Re: Ghosts (CBS remake of BBC show) Oct 2021

I will just say that the end scene was very abrupt and makes me wonder if one of the recurring ghosts is stepping away from the show (but it could be one of the TB ghosts that are relegated to the basement, who knows). I have not kept up with news on this show so I am not aware of any behind the scenes drama. I have to imagine that some of these actors are now in demand having been on this show.

Without spoiling and providing no context I want to say that one of the best lines in the show last night is when a ghost says to Samantha, this is not heaven?

I think they left it open for the viewer to guess who it could have been considering the way the b and c stories kind of concluded.

Also speculation that it could be a guest who died (if there were any guests at the time) or a new ghost getting pulled in through some opening.

Saw an article that made the case that the one who was sucked off was

Spoiler:
Nigel.

The argument went that he found closure to his death when Isaac proposed and completed his purpose of making Isaac comfortable with being who is is. Of course, it could be Alberta or Hettie since they both resolved their inner conflicts, but the argument for Nigel does make sense.

Just a reminder that CBS is airing the original UK "GHOSTS" series that inspired this show starting Nov 16th. If you haven't seen it yet check it out. It looks like they are running eps back to back so you get 1 hr of Ghosts UK. My fear is to make space for ads on CBS they will chop the show a bit. It aired full 30min eps in the UK with no ads.

BTW, it seems that Ghosts UK is no longer on MAX streaming and I don't see it on Paramount +. So this may be the only way to catch it for the time being.

Ghosts UK officially moves to Paramount+ on November 16th too.

Thanks. Yeah i assumed it would stream on Paramount +. But wasn't sure if that meant all the UK seasons/series would be added right away.

Will we finally get the last season of Ghost UK on the 16th?! I am still not the biggest fan of the US version but love the original.

It sounds like they may only be releasing one episode per week instead of them all at once. So, it may be a while before we get to see the fourth season.

Evidently there are two seasons we in the States missed. The fourth season and the final fiffh season, it would have been nice to have the fourth on Max since it was completed before they lost the rights.

The UK eps, 4 so far, are being shown in their original format, uncut without ads I'm remembering how good this version is. Both shows are great. They are similar but still so different in terms of the humor.

I wonder how expensive this show is to produce. The cast for every episode is so huge.

Probably why sometimes some of the ghosts aren't in some episodes. The cast got raises for the upcoming season:

Unless their individual contract stipulates that they will only appear in a specific number of episodes, and will only be paid for those episodes, the main credited cast of TV series will be paid for the entire season, no matter how much they work. According to that Deadline story, the base pay for the eleven regular cast members will be $1.4 million. I guess that may not be so much, considering past casts of big hit sitcoms made a million each per episode. But I have no conception of anything on network TV being that kind of hit anymore. I like Ghosts a lot, but catch up on it with streaming. I've never heard or read anyone talking about it.

A large ensemble is more expensive in the beginning but cheaper in the long run when contracts come up for renewal. An actor getting too big for his britches? Lowball him a renewal contract and if he doesn't sign, move on to other cast members.

The ghostly members of the cast are all easily replaceable and they know that.

Except they all just did a group walk-out because they hadn't gotten pay raises, and all their salaries went up to $100K

I disagree about the actors playing the ghost being replacable. At the last scene of season two when it shows that one of them might have been "sucked off" I can't think of one of them that I would want to leave. Each actor plays their character perfectly.

If they had to replace the actress who plays Flower, I think they could do that since her face is kinda hidden and she uses a hippie voice.

In terms of the ghost characters, i could do without Flower and Thorfinn. I don't think she adds a lot, and he just annoys me.

If we're talking about removing characters, get rid of the Viking. There's nothing more you can do with that character without turning the show into a silly farce.
