I kind of imagine that is the problem. I expect the actors on Curb have no restraint on their on-set profanity and "offensive" joke making. Then he gets to The Goldbergs set and he doesn't want to do a 180 on what he sees as just adults joking around.

What does anyone imagine the set of Curb has been like with Garlin, Susie Essman, Super Dave, Richard Lewis, etc around?

The show had long run it's coarse anyway. I'm still slowly making my way through the end of season 8 and was planning on pulling the plug after the Segal tribute episode.

As it turns out I had pretty much also stopped watching the show after the tribute episode and a week or two back I realized I had no desire to catch up and just deleted it from my xfinity dvr season pass. With the news that Garlin was booted off the show; I feel vindicated in my recent decision to have stopped watching and moving on to other shows.

Re: The Goldbergs (ABC) - Season 9
We still watch this but like others have said it's 3 years past the time it should have gone out to pasture. Garlin's appearances this season were so brief it was obvious something was going on and a lot of his scenes didn't even have anyone else in them. Just shots directly on him like they did them as pickup shots later in the day after everyone else had gone home.
They could easily get rid of his character by just saying he went to a furniture convention or something and got in a car crash or something. Bring in uncle whomever to help out who decides to stay. Charlie Sheen would be fun but I think that set has seen enough drama.

I haven't watched the Conners in a long time, is Dan still single?
If so, kill off Murray and do a Brady Bunch kind of merge of the two families.

Think of all the new storylines they can have when Beverly starts dating again. It can go a few more seasons just based on that.

Dooku, that is great. As someone who very much enjoyed Married With Children's post Steve Rhoades episodes I approve of this suggestion.

The show will not end well not matter what happens now.
I really don't think they can kill off Murray in the current setting as the real Murray died in 2008, and I can't see how they can continue the show without him.
I think it just ends after this season. They'll either end he last episode with some sort of sloppy makeshift closure for the series, or they'll just play it out as the originally intended season finale (minus Murray) without the closure.
It really should've ended a long time ago. Beverly being controlling and smothering in 80% of the storylines made this long overdue.

Jeff Garlin has been replaced by his regular stand-in to wrap up his character's story on ABC's The Goldbergs. The body double stood in for Garlin's body, while the 59-year-old comedian's face will later be digitally superimposed
They also claimed that using CGI to replace his face over the stand-in was not a new practice and had been done multiple times in the past. The scenes filmed with the stand-in are set to wrap up Garlin's run on the series.
In his lengthy interview with Vanity Fair, Garlin defended himself following an alleged altercation with two stand-ins, but it's unclear if the person who replaced him in the episode was one of those people.
It hasn't yet been revealed whether The Goldbergs will be renewed for a tenth season, but the series is reportedly getting an extra four-episode order for the ninth season, bringing it to a total of 22 episodes.
'It feels a little surreal that he will never be here again but the mood on the set is ecstatic,' said a person who witnessed the visit. 'In fact several people cheered when the execs said that Jeff would not be returning.'

Sounds like they'll have 4 episodes without Jeff Garlin at all to the end the season. Maybe Beverly and all the kids will go on cross country trip or something while Murray stays home.

That's A-#1 super-duper network thinking right there.
We just fired one of the stars of the show. Writing storylines around his departure will be difficult. Let's order four more episodes for this season!

If 18 was the original, then 18 would have been the FINALE. So I think they shoot these 4 and air BEFORE the finale.
That makes sense? I think so.
