Re: The Goldbergs (ABC) - Season 9

Adam’s girlfriend showed up at the school with a new character 2eps ago and he was in the recent one too.
From what I remember he has never been seen before and I don’t think anyone even said his name.

Also this show had a certain charm and likability to ALL the Characters and since they let the Real Adam go several characters are becoming increasingly unlikable.

I have not caught up on the past few episodes, but what do you mean that the show let the Real Adam go? If you do not mind my asking.

Adam F. Goldberg, I believe, is no longer involved with the production of the show. That's why you don't see the actual Goldberg home movies before the closing credits anymore.

The real life Adam is still an executive producer on the show, I think, but he stepped down as the main showrunner a couple years ago.

Re: The Goldbergs (ABC) - Season 9

Maybe the problem is that Goldberg was spinning yarns based on real incidents from his life, which always gave the stories a certain amount of heart, and now the writers are just making up what they think are funny jokes, leading to a lot more mean-spirited behavior and insults, and a tacked on happy ending.

I totally forgot about the home video clips at the end of each episode. Been a while since I've seen them.
Maybe he ran out of relevant footage to show.

I always found the old footage of the real Adam Goldberg as a kid a little disturbing. It really seems like he had a mental disability or something.

As mentioned a handful of times a couple of posts back he no longer is part of this show so they don’t have his home videos anymore.

He's still a "part", he's an executive producer. He stepped down as the showrunner in 2019.

I doubt he has any input in the show.

He came back briefly for some of Season 2 of Schooled after they fired Tim Doyle, but left shortly after, He hasn't been apart of Goldbergs since I think season 6

It is a union title requirement, Will Smith is executive producer for Cobra Kai. Little to no input but the person is paid anyway.

Just because he's no longer a showrunner, doesn't mean they couldn't use his old footage if they wanted to (and AFG was ok with it).
I don't think anyone has confirmed why old footage is no longer being used.

Usually the old footage was illustrating how the episode was based on a real event from his life. I don't think they are basing episodes on things that happened to the real Goldbergs very much anymore, if at all. I can't think of much that has happened on the show this year that I would suspect is based on something real.

Garlin addresses accusations of inappropriate behavior on The Goldbergs

Interesting because if you watch the last episode, it appears that Garlin is not filming any of his scenes with any other cast members on set.

That’s weird.
I haven’t seen this ep yet but there have been other episodes the last couple of years that looks like he is filming separate from the people he is in scenes with.

I remember one where Adam and Bev were going at it in the kitchen, and Murray was at the dining table, but he was holding a newspaper to block his face. And every time Murray had a line, they cut to him in a single, dropping the paper to speak. It struck me as really weird.

It's really gonna suck if he turns out to be an asshole, 'cuz I just read an interview with him in a guitar magazine. He's auctioning off a bunch of his guitars for charity, and he has some really good ones, including the Fender Joe Strummer Esquire replica he got because he's such a big Clash fan. C'mon, please don't tell me that someone who likes The Clash is a jerk. Please?

Re: The Goldbergs (ABC) - Season 9

I wonder if he sometimes forgets or doesn’t realize the set of Goldbergs is or should be different form the set of Curb.

Also I guess these days it isn’t possible to be simply a good person who is a hugger, can’t so it anymore.

...and Jeff Garlin is out. Wonder how they'll explain that.

The real Murray died so maybe they’ll just kill him off.

Re: The Goldbergs (ABC) - Season 9

Apparently he only had one day of shooting left on the season.

I'd love it if they ended the show after this season, with Adam off to NYU Film School and maybe Barry off to med school. The end. But no, they'll probably milk this thing long after it's prime, which was about 3 years ago.

Re: The Goldbergs (ABC) - Season 9

I only casually watch The Goldbergs. I’m more wondering about his role on Curb Your Enthusiasm being impacted.
