Where is the buzz with DOOM 3?

To answer the topic, I think two things are killing the buzz (though there still seems to be a good bit).
1. There's just not a ton of buzz for PC games anymore. They still sell well, and there's still a good bit of buzz, but there's no near the amount of buzz for a big time PC release (like Doom 3) as there is for a big console release (like a GTA game).
2. The high system specs probably keep some non-hardcore PC gamers from bothering right now as they don't want to/can't afford to upgrade or buy/build a new system at the moment.

4 Player deathmatch, thats it. The Xbox version will have COOP play.
The reason why there is no COOP play in the PC version was supposibly there wouldnt be enough room for more than one player to be running around in the levels, so for the XBOX they had to redesign the levels.

Suspended; also need updated email
the problem is that min specs are only to get the game to run without crashing
to get the game to run properly and smoothly as intended takes much high specs i would imagine

It appears that if your system can run the game modestly, it is still well-worth the trip. But yeah, obviously the experience will be more intense on the better rigs.

I'd call Tech Support at id. I'm sure they're more than willing to help you out with your bootlegged software!

As for the system requirements, as stated earlier, the game can be enjoyed with the minimum requirements. While you definitely need some heavy duty hardware to play it in all its glory, Doom 3 still looks incredibly at low detail and low resolutions. I think people are drastically overestimating the need to upgrade to play this game.

Been playing it the last couple of hours, and it's definitely an amazing looking game. Still, it just doesn't feel like what I remember of Doom/Doom 2. The first part of it plays like Half-Life or Halo. I haven't played Doom 2 since a couple of months after it came out (And that was what, eight or nine years ago?) but I remember it playing more like, in comparison to a more modern game, Painkiller.
This game definitely has me on the edge of my seat, but it just feels more like Silent Hill or Resident Evil. Maybe it's just the graphics make Doom 3 far more immersive, but I remember just plowing through Doom 2 and not worrying about what was behind every corner.
I'm definitely not complaining. I'm loving the terror this game's immersive graphics and sound instill. But it simply isn't what I was expecting from my vague memory of the old Doom 2, and even the shareware floppy demo of Doom.
As others have said, there was a lot of overestimation on hardware requirements. I recently upgraded everything but my video card, and even with a two year old video card it's running fine on the high setting.

I got a AMD 1800+, 768 MB ram, and ATI Radeon 9500.
Well, it runs. I have it set to 640x480 with most of the effects on. It's choppy once in awhile, but it's playable. It would look much nicer though if I can get the resolution higher. The game is so dark, and the atmosphere is great. I get a little annoyed switching back and forth between my weapon and the flashlight. It does the trick if you like scary games.
