I hear ya...I love this show, but don't have the time to read the books or view each episode multiple times. I tried to keep up with the threads, but it has become such a chore to filter through all the bitch posts (and this one is no different

It helps when you have one who knows what is going on, and another that is more of a casual viewer, That is the case in my household, I bring my wife up to speed on the different situations before the show.

I appreciate the efforts of pinata242, Tommy Ceez and Mordred (as well as others) who answer questions and clear things up for us that miss some details. The help is truly appreciated as it helps me enjoy the show and keep people, places, backstory, relationships & storylines straight. I'd like to be able to watch episodes twice, but sometimes, there just isn't enough time.
I don't think this thread is that bad regarding spoilers. I know it's a fine line between answering questions, and spoiling things. I wish people would relax a little bit and just use some common sense when posting. Hell, unless it's something major, like a character death, I usually won't remember what was said come Sunday night. Too much going on.

Let's not forget the rat tortue in Missing in Action 2. If only Chuck Norris lived in the 7 Kingdoms.

Does anyone know why they showed Pyke in the credit sequence this week when nothing took place in Pyke?

we didn't have anything about Winterfall or the Wall but they still showed those areas. I guess you can say that things are still happening there even though nothing was shown. Or, the editors didn't feel the need to spend money to edit the sequences since there was 3-4 stories/locations this week.

They normally don't drop cities week to week. They showed Vas Dothrak up until this week when they replaced it with Quarth, and they ALWAYS show the Wall and Winterfell

When they previously showed Vaes Dothrak, the horde &/or Dany & her crew were at least in the Dothraki Sea so up till now, everything shown appeared in the episode (at least to my recollection). I didn't even think about the Wall or Winterfell being shown too. Good catch. Chowderhead's guess must be correct.
Another thing. I didn't even realize that the guy now playing the "The Mountain" was that character. I heard them mention the name, but seeing him it didn't even register. I don't like the looks of this guy. He doesn't look intimidating in the least. I'd rather they work out the other actor's schedule, flew the other actor in and tried to shoot all of his stuff for the season. Working in production myself, I know this might be a little tough due to finalization of scripts and such, but I think for the show it would work better.

I'd rather the character just have been a generic guard instead of The Mountain but I haven't gotten to this book yet so I don't know if The Mountain has a larger (no pun intended) role to play in the overall story

And it's kind of cool they way the bridges ripple when the towers snap into place.

I agree completely and I haven't read it either so I also don't know.

Bronn is as awesome as Tyrion. When he told the knight (marien?) that it would be a shame to get blood on his white cloak and then when Tyrion tells Bronn to kill him if he speaks again and says that was a threat, notice the difference? That was genius!

Just figured I would chime in and say I didn't even realize that was the mountain. I thought I was looking at a character from Monty Python's Holy Grail.

2 Fast, 2 Furious? American Psycho? Some people need to read 1984.
Hopefully that wasn't too much of a book spoiler.

Yeah, but as we've seen in this show a couple times already (Jon, Lancel), Martin sees the bearing of cups as a pretty important job.

From Wikipedia (the general cup-bearer page, not GOT specific):
A cup-bearer was an officer of high rank in royal courts, whose duty it was to serve the drinks at the royal table. On account of the constant fear of plots and intrigues, a person must be regarded as thoroughly trustworthy to hold this position. He must guard against poison in the king's cup, and was sometimes required to swallow some of the wine before serving it. His confidential relations with the king often gave him a position of great influence. The position of cup bearer is greatly valued and given to only a select few throughout history. Qualifications for the job were not held lightly but of high esteem valued for their beauty and even more for their modesty, industriousness and courage.

Add me to the list of people who don't get why anyone puts up with Dany making all these threats of what she's going to do if she doesn't get her way. I'm glad the spice guy called her bluff.
Even if the dragons were face huggers or whatever, they're obviously not formidable enough for Dany and co. to take the city, or she would have done so as soon as they rejected her. Maybe you'll lose some men, maybe the dragons won't obey anyone but Dany, maybe she doesn't have dragons (for all they know) but why not take that chance? I also don't understand why the other Dothraki that killed the other rider didn't just follow the horse back to Dany and slaughter the lot of them. (btw, did they kill the guy who's been Dany's protector all of season 1, or one of the other two guys... I couldn't tell, besides the woman who was grieving being the one that seemed closest to him).
Why doesn't the Hound step in to defend Joffrey? I was thinking Bronn could easily kill that one guard but would have a tougher time with the Hound.
If this is a spoiler, never mind, but has it been 9 months since the scene in the strategy room with the red lady and Stannis, or does that kind of birth have nothing to do with that kind of pregnancy?
Did Stannis cut off some of Davos's fingers in their previous encounter when Davos was a smuggler? This is the second time they mentioned something like that but it's still lost on me. The actor and the dialogue do a great job of explaining why Stannis has no friends. I still don't understand, strategy-wise, why the two brothers want to waste their time and resources on each other before confronting King's Landing and the Lannisters... luckily Robb is keeping them busy, but if not, I don't care how many men Renly has, wouldn't they be caught between two armies?
Also, if two regular Lannister army men know about Renly's "preferences," doesn't everyone know? They make it seem like to be King he's got to hide that, but it doesn't seem to be much of a secret.
