Re: SNL General Discussion Thread
I've had that on YTTV for awhile now but never saw any SNL on it yet.

Edit: looks like it starts Monday with best of shows.

Sorry yes it starts next week.

I hope they show it from the beginning and not just shows from the 2010's and 2020's.

Cool, thanks for the heads up, I can get that channel with my OTA antenna (in case their YouTube channel is region blocked to US only, I'll have to check that).

Too bad Alex Moffat might never get a shot at hosting unless he blows up but he has a steady but not spectacular post SNL career.

MK.GEE? Never heard of him/her/them
So much for superstar-only line-up for the 50th, I guess.

Me neither, no idea who that is. Great, now we'll probably get celebrity shamed by Dooku.

I bet the Charlie XCX double duty show will be awful.

Do I need to start paying rent for the space I take up in your heads?

By the way, my "celebrity shaming" was never about people not knowing who these young, newer artists are. IDK who a lot of them are. What I consistently criticized was the attitude that if someone did not know who these artists are, then these artists are not worth knowing or worthy of the SNL spotlight.

I never mentioned you, referenced you or thought of you - unless you happened to be the person who definitively stated that nobody would host or be MG in Season 50 unless they were a superstar, in which case you were incorrect.

So no, you don't have to worry about living rent free in my head.

That was me. I would want to go back and check if I included MGs, but I definitely thought Lorne would only be pulling out big guns for this celebrated season. But you have already made reference to my incorrect prediction before, so . . .

And this is the MG. I never heard of him. Those of you who want rock acts should be satisfied. He plays the guitar and has been compared to Clapton.

He also has 2.4 million monthly listeners on Spotify, not to mention elsewhere. I have no clue who he is, but he seems famous enough for the little SNL stage.

My bill is in the mail! It won't be much, because you are only in my head when I read someone commenting about an SNL host/musical guest they've never heard of, and wait for you to swoop in and school them on their ignorance.

Yeah, but we're probably right at least 90% of the time. This guy seems to be in the rock genre though, and that's rare on SNL these days, so I'll definitely give him a chance.

And if Chappell Roan had been on at the end of season 49, instead of the start of season 50, there would have been a bunch of "who the fuck is this?" and "why are they having her on?" posts.

Most of the time I have some idea but Mk.Gee I had no clue.

I thought maybe it was a singer from a Korean Boy Band since they are so popular these days.

I don’t know, she could really slut things up. I’ll be watching just for her, I hate the show, and would watch the cast be set on fire.

Deep dive if you remember his only season though feel for him getting fired and how painful that must be.

Garrett Morris is not a fan of the current SNL

Quote:
Original Saturday Night Live cast member Garrett Morris is not a fan of the show's current season.

"I don't see the courage, the experimental impulses," the member of the group known as the Not Ready for Prime Time Players told The Guardian. "That was the whole core of what happened the first 10 years. I keep expecting it to attack in a funny way and bring out the foibles not only of individuals, but of the government and all that. And nowadays, although people still check it out, I think they’re catering to too many people too much of the time."
