You're gonna need a better video card.

Yeah, that's like putting Z-rated tires on a Ford Escort.
In any case, I won't be buying Doom 3 for a while. I'm gonna wait until there's a special or something. I've seen it online for $45. And it may go even lower or a Prima Guide might be bundled with it in a few months.
I currently only have a dual 1Ghz Mobo with 1GB RAM, and a BFG 5900XT OC video card, but I should do ok. A faster processor would be nice though.
vhgong,
I bet you get it from EB sooner than Amazon. Amazon sucks ass for pre-orders.

This game is indeed amazing! I wouldn't say ground breaking...it's still a FPS, but with the smooth graphics, creepy level design and interesting story ...it's one awesome game. It's a great horror shooter!

I think as gamers, we have everything to gain if makers makes games like these.

The aliasing is a bit more noticable then i thought they would be, especially after HardOCP's hardware guide said Anti-aliasing wasn't that important. The characters look great, especially their faces. Very detailed, except for some blocky heads. The game is VERY dark. It's incredibly hard to see enemies, and since you cant have a flashlight and gun on at the same time, its really easy for guys the get a jump on you. The sound is great... a lot of ambient sounds, screams, and voices. Glad i have 5.1 speakers on my PC.
So far the game runs well on my computer at 1024x768 at High Quality. A few dips here and there in frames, but nothing too dramatic. I'm ususally hovering around 40 frames most of the time, with some drops to the 20's and some rises to the 50's.
My system:
Mobile Athlon XP 2600 @ 2.33 ghz
1 gig RAM
Radeon 9700 Pro

Man, this game freaks me out sometimes. Nothing like walking down a hall and hearing someone whisper "Come over here" out of my rear speakers. I'm really glad I bought some 5.1 speakers. Really helps with the immersion.
