It's not Law and Order if there isn't a cast change. Seems to be a common denominator on all the Dick Wolf Law and Order franchises. SVU probably has the least amount of turnover with only the ADA being the revolving door of actresses. SVU did a cast change after S1 getting rid of 2 actors through.

Well, Dick Wolf might not be taking a break to do these changes, but NBC is giving it to him anyway.

Law And Order: LA was originally supposed to take over the Tuesday 10PM slot on Feb. 8. NBC has pulled it and is leaving Parenthood in the slot for the rest of the season. Law And Order: LA will pop back up at some point, probably after they run out of episodes of Chase.

They're delaying broadcast of new episodes, probably until May, and dumping half the cast? What's the point? If management believes the show is that bad, put a bullet in it. "Retooling" is never an improvement.

The chances of LO:LA equaling the 20-year run of the mothership are looking pretty slim at the moment.

Watched this one today. My very first L&O episode...ever. Not bad. I'll check out the retooled version. The promo's are rather good.

Spoiler:
Returns tonight after 4 month hiatus. I enjoyed the 1st 8 episodes last year. I don't really get why they needed to make changes, but whatever.
Here is how this "Reboot" works. The last episode that aired was episode 8 on the production schedule. They are jumping ahead to episode 14 and 15 for tonight.
Episodes 9-13 will be burned off in June after the TV season ends.

Re: Law and Order: LA -- 2 Hour Premiere (Reboot) -- "Zuma Canyon/Silver Lake" -- 4/1
I think the pilot killed whatever shot this show had, and this is just delaying the inevitable cancellation. They made a huge mistake making the pilot Hollywood....... ..... .... .... .... Law and Order, which is what everyone was afraid this show would be and focus too much on. Of all the episodes to do that plot, that outlandishly, they chose the pilot. That killed the show right there. They are just wasting their time now.
Further, I think getting rid of Ulrich is a big mistake. And even worse, making Molina a cop all of a sudden? Not only do I not think it will remotely work, I think it's one of the most stupid, contrived Hollywood moronic retooling I've heard of. From DA to cop magically after killing off your lead detective? That's believable. But it would be forgivable if it worked, and I just don't see 2011 Molina who's character is the same as the DA working as a cop now.
These idiots should have done one simple thing: realized they had the best L&O going in quite some time. The original. Anderson, de la Garza, and their two respective partners were the best cast that any of these shows have had in a long, long, long time. Their characters actually had some pretty deep stories, and were just perfect together. Now NBC is realizing what dumbasses they were by bring de la Garza into LA... Too little, too late, you killed one of the most amazing L&Os for this, which people rejected. Admit your mistake and move on, don't further kill the future of L&O by trying to keep this show in life support by rebooting it into an even weaker version than it already was.

The President of NBC was the one who asked and oversaw all the changes. If he wasn't involved, then I would probably agree the show is DOA even with the changes.
As for moving Molina's character to being a Cop. They said they wanted to have Morales and Dekker in every episode from here on out because they thought it was a waste having 2 "A-List" movie actors appear on the show part time.

The ad says it's the first time a detective has been killed, but they offed George Dzundza's character in the L&O season 2 premiere (granted it was obvious that it was a stand in).

NBC really screwed this up IMO. The last 2 seasons of the original L&O were the best that show had been in years, they should have just kept it on.

BTW, forgot to mention:
Out:
Corey Stoll's mustache
I know there is still a bunch of bitter Mothership fans out there. But, as someone who has only watched a handful of the original L&O episodes, I think the LA version has done a pretty good job introducing new characters and covering LA-related crimes.
Edit: Someone made a very good point in Alan Sepinwall's review of tonight's episode. Moving Connie from New York to LA isn't that easy. She would have to take the California bar exam before she could practice in LA. Also, Sepinwall points out that she just appears with no explanation.

I like that we are going to see Molina more. Unfortunately, that means we are going to see Terrance Howard more. But, that brings de La Garza back, so it's slightly weighted back in favor of the show.

I have nothing against Megan Boone and Regina Hall, they did a good job with the material given to them, but I like bringing Connie to this show to replace them. Even though it doesn't really make sense logistically.

how does this help with the adult demos to get rid of Skeet and replace him with Molina? The bald headed dude with the mustache is so strange looking that I get distracted whenever he's onscreen. They should have got rid of him.

I like Skeet and he was great on Jericho a few years ago, but I don't think he really fit in to this show. They rushed the show into production with no Pilot and he was the 1st guy cast. But, I agree the show is going to lose some younger viewers, specifically women, after he's gone.

Yeah I don't really get it either. My wife said that Skeet and Terence are both very nice men to look at.
