Sounds like Punkie Johnson won't be returning:

While I'm admittedly not a fan of the show, it still surprises me when there's a cast member (now former) who is completely unknown to me. The name doesn't ring even the slightest of bells.

Same
I watched parts of maybe three eps this past season
No idea who that is but the bigger story is why’s she was uncomfortable on the set.
Probably addressed in the article if I were to read it.

I actually know who that is. Writing that off as her having an interesting name and Mikey Day never showing cleavage like Punkie did that one time.

I read it for both of us. She made the announcement at a recent stand-up show. It's all a bit second hand, but the only issues cited were about being urged to "lose her dreads and stop getting buff." But that's a quote from a Twitter user at the show. The problem with telling a black woman to cut her dreads is obvious and the "buff" seems linked to her being gay. Do I think either of those things would make life uncomfortable for someone on SNL? Yes, absolutely. It wouldn't surprise me at all.

Re: SNL General Discussion Thread

Punkie Johnson has been on the show for four years, and if she has had five memorable, very funny moments, I don't know what they are. She should be grateful for the paycheck and the platform.

I was not a fan or despise her but I was hoping maybe Molly Kearney was leaving.

Not surprised to see Punkie go, she was never really given much to do, whatever the reason may have been for that.

Punkie Johnson was being used a lot more the last season, but it's not a major loss.
Molly Kearney's pretty irrelevant - so I won't even notice the absence.

They'll notice the difference at 30 Rock. I guarantee you Kearney was destroying the toilets in the women's restrooms.

They're not a woman though. Maybe they had some other accommodations, or they may have split their time between the women's and men's restrooms.

For the purposes of my joke, I have classified Kearney by sex, not gender.

Re: SNL General Discussion Thread

Andrew Dismukes has to go

He seems like he could be a cool guy or he showed something in his stand up or other area but he is not really funny on SNL.

I just hope Chloe Fineman does not leave.

Marcello Hernandez seems like a guy that will getting more screen time and on the verge of blowing up.

Yeah, Marcello is in everything it seems.

I feel like Dismukes is there to play a straight man but simultaneously is a lesser Mikey Day.

Re: SNL General Discussion Thread

I never, ever want to have an episode of Saturday Night Live where I don't get to see Mikey Day's wide-eyed look of exacerbated bewilderment at whatever is going on around him ever, ever again. I love it.

I'd be down with Martin. Since OMITB is coming buck later this month, he's probably not filming it this fall.
