Yeah TJ getting the grapefruit was hilarious. Loved his reaction after she handed him the pool net.It was nice to see Rebecca Mader again. My Directv program guide description flat out lied and said the victim lied.
I thought the case was quite compelling and the ending sucked for the wife. I liked how snarky Evelyn was in this episode, especially the remark she made to Morales after sentencing. I'm digging the rotating DDA and ADA's every week. The one thing I find interesting is how ridiculously busy Rex and TJ are. 5 episodes have aired and they either have taken place from late summer to winter or fall to early 2011. These guys must be fucking exhausted with their case loads.

Re: Law and Order: Los Angeles -- "Hondo Field" -- 11/10/10
Why does Terence Howard seem like such a horrible actor on this show?
His line readings are laughably amateurish compared to everyone else on this show. I'm not sure if he's just not trying or this role is just not suited to him since he can't project any sort of credibility as a lawyer.
They really need to just keep Alfred Molina full time and ditch the 'switch DA every other week' formula. The episodes with Molina have been way better and he gives this series the gravitas it desperately needs, sort of the way Sam Waterston did for the original.
I think I've seen every movie Terence Howard has done and he can act but I think his range is a lot more limited than he or his agent realizes.
As for this show, it seems to be getting better. I like the LA 'feel' of the storylines altho they seem to be going for more of a LA-noir vibe over the post-Rampart scandal LAPD of today that we see in other shows like 'Southland'. I hope this gets renewed.

terrence howard seems like a horrible actor because he is one. he shows absolutely no emotion. i honestly dread watching every other episode with him in it. glad they replaced him in the iron man movies.

So we're getting 3 Terrence Howard episodes in a row? Bring back Molina.
I love the cop half of this show, but the "law" part has been underwhelming the last couple of eps.

Agreed, this was unfortunately another clunker and I blame Terence Howard. He just sucks the energy out of every scene. I think its his voice which just doesn't sound authoritative enough for the job of D.A. His androgynous effeminate looks and mannerisms don't help either.
This should have been a great episode with a serial killer storyline but instead it ended up feelling like it ended abruptly and I found myself rewinding it figure out what exactly the resolution was.
They just boot Howard ASAP. Maybe try a female DA, hell even, the black assistant chick that works with Molina would be better. Give her a shot.

I thought this was a really good episode that could have been a great episode.
I don't hate Terrence Howard as much as both of you, but yeah he's definitely an inferior actor compared to his DDA counterpart Alfred Molina. Molina's presence would have made the courtroom scenes in this episode dynamic.
The case was really compelling with the murder of the DWP guy leading to the rape case. TJ and Rex make the investigation portion of the episode fun to watch. One thing that did bug me was when they decided to interview those Cops in the Rampart division about the Janitor in question. 1st of all, what person let alone Cop would remember some random ass janitor from 20+ years ago?

Damnit, another Terrence Howard episode!! Where the hell is Alfred Molina? I like Stanton though, but why cast 2 DDA's when your not going to rotate them consistently?BTW, this is the last new episode of 2010. Returns Tuesday February 8th at 10pm in it's new timeslot.

Enjoyed this episode alot. It was very loosely based on the Tiger Woods story from last year. I also believe they incorporated a little of the LPGA golfer who was found dead last year as well.
TJ and Rex have to be the busiest detectives on the LAPD. Every single episode so far has taken place in early June or July and wrapped up with a trial by Winter.
I think this was probably the 3rd or 4th episode in a row with Dekker and Stanton as the DDA/ADA. They need to get Morales (Alfred Molina) back into the mix.
Frankly it would not surprise me at all if SVU ends it run after this season and LA gets a 2nd season. SVU is getting more expensive to produce, especially with Chris Merloni and Mariska Hargitay's salaries going up. I also just read that SVU's showrunner just quit the show.

Major changes to Law and Order LA. I know only a few people here watch, so it's definitely not worth starting a new thread.

Skeet Ulrich (Rex)
Megan Boone (Lauren)
Regina Hall (Evelyn)
were all fired from the show today. No word on replacements. Dick Wolf is calling it a "Creative Overhaul"

I thought all 3 of those were doing fine
especially the ADAs considering they've only had half as many episodes to get into their characters

Wolf is making these changes 'on the fly' w/ no planned production interruptions. Interesting -- curious if he pulls it off.

I'm curious to see how they write out Ulrich. His character (Rex) is partners with Corey Stoll (TJ), the bald guy with the mustache and their characters are pretty important to each episode.

Looks like Alfred Molina is going to be Ulrich's replacement. Apparently he was a cop before he was a lawyer. Sort of lame. I like Molina and think he'd be a better cop than lawyer, but now we have to see Terrence Howard all the time.

I like Molina being on the show fulltime now, but that seems a little out of left field saying all of the sudden he was a detective on the LAPD for 15 years when there was no previous hint of it. He's definitely a stronger actor than Ulrich so it should be interesting to see him paired with TJ.
It said in the Deadline.com story that Rex (Ulrich) will be written out by episode 14.
And that sucks that Terrence Howard is now the fulltime DDA.

Gee, I liked Ulrich. Too bad.
Why all the Howard hate? He's been fine. Molina is better though, but now we get to see his fat ass all the time.

Howard is just so wooden and stiff as an actor. I thought he brought down Iron Man and was super happy they replaced him.

That's a bizarre casting overhaul for a show midway through its first season. Doesn't bode well for the show.

I don't see how dumping these actors is supposed to fix the show, if it indeed needs fixing. Megan is cute, Skeet is perfectly fine in his role. Howard has an annoyingly breathy voice, so I don't know why they're keeping him. Doing poorly (and given its their highest rated show on that day poorly is surely a relative term) can almost always be laid at the feet of the writers and producer, not the actors.
If they really are keeping Molina as a cop, they're insane. It's terribly unrealistic, that's not the kind of move a DA would make.

Neither do I. Replacing half the cast is insane, desperate, or both. It is not, to my mind, the mark of a well-considered proposition. The fact that this sort of move never improves a show's success should give Wolf pause, but who will say no to him?

I've been catching up on this via OnDemand. I like Howard a lot more than Molina, and if Molina's going to be on each ep I'll be less likely to watch
