I'm pretty sure the job is Ken's to lose. Only if the ratings crater after he takes over would someone else get a crack.

LeVar Burton would be pretty incredible. Didn't know he was in the mix. That would be really awesome.

Seems like it was mainly him and some fans talking about it though. Nothing seemingly serious. Now, he would be my number one choice.

And they should totally let Will Ferrell host it in between just for the fun of it.

Never say that again. Not even as a joke. Never.

It's actually been over 5 years since they've done Celebrity Jeopardy, I wonder if they'll ever do it again? I always enjoyed it.

Re: Jeopardy! Discussion

The games so far this season have generally not been very good. I think the show has a smaller pool of contestants to draw from, and the producers are putting lower-quality players on the show. This week it seems that the clues have gotten easier.

Pretty much all the contestants this season have been from California (though some disguise it by saying originally from...), though I noticed one from Las Vegas this week. But until they bring back the pre-Covid champ, it'll probably be somewhat slimmer pickings

Oh THAT's whats going on. Makes sense now. I thought the contestants have been sort of....lacking?

Although that one final jeopardy question I thought it was kind of harsh not to count William Tell when they were looking for William Tell Overture.

Unfortunately this is the bump you don't want. He passed away.

https://twitter.com/Jeopardy/status/1325490106329751553 @Jeopardy: Jeopardy! is saddened to share that Alex Trebek passed away peacefully at home early this morning, surrounded by family and friends. Thank you, Alex. https://t.co/Yk2a90CHIM

He fought long and tough.

Gave that cancer a run for its money.

Re: Jeopardy! Discussion

One of my colleagues works on Jeopardy and I worked with her yesterday. I asked her how things were going and she gave no indication that Trebek was gravely ill. She said they recorded a bunch of episodes in the can. So you’ll still see him a few more months at least.

Re: Jeopardy! Discussion

It's too early to discuss possible replacements, BUT...

Whoever it is, they'll have one heck of a tough act to follow.

I wouldn't want the gig.

That’s sad that Christmas will be his finale and will be his final goodbye. I’m sure they will make a nice farewell out of it.

I dont think that he would take it, but the only person I could think of that would possibly work is Jake Tapper.

You need someone that is entertaining, but also seems smart enough to dole out the questions and answers, so that rules out the usual path of finding comedians to fill these slots.

He posted a very nice tribute to Alex. My friends' daughter was the one who encouraged him to apply for show and also was the first to call him to inform him of Alex passing.

The Wrap is reporting that George Stephanopoulos' reps are pitching him as a potential replacement.

Interesting. They can thank Howard Stern for planting the seed on that one.

This was in May.
Howard didn’t hesitate to suggest a more relaxing gig: taking over for Alex Trebek as the host of “Jeopardy!” The move made perfect sense to Howard as George is both a well-respected TV personality and a brilliant Rhodes Scholar.

“Do you ever watch ‘Jeopardy!’?” Howard asked.

“Sure,” George responded.

“Are you able to answer most of the questions?” Howard wondered.

“I don’t know about most, and I don’t know how I’d do on the buzzer, but, you know, we all play along at home,” he said.

“Would you take that job?” Howard wondered.

Ever the communications professional, Stephanopoulos stayed diplomatic. “I think it would be a lot of fun, but I like what I’m doing, too,” he concluded. “I’m not going to be Shermanesque about it but, you know, it’s a great show.”
