Craig had Ellie Kemper (the new secretary on The Office) on, tonight. She was very nervous and even went so far as to tell him it was her first talk show. Most talk show hosts would get annoyed, make jokes at her expense, or both. But Craig went out of his way to put her at ease and the interview actually went very well. He took what would normally have been an awkward interview and turned it into a great one.
agreed. He had Charlyne Yi on a few nights ago. She also seemed very nervous to be there, but the conversation went well and Craig rolled with it. It would be great if he actually brought her back just to do an awkward pause

Also, if i were to ever go out to LA, i'd love to get tickets for a taping of his show, as his seems like alot of fun in person (and he swears alot too)

I think he's the best right now, no doubt and I'm always going to be a loyal Letterman fan...I grew up with him.

What this guy deserves is to break the ridiculously too long run of The Daily Show and get an Emmy, but don't expect it to happen.

I've got almost a week's worth of Ferguson to catch up with, but looking forward to the Kemper interview, and am curious about the Kirstie Alley one.

I'm impressed that this thread continually stays on the 1st page.

His "high" monologue and interview with Willie Nelson was great last night.

Me too, its awesome, the entire reason I started the thread is because there was zero talk, or even mention of him here & I figured I might get a page at best of posts out of it. I despise the Daily Show, I think rectal cancer is funnier than Jon Stewart & Colbert is so overrated but I know people think these two are gods. I really didn't think there was much appreciate for Ferguson who is so much better than all the others.

I was actually kind of surprised to see this thread is on page 10, with more than 380 posts. As for the Willie interview, it was great to see those two together as I'm a fan of both of them. I think Craig committed a faux pas of sorts with his remark about wanting to see Willie do another Highwayman tour, given that Waylon and Cash are both gone and only he and Kris remain. I'm sure Craig didn't intend to make Willie uncomfortable, but it was pretty obvious that's what happened. (At least, obvious to someone accustomed to watching Willie's expressions.)

It sure was. Also, I was surprised Craig had SADE on! She's really hittin' the circuit promoting her album.

Sade + Kirstey Alley + same show = Robo Fantasy come true.

Apparently the Laws of Aging don't apply to her, because damn does she look amazing. Her voice has also stayed beautiful.

Re: The Craig Ferguson Appreciation Thread

Just in case anyone's interested or doesn't already know, Letterman has said that when they were trying out hosts to see who'd get the gig after Kilborn left, that Dave was pretty uncertain on the final choice and really gives all the credit on the choice of Ferguson to Executive Producer, good friend, EP of the Carson's show, and one of the key players in helping Letterman when Leno took the Tonight show right from under Dave, and against Carson's wishes, Peter Lassally.

That's a heck of a track record of picking the right horse (talent wise) with Carson, Letterman, and Ferguson.

Re: The Craig Ferguson Appreciation Thread

Many great moments this week, but the Kirstie Alley and Willie Nelson interviews were great.

Craig seems to be able to succeed with just about anyone as his guest. He's so genuine and able to roll with whatever comes along that pretty much everything (except his buddy John Dancy).

IIRC, Ferguson talks about in the book how both Letterman and Rob Burnett were opposed to him getting the job, even though Lassally told him early on that Ferguson was his choice. They wanted to go with Damien Fahey.

Also what i love too, is that unless he seems generally interested in the clip shown, or if its project runway/Mythbusters related, he very rarely goes into 'lets spend 5 minutes promoting the movie/show the guest is on/has coming out' mode.

Is it just me, or is Brendan Fraser high and drunk?

I haven't seen that many interviews with the guy, so maybe he's always like that, but he did seem to be kind of slurring and acting like he had had a few drinks.

I didn't know that Craig had a cameo in Kick-Ass; it's hilarious he's in the Top 2 movies at the box office.

I dropped the Drew Carey Show in my Netflix queue last week hoping to see some of Craig. After watching the first disc I had to google and find out he turned up in season 2 and only the first season of the show is on DVD.

That's a shame. I had no idea who Craig was during the show's original run. It would be fun to go back and see him.

It's funny, but I pretty much hated Mr Wick for most of the run, but reading his book, he didn't seem to care much for the character either, especially towards the end.

Re: The Craig Ferguson Appreciation Thread

For Craig fans I would recommend checking out "The Big Tease" and "I'll Be There." He wrote and was the star in both (also directing the latter) and both are not that bad. The latter is a bit sappy, but well intentioned.

He's been in other stuff as well, including another film, "Saving Grace" that he also wrote, starred, and directed, but I haven't seen anything aside from these two.
