Strange looking? I think he is Hot. Beautiful bald head, nice eyes and build. I will take him with or without the beard.

have given it more thought. I didn't really think they needed to make any changes, and definitely not to the cop side of the show
seeing that most people seem to hate Howard (I don't but I guess I can see why some do) they should have ditched him to bring in the regular L&O ADA

funny how you can quit the DA's office and then have a job at the police force by night!
maybe they'll revisit this case down the line and get cesar back. sadly, the ratings were horrible so I don't see this lasting longer than the season.

How unsurprising that they chose to reboot the show by focusing on LA's most notorious weakness. Yes the city is a cesspool of corruption on the brink of a race war where the Mexican mafia's fingers secretly run the entire city and the last of the white populace is driven off fleeing to Oregon.
Never mind the fact that crime rates are at historic lows not seen since the 1950s. Never mind that there is more Mexican narco terrorism going on along the Texas border than here in LA. The most dangerous gangs in LA these days are Central American, not Mexican. And LA is about more than just Mexicans, blacks and whites, altho I doubt we'll see too many storylines about the huge populations from Armenia, Iran, Korea, India, China, Vietnam, Samoa, Thailand, etc.
This episode reeked of some outsider trying to put their spin on brown on white crime in LA after spending a week here. Perhaps they watched Sean Penn and Dennis Hopper in 'Colors' for research.
Aside from the storyline, this episode wasn't bad. Molina was as usual top notch. I don't mind seeing him take on the cop role however ham-handed the explanation was. He's the strongest part of the show. Don't even get me started on Terrence Howard who was mercifully missing from the first hour.
The second hour seemed like a poor choice to pair up with Skeet's departure. You would think they would like to show Molina and Corey Stoll's characters spending more time out on the streets together getting to know each other.
And maybe that's why this show just doesn't feel like LA. As often as we watched cops in the New York show out walking the sidewalks, we also need to see these cops drive drive drive. Because that's what we do in LA. At least the old version of this show had Skeet and Corey stopping at burrito stand, you know, like we see real LA cops doing everyday.
'Southland' seems to understand and do this much better.
To the writers on this show: pick up a Michael Connelly or Joseph Wambaugh novel please. It's not hard to write about crime in LA.
And good lord what was up with new opening sequence? It sounded like they hired some dance club DJ from a rave to remix it.

Re: Law and Order: LA -- 2 Hour Premiere (Reboot) -- "Zuma Canyon/Silver Lake" -- 4/1
A little late, but I finally watched all 2 hours today.
Episode 1: I liked it, but since we only knew Skeet's character Winters for only 9 episodes, I don't think his death had any emotional impact on me.
I was shocked by the little Mexican boy getting shanked by the fake interpreter. I hope they re-visit this case before the season is over.
Episode 2: I was fine with them rushing Morales back to being a Cop. They briefly explained it even though it was far-fetched. The case was pretty weird and dark.
Really enjoyed seeing Tim DeKay from White Collar guest starring. He was great.
But, they did not explain what happened to Lauren and Evelyn (the previous DDA's working under Dekker and Morales) and they bring in Connie into the mix as the new DDA with no setup. It was like she was working for LA County previously and just fit right in.
For a big "Re-boot", the show's tone doesn't feel any different. It's going to be weird when they burn off episodes 9-13 in June and we see Skeet alive and well again.
I do like the new opening credits.

Watched this one tonight.
For the most part (70-80%) I thought this episode was pretty good. I'm enjoying Molina as Stoll's partner and I think he's fitting in quite well. This case about "East Pasadena" was loosely based on the City of Bell corruption scandal here in Southern California. The scene where TJ and Morales went into the Civic Auditorium to stop the shooter was really compelling.
at TJ and Morales undercover as painters and getting cited by that corrupt cop. Loved their reactions at all the fines they had to pay.
The episode fell flat once they went to trial and it turned into bullshit psycho-analysis/babble on Morales' psychiatric sessions.
and Oh man, Alana de la Garza looked damn good. In the hotness department, she's a major upgrade from Regina Hall and Megan Boone.

This was a good episode, I think the show has gotten better since the reshuffling of the characters ... but still wish they would have just left the original on, they show it self was the best it had been in years and its ratings were better than LOLAs have been.

Just watched this tonight. I know it's almost a week late and a new episode is airing on Monday.
Great episode and great acting by everyone, especially the 2 main guest stars Jeff Fahey and Paula Malcomson. Malcomson has to be one of the busiest actresses on TV this season. I've seen her on so many shows this season and this is the 2nd time I've seen her on NBC this season.
The big twist that Malcomson's character was adopted and hired Fahey to kill her sister out of hate for her biological mother was very clever.
This "reboot" IMO has worked pretty well so far. Alana de la Garza is a nice addition and has worked very well as the new DDA. I think rushing this show to air in the Fall was a mistake. NBC should have given the writers and producers more time to develop this and launched it midseason instead of a rushed Fall launch and scrappping it for 4 months, which might kill it because of the ratings.
And I know alot of mothership fans are still pissed about the original getting canned and aren't giving this a shot. And honestly I can't blame them. I think the 2 could have easily co-existed along with SVU and even with the final season of CI airing on USA. If NBC was worried about costs for the original since it was so old, they should have just ordered a shorter season.

Re: Law and Order: LA -- "Reseda" -- 5/02/11
This was a great episode up until the last 15-20 minutes and then it lost me.
The whole situation with the bank robberies and the fake hostage photos was cool.
at the scene where the bomb went off in the back yard blowing off the Cop's leg. That was wicked. The scene that was intense was when TJ was trapped by the motion sensor bomb.
Don't know if you noticed, but when Morales was making small talk with TJ in that basement, he did mention what happened to Evelyn (Regina Hall)
at the scene where Morales went undercover in the gold shop and wore the Yarmulke.
Then, the episode went to trial and it got really boring when they started preaching about California's 3 strikes law. I honestly didn't get Dekker's motive for calling Harden to the stand. I wish they could get rid of Dekker and have Rubirosa do all the trials. 1st, she's very easy on the eyes and IMO she's a much better actor than Terrence Howard and comes across as a more credible lawyer.

I liked this episode much better than last week. However, there was some really awful dialogue.
Lt Gonzalez: "Have you noticed any unusual behavior with your daugher?"
Mother: "Last week she defriended me from Facebook!" (starts crying)
The storyline with this episode was pretty dark with the rape and sexual sadists. The girl who played Silvie did a good job playing an unemotional/cold person.
at Cappie from Greek being in this episode and essentially playing the same character.

I think the changes they made have been a mixed bag. Alana de la Garza was a great addtion, and sticking with one set of ADAs was a good move.
I'd rather have seen Alfred Molina promoted to head DA, though, and keep Skeet Ulrich as the detective.
That was pretty bad.
