Now, about Colin Jost at the Olympics, why wasn't he wearing beach shoes?

Jost has been replaced with a Australian reporter at the Olympics.
I like him but did not care that much for his Olympic reporting when they could show a sport or match with that time.

Gaffigan would indeed be great, and I'd also love to see him host.

Re: SNL General Discussion Thread
At the top of the list: Steve Martin, who, with his wispy white hair, glasses and genial dad-like demeanor, bears a certain resemblance to Walz. Martin got into the spirit of things Tuesday, posting on Threads: “I just learned that Tim Walz wants to go on the road with Marty Short.”
“Saturday Night Live” producer Lorne Michaels must have been listening because he called Martin on Wednesday morning with an offer.
The comedian politely and promptly declined.
“I wanted to say no and, by the way, he wanted me to say no,” Martin told The Times. “I said, ‘Lorne, I’m not an impressionist. You need someone who can really nail the guy.’ I was picked because I have gray hair and glasses.”

Re: SNL General Discussion Thread
I'm really not one to wonder why people have never hosted. There are so many reasons why people would not want to do it. And there are so many reasons why someone famous would not be asked. But I do wonder about Gaffigan. He's been such a popular stand-up for so long, and he is a very good actor. From his perspective, I can't imagine that anyone in the comedy world would not want that feather in their career cap. And from SNL's perspective, it is not like all the stand-ups who host have to be edgy.

Mayber he is nervous or afraid of cue cards.
Mark Ruffalo has a phobia about hosting and worried about messing up.
I wonder why Nick Offerman has not hosted when he did Parks and Rec a NBC show?
Get him to play Tim Walz?

He's not old looking or bald or chubby. I don't see why you'd want him. Because he knows how to hold a hunting rifle?

Hot take:
Stunt casting is boring.
SNL cast should be the cast on SNL.
Cast the cast.

Because Chevy Chase looked so much like Gerald Ford.

Re: SNL General Discussion Thread
That was an instance of SNL still keeping a foot in the ragged sketch comedy rules of improv.
And that was the last and only time that SNL did not make an effort to have the performer look like the politician they were portraying. They let Dan Ackroyd play Nixon and Carter with a mustache, but they altered his appearance, and he impersonated their distinctive voices.
Now, it is established on the show that the actor will be made up (even using prosthetics) to look like who they are playing. They have set their own rules, and that is what the audience expects.
50 years was a long time ago. So long ago that people liked Chevy Chase and thought he was funny.

Re: SNL General Discussion Thread
If they got Alec Baldwin back to do Trump that would be the ultimate slap in the face to James Austin Johnson though Alec has baggage now but SNL was killing it in the ratings with the Baldwin Trump impressions.
Maybe Steve Martin is not political and does not want to go there though I have not watched any of his shows or standup material but he never seemed like a guy who talked politics.

Or maybe, just maybe, he's telling the truth that he doesn't do impressions and isn't the right guy for this job?

Rob Schneider maybe this will make some people hate him more or praise him?

Elle King is lifting the lid on her fractured relationship with her father Rob Schneider.
Speaking in an edited teaser for an upcoming episode of Bunnie Xo’s Dumb Blonde podcast, the “Ex's & Oh's” singer, 35, discussed her upbringing with dad Schneider, 60, as she recalled him sending her away to “fat camp” as a child.
King said in the edited clip from the episode posted on TikTok on Saturday, Aug. 10, “I was, like, a really, really heavy child. My dad sent me to fat camp. And then I got in trouble one year because I sprained my ankle and I didn't lose any weight. Very toxic and very silly,” she added.
