for my heart.

I kind of like how you can't hold a flashlight and a gun at the same time. It makes the game more difficult and you are constantly faced with a dilemma: light so you can see the monsters coming at you, or the gun where you can try to kill them before they reach you.

My computer now definitely can't handle this game, but I have been meaning to build a new comp. for quite some time now. I will probably be upgrading in the next month or so to play games like Doom 3 (Half-Life 2, Far Cry). Can't wait to finally play some PC games again.

Finished the game yesterday, which says a lot as I rarely finish games anymore. This one is a perfect length for me. Save anywhere. Genuine scares. Killer graphics and sound. Good stuff.

Out of the box multiplayer is crap. Laggy and simplistic. Also with only 4 slots open on a server by the time you ping it and join, the server is full, happens constantly.

I finally had a chance to play this for an hour the other day. Both the graphics and atmosphere definitely live up to the hype, but the game itself is unremarkable at best. Absent the aesthetics, this is a decade-old piece of software.

Completely agree! I set my preferences (for example NO passwords, Deathmatch etc...)

I refresh, log on, start killing and what do I see in chat? "Dood, this is Team DM"

I exit, and 3/4 of the servers have #$%#^ passwords on...

Oh well

EDIT: I checked out the Gamespot forums and it's too funny! Some people are actually too scared to play the game for more than 30 minutes or not at all!!

Sadly, i am one of them. I play only about 15-30 mins per session. More than that, i don't think my heart can take it. I use to think Silent Hill was scary but this one is probably the scariest game i've played. Every part of the game it makes my heard pound like crazy. After 30 mins, my hands are cold. But its one hell of a game (no puns intended). I use a Sennheiser earphones and also play it in the dark.

In that case, don't ever play Half-Life. In addition to nasty crawly things jumping out at you, they do stuff to their victims that make you want to stay the **** away from them.

And then there's the barnacles. Imagine you're walking along and you see a glimpse of a rope-like thing... you walk closer, only to have it grab you and start dragging you upwards. You realize too late that it's a long, dangling tongue... and you look upwards to see an enormous jaw and teeth that take a chomp out of your head.

They're all over the place, and you just don't get used to that - ever. These things creeped me out so badly that, after finishing it over the course of a harrowing weekend, I found myself checking the ceilings of indoor buildings for dangling rope-like things... in the real world.

Let me put it this way: I can blow through an hour of Doom 3 with a few jump-startles but no serious nerve-rattling. I can't bring myself to play through Half-Life again.

Strange, HL never scared me at all. Graphics were too primitive maybe. Loved the game though. The part where the commandos are rapelling down out of the copter firing at you was a classic gaming moment of all time for me.

Doom3 on the other hand has those damned winged babies! (cherubs) Totally freak me out. I do not like them a bit.

As Doom 3 progresses it tends to get a lot more evil feeling than any other game I have played. I like killing evil shit but it still freaked me out a bit. Did I mention those damn babies?

The evil voice towards the end stopped being scary cause I have been smoking his minions for hours. "Own my soul"? Not a chance evil dude. It would have been cool if you could threaten him!

The only hassle I've had with the game is that it's REALLY DARK, and you can't have a gun in your hand while your using the flashlight.

WHO'S IDEA WAS THAT??? &
