"...and your buddy out there with the eyeliner." says Sawyer

I have always wondered if natural or Why does Nestor Carbonel wear eyeliner in every role he is in????so distracting in "Scrubs" , "The Dark Knight"...i don't know what that is...

Sorry if this has been asked before, but why is there no new Lost next week? I thought the purpose of the new schedule was to air every week with no breaks like 24.

I can't find anything to back this up, but I seem to recall this season starting up one week earlier than expected. If so, that could be the reason for the break. That way, they still end at the same time as originally planned (presumably at the end of May sweeps).

Very possible.

I think the statue is going to wind up being a cast member, or maybe even Jacob. Odd that they would tease it from behind like that. That's a season six answer though I'll bet.

I predict it will be Locke. After the screen shot posted in last week's thread, I paid closer attention to Locke's foot in the repeat this week...in every shot of the foot, and I believe there were three of them...it looked like he had four toes. Granted, some may say the small toe is under the cast, but they made a point of showing his foot at least THREE TIMES. They were driving a point home with that.

As for the other theory (which I will spoilerize, though I am not sure why people feel the need to spoilerize theories...they are, after all, just theories) about the statue being
Spoiler:
Anubis. Perhaps they want you to THINK that! This show is a master in the mislead. However, there is an argument for Locke being a type of Anubis. Anubis is the god of the dead and associated with the burial of a king. Locke was dead and was the leader, or "king" of the Others. Anubis protected the dead and brought them back to the afterlife. Locke was on a mission to convince the O6 to come back to the island as a way to protect everybody there and we've seen the Island as a metaphor for paradise or some kind of afterlife before.

Since they jumped away from that time period in the final skip, we probably won't see the statue again :(

I thought I saw 5 toes on John in one of the shots last week - when he was standing on the floor or table in his room.

The first (and only?) time we "saw" Jacob, didn't he seem to have long hair?

When did they abandon the Hydra? Did they have a constant presence there during the 70's?

I am with you all that it appears it could be Anubis. I don't mean to argue that point. But I think we are going to be very surprised to see exactly what the face looks like. Maybe the Locke theory is stretching it, but that's what is fun about making these theories.

Nope, I was looking during the repeat like a madman. There is a specific shot of all five toes while Locke is trying to hang himself. I believe it was around the time Ben was on his knees in front of him.

Thanks. I knew I wasn't the only one who caught it!

BTW, there may be proof that one of two things are at play here. A third future timeline and/or Ben knowing what was going to happen all along. The question is did 316 land on or near the runway the Others had Sawyer and Kate help clear out? The plane itself looks in pretty good shape.

I think that the four toed foot and the statue shown in LaFleur are two different statues.

That's what I'm thinking as well. It's hard to get a measure of scale, but the pic of the 4-toed foot looks too small to be part of a statue as enormous as the one shown in LaFleur. However, I could be wrong.

Could be...do you think there were multiple statues on the island at some point in the past?

I think it's supposed to be the same statue, but I wish they would have been more consistent with the two shots. In the Season 2 image there is a huge mountain behind it while the new image just shows some trees. Maybe it's just the viewing angles are different.

Something that huge would certainly be viewable from different angles.

Viewable yes, but look at the picture from behind. You can clearly tell that the losties are on flat land and can almost see the statue's feet.

Now look at the picture from the front. There is a giant mountain in the way behind the statue! No flat land + trees.
