Chicago Fire, Med and PD all renewed for 3 seasons each.

Re: The One and Only TV FAQ Thread Plus Renewal and Cancellation News
This is all on top of the purported billion dollar deal NBC signed last month with Dick Wolf for the entire Law & Order and Chicago franchise for the Peacock streaming service.

Re: The One and Only TV FAQ Thread Plus Renewal and Cancellation News
I've been wondering why NBC has been signing three season renewals, such as as This is Us and New Amsterdam earlier.
One possible semi-plausible explanation, is if the Comcast/Universal C-level suite executives believe the Peacock streaming service will supersede in cash flow than from existing broadcast tv. |

For example, such as the episodes yesterday which had a crossover starting in Chicago Fire and concluding in Chicago PD the next hour. |

I know no one here watches it, but Vida on Starz is ending after the upcoming 3rd season. I only saw the 1st episode and did like it. I'd like to get back to it eventually. |
Re: The One and Only TV FAQ Thread Plus Renewal and Cancellation News
I liked it a lot.

^I'm not heartbroken, but it's too bad--I was looking forward to seeing where the story went.

V Wars was cancelled by Netflix along with October Faction.
No one here watched or noticed, so I guess no loss from this community. https://deadline.com/2020/03/v-wars-...on-1202896015/ Netflix just cancels content that gets little to no traction in a few months. |
Re: The One and Only TV FAQ Thread Plus Renewal and Cancellation News
Well, if you're a fan of Empire, and I know probably no one here watches it anymore. It's final season got hosed.
https://deadline.com/2020/04/empire-...ox-1202897276/ It was supposed to have a 20 episode final season. 18 were completed. 19 was being shot when they shut down. They will not complete the episode order and will try to do edits, ADR and mixing in footage from episode 19 to make episode 18 work as a series finale. Sounds like a disaster. Sucks if you are a fan and were hoping for a proper send off. |
Re: The One and Only TV FAQ Thread Plus Renewal and Cancellation News
Empire was such a huge hit that first season, but lost the plot over the years. Not sure how many fans are still left.

V Wars was setting itself up to have an interesting second season so I actually am a bit bummed it was cancelled but not crushed at the news. October Faction was well...half the time I was not quite sure what I was watching on the screen or where the story was going but it had potential. |

Word on the street is that the CW has renewed practically every show on the network for two more seasons, including Batwoman and Supergirl. More and more I start wondering if the entire network isn't some sophisticated money laundering scheme by Hollywood.

A bunch of shows on CBS got renewed today: CBS has renewed 18 more series for 2020-2021 including the majority of its drama lineup and a trio of comedies. The broadcaster has picked up dramas All Rise, Blue Bloods, Bull, FBI, FBI: Most Wanted, MacGyver, Magnum P.I., NCIS, NCIS: Los Angeles, NCIS: New Orleans, Seal Team and S.W.A.T., comedies Bob ♥ Abishola, The Neighborhood and The Unicorn, news programs 60 Minutes and 48 Hours and reality series Undercover Boss. They join previously renewed for next season Evil, Chuck Lorre’s Mom and Young Sheldon — both in the middle of two-year pickups — Survivor and The Amazing Race for a total of 23 shows, scripted, reality and newsmagazines. Glad that SWAT, both FBI's and Magnum PI got picked up again. Those are my favorites. Now we just need Hollywood to get back to work. |
Re: The One and Only TV FAQ Thread Plus Renewal and Cancellation News
and with every renewal, there are some cancellations. CBS shows not returning:
CBS this morning renewed 18 shows for a total of 23 scripted/reality series and newsmagazines picked up for next season. Left off the list were freshmen Tommy, Carol’s Second Act and Broke and returning comedy Man With a Plan, now in its fourth season. The development is not surprising — all four have been on shaky ground. They have now been canceled. |
Re: The One and Only TV FAQ Thread Plus Renewal and Cancellation News
I really like Man With a Plan but it is not surprising...

Re: The One and Only TV FAQ Thread Plus Renewal and Cancellation News
I am surprised anything is getting cancelled. Seems easier to keep something on rather than coming up with something new, since everything is already in place.

History cancels Project Blue Book and Knightfall. Neither show was watched by this forum, so I guess neither will be missed. |
