Hate to see him go, but it was a satisfying ending. I'm glad he didn't end up dead or in jail.
Anthony Anderson has impressed me a lot lately. He should be a worthy replacement.

I thought it was a little over the top myself, and I hated to see him go out wearing that goofy hat.
I'll miss his character, and I'll have a hard time getting used to Antwan Mitchell being a COP! (If you watch The Shield you'll get it, and no I didn't watch K-Ville.)

A strong ending for a long-term character--it's all you can ask for. I like the episode and I think Anthony Anderson will fit in well.

I also liked Anthony Anderson's character, and find him to be about as good a replacement for JLM's character as anyone could hope to be. I also echo the comments about how happy I was that they acknowledged Orbach's death, although it made me sad at the same time. I guess the only sentiment expressed here that I don't agree with was by uteotw.

I thought Jesse looked especially good in the hat- and the sunglasses. A nice final image to carry with me. Nothing over the top about it in my opinion.
Overall, a bittersweet episode for me. Well done, as I suppose that was the intention.

Good episode. Sad to see him go. But, I think Anthony Anderson should be an adequate replacement.

Law & Order 5/21 "Excalibur" **Season Finale**
I've been looking forward to seeing this ripped-from-the-headlines episode. They turned it around very quickly - hopefully, the rush job doesn't effect the quality.

The TV guy in USA Today liked it a lot and pointed out Waterson's performance especially. This show has had a great season, compared to the last few anyway. It was nice actually looking forward to this show again as opposed to just watching it out of habit.
Is this show available through legal channels anywhere on the internets? I missed the ep where Det. Green left.

The governor was smart using the names of other prominent politicians as his aliases: if they ever get wind of his infidelities and try to take him down, he smears them in public using his own aliases as alleged proof of their infidelities. His wife was a real treat, too.

Good ep.
... and as I always post when there is an actor/actress from that show I show I loved in the past...
I miss Philly.

They played that well. It's nice to see the D.A.s lose now and then, particularly in this fashion. The minute he was ready to take the deal, I figured that the governor had directly guaranteed him that he would commute the sentence; didn't count on Mrs. Gov talking to him. That was a really good scene with her and Jack where she said she wasn't going to be the stand-by-her-man wife at the press conference of shame.
It also gives them a chance to revisit Jack vs. the Gov. next season.
Given the absurd way they do Emmy noms, Sam Waterston might garner a nomination out of this episode.
And I miss Philly too.

Liked the episode and this season as well. The only thing I didn't care for is how they tried to make prostitution worse than murder. The widow didn't seem to broken that her brother killed her husband on the stand but said that it was unforgivable to run a prostitution ring.

What a good episode, I commend the producers for good turnaround time from the headlines. Lots of cool quotes and scenes that helped relate our own political environment and behind the scenes action that goes on.
Do any of you guys watch Criminal Intent? I actually prefer it and this is pretty good timing for the L&O season finale with L&O: Criminal Intent coming up on June 8th. Last season was awesome, and they're holding a huge Det. Logan marathon on USA this Sunday if any of you guys wanna catch that. Also Det. Wheeler is coming back for the new season so I'm interested to see how they fit that into the plot.

I agree that this season was the best one L&O has had in years. Sisto, Roache, and Anderson have blended in very well.
Good to see an episode centered around McCoy. Sam Waterston was in his element last night. His reaction to hearing the governor's voice on the wiretap was perfect.
I liked Cutter's offer to help McCoy at the end. Between Cutter and McCoy, the governer and his wife might be toast next season.
Ditto!

I haven't said this in a long time, but I can't wait for next season!

For some reason, I kept missing episodes this season.
Anyhow, great finale. This was the first time I've seen Sisto and Anderson; Sisto is simply great, and while I've always thought Anderson is dreadful in everything, his low key approach works really well.
I don't think this episode would've worked the way it did without McCoy as DA.

Law & Order - Season Finale - 6/3/09
I know there aren't a lot of threads started for L&O, but I was wondering if anyone caught this last night? Felt like classic L&O to me. I always love the eps dealing with political corruption. McCoy's indignation is always fun to watch.
The coda between the Asst. DA and the Gov. was pretty sweet, too. I thought he sold a blank piece of paper well. And Tom Everett Scott is great at being smarmy.
Another finale with an election in the balance. This has been a great season, and I was happy to hear its coming back next year. January, I think. I hope the cast stays intact. Its the best its been since the Angie Harmon days.

I really hope Waterston comes back next season. Part of me was wondering why McCoy didn't wear a wire when he was summoned by the Gov. because he had to know the gov would find a way to screw him. Good finale.

I love how they made the Governor Spitzer last season, and Blagojevich in this episode. And then in the end of course he turns back into Spitzer here.
