I don't see a reason why they'd change their MO.
On a related note though, PBS is airing a special, 'Unlocking Sherlock,' on January 12, the week before they start Season 3:

PBS will air a "Sherlock"-themed special, "Unlocking Sherlock," on Sunday, Jan. 12, one week before the Season 3 premiere.
"Unlocking Sherlock" explores the creation of the contemporary retelling by Steven Moffat and Mark Gatiss of the Sherlock Holmes story.
"As excitement builds for the new season of 'Sherlock' on Masterpiece, we invite viewers to join us as we delve into the writers' inspiration for the modern-day Sherlock Holmes that has captivated fans nationwide," PBS programming executive Beth Hoppe said in a statement to UPI. "This special highlights the transformation of [19th century author] Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's most-portrayed character into a cultural phenomenon."

You won't have to wait long. The BD & DVD releases are set for January 27th in the UK, and February 11th in North America.

I'm not waiting for anything AND I'll still buy the Season 3 DVD. I ended up watching Season 2's A Scandal In Belgravia more than any movie this year, I think at least six or seven times.
Yes, I'm very late to the Sherlock bandwagon.

Anyway, the low point in each season/series is generally acknowledged to be the middle one, i.e. "The Blind Banker" in Series 1, and "The Hounds of Baskerville" in Series 2. Which isn't to say there can't be a difference of opinion.

"Hounds" was no great shakes but it was fun overall. I did like the bit with Holmes
Is "The Blind Banker" the one with the Asian hitmen? If so, that episode annoyed me with how the characters would suddenly act incredibly stupid for the sake of contrivance. Yes, "A Study In Pink" had Holmes go full retard towards the end but the episode I'm thinking of was far more aggravating since the characters acted as if they were getting randomly hit by a stupid ray.

No, but there is a large population of knitters that love all things British, knit while watching Masterpiece Theater and try to replicate the jumpers from the show. Since this is the episode that contains the closest thing to heterosexual romance, it's a favorite.

Re: Sherlock (BBC/PBS) Series Thread
Hey, I love the show but that doesn't mean I don't realize there aren't huge problems with just about every episode, even the really strong ones. For me the strengths are the look and feel, and the Holmes/Watson friendship. The plotting and dialogue are often (extremely) weak points.

I just figured that out. PBS.
