Re: MasterChef (FOX) -- Season 5 Thread -- Summer 2014

^The "bad guy" judge (Alvin Leung) on the Canadian version is great. He's hilarious, and not at all an asshole. Of the other two judges, the effete Brit is OK as well, but Cabrile, or whatever his name is, is a bit of a douche and nonentity.

Great battle at the end between Cutter and Leslie.

I was when Cutter was freaking out so early and prepping the rissoto too early. It's a good thing that Graham helped settle his nerves.

I think Cutter really improved during the course of the season. Despite the end result, those were probably his best dishes of the season. Classy exit by him.

Leslie rocks. Love his confidence without being too full of himself. I hope he takes out Courtney at the end.

If this is like the past and follows the same pattern as next food network star then a girl will win. Two years ago Christina. ..last year luca.....this year.. (insert female name)

Agreed.

I'm surprised they're not doing a "comeback" episode like they've done every year. I wanted Ahran to return and go up against Leslie.

Shocked that Courtney won. What a smug little bitch. The producers dropped the ball if they anyone is gonna buy a cookbook from her.

I couldn't believe the Looney Tunes Witch won. What an ugly ****. Joe had a hard on for her since day one.

I nearly fell on the floor laughing when Joe went into his goofy pontificating about the "intellectual" properties of putting salt in the cherries. He sounded like David Brent, "You made a dish that feeds not only our mouths, but our minds..."

Once Leslie was out, so was I. My gf & I hated Courtney from Day 1. Smug little princess.

Ugh. I was rooting against The Schnoz the entire season. Elizabeth outshined her in the final challenge, too -- so I don't understand.

What a disappointing finale.

How long until her first porn video?

No, Elizabeth didn't outshine her in the final challenge. If she had she would have won. Watch it again. For that matter, watch the entire season, and you'll see how Courtney outshined both Elizabeth AND Leslie in pretty much everything. It was clear after only a few episodes who was going to win this, and NOT because of favoritism or anything else. Courtney was, overall, the better home cook. It's that simple.

How do you figure that Elizabeth outshined Courtney in the final challenge? Whether it was an unfair edit or not, it's been the first time that I recall where the judges praised one chef's (Courtney) first two dishes with no negative criticism while they pretty much ripped Elizabeth.

Courtney destroyed Elizabeth in the finals and she was one of the most consistent chefs all season. I would bet she probably had the most top 3 finishes of each mystery box challenge as well.

Despite my immense dislike for her I agree that Courtney was the best chef this season (even better than Leslie who I was rooting for). But this show is not about who the best home chef is...it's about who can sell the most cookbooks and merchandise. Period. Courtney came off as brash, unlikable, stuck up and most importantly fake. None of the viewing audience is going to want to support her. If you think the judges actually pick the winner I'd have to challenge that....the producers definitely dropped the ball here.

Even though I had a strong disdain for Courtney, I never called her cooking in to question during the season. She was easily one of the strongest competitors. In the finale, I just thought Elizabeth did better.

I can make better use of my time than re-watching a cooking competition where someone I didn't like won the final prize. That has no bearing on who I would have had rather win.

Exactly. These shows are manufactured. Courtney could have taken a dump on the plate and she still would have won.

It's not like the winners from past seasons are remotely relevant. Aside from getting a cookbook released that the show pays for, what are any of them doing?

Whitney has shown up on the Food Network as a judge a couple times but other than that nobody has done anything. That lady that won the second season didn't even bother with the cookbook.

And its the second season winner that's entirely erased from my memory, -I can't remember one thing about her, while I recall all the others.

Don't forget the $250K. In my world, that's fuck you money. I mean, it's not like they were vying for a job with Ramsay like on Hell's Kitchen. It's just to crown "America's Best Home Cook". They get to go back to their lives and figure out how to spend or invest what most people consider an assload of money.

Re: MasterChef (FOX) -- Season 5 Thread -- Summer 2014

I wonder if there are any videos of Courtney on the Internet. If not there probably soon will be. Maybe she'll use some of the money for a nose job. I'm surprised there haven't been comments about how she stood with one leg behind the other. I also wonder how close the contestants get, if you know what I mean.
As to Canada Masterchef, same format but I like Leung better than any on Masterchef. He is hilarious, he knows it and plays it up. Smelt puree... what was Danny thinking?

Maybe not mentioned here, but this is a somewhat classier place to discuss things than other sites I've seen. There are people being downright nasty about her. You'd think Courtney came to each of their homes and boiled their pets in Crisco while ass-raping their infant children with a whisk, the way they talk about her.

After winning the "dreaded pressure test".

I'm glad I opted to read about the results here. I can just erase the recording instead of raising my blood pressure.

You say that like it's a bad thing...
