An hour left. Whew. Loving it so far. Question: Is the prisoner that helps Numair escape the same one that was barking "Order! Everyone in line, nobody move!" Etc?

Also, something that bugs me in this show is that no one spells names. They're just like "Numahhsitiofosoidi did you get that?" "Yep, looking him up now." And the ONE time they had an easy one (Smith, Jones, not those particular ones but one in which the spelling was obvious) they spelled it out. I think they did that on purpose

No, they wouldn't do that...they'd need a major star to fill in for a year. Someone who would APPEAR to be a permanent replacement. If everyone knew Keifer was coming back, it wouldn't be much fun for the fans (and, as someone already noted, people would just tune out for most of the year).

I also might point out that David Palmer was as much a part of 24 during the first few seasons as Jack Bauer was...if anything, they were co-stars. The show has done quite nicely without Haysbert (although I do miss his character).

I'm sorry but some of us melt at the sight of Rick Schroder Haven't seen him yet... hoping he appears soon. I'm 40 mins away from finishing the 4 hrs (minus commercials).

There have been rumors that the movie is a flashback...to Jack in his formative years at CTU. Although how they pull that off is anyone's guess, since Keifer has visibly aged since Season One.

Key words:

MID SEASON HIATUS.

When you can show me that 24 has gone on a 3 month mid season hiatus, then you have the beginning of a fraction of a leg to stand on.

Back on topic.

My sister-in-law said she read Stephen King has seen the whole season. I, of course, called bullshit. They are still filming it right?

Any links to help prove her wrong?

King wrote an article in EW just last week about the show. In it, he mentions specifically that he's only seen the first four episodes.

They are definitely still filming. They don't complete all 24 episodes until mid to late April each year.

I'd have to compare photos, but I don't think he's aged that much. It's only been six years since the show premiered. His hair is certainly different, but I don't think looking at him that he looks considerably older by any means.

Kiefer says the show is in production 315 of 365 days in a year. That probably includes the time scripts are being written, pre and post production.

Well, with all the frost and hard freezes that have hit the California citrus crop this week, maybe a nuke in Valencia might thaw things out a bit.

CBS News Blog Examines Fox's '24'
The CBS News blog Public Eye is highlighting the growing controversy over Fox's hit drama 24, which this season concerns a terrorist attack on the U.S. using low-grade nuclear weapons. The blog cites several TV critics who have branded the program right-wing propaganda, then offers its own take on the criticism: "What does that mean?" it asks, referring to the critical response. Then seems to side with Milwaukee Journal Sentinel columnist Eugene Kane, who concluded that "24 is to conservatives what The West Wing was to liberals." Meanwhile, the current online edition of the liberal magazine The Nation observes: "It's especially unfortunate to see Kiefer Sutherland play the world's most popular torturer, because his father, Donald Sutherland, has been a prominent antiwar activist since Vietnam days and starred in some great films critiquing fascist politics. ... It's unfortunate also because Kiefer's grandfather, Tommy Douglas, was Canada's first socialist premier, and was recently voted 'the greatest Canadian of all time.'"

Well, I already mentioned it once in this thread, but I interviewed James Morrison (Bill Buchanan) last Friday (Jan. 12th) and he mentioned they were currently on Episode 16. Yes, that's in the podcast if you want to listen.

People see what they want to see...I've NEVER thought 24 was right-wing. 24 has never, ever shown torture to be a good thing...there's always consequences for Bauer's more violent actions/decisions. Anyone who hasn't picked up on this just hasn't been paying attention.

24 is right-wing according to liberal sites because, simply, it allows torture and goes the guns-a-blazzing route.

They need to get over it and realize sometimes entertainment is entertainment, sometimes we want to watch stuff get blown up instead of it peacefully resolved. Somehow, 24 as a passifist show just wouldn't be the same.

but zomg it's on Fox, it must be right-wing propoganda!@#!@#!!

Yeah could you imagine Jack Bauer saying "please Mr. Terrorist tell me where the nuclear device is. Oh you won't tell me...that's ok I'll just let you go and we'll start up a committee to find the bomb. God knows it won't go off before we find it."

Here we go again, Muslims complaining about 24

CLIFTON, New Jersey (AP) -- Two years ago, Muslim groups protested when the plot of the hit Fox drama '24' cast Islamic terrorists as the villains who launched a stolen nuclear missile in an attack on America.
Here is the article, I'd like to draw attention to a quote in the story..

http://www.cnn.com/2007/SHOWBIZ/TV/01/19/24.muslims.ap/

"The overwhelming impression you get is fear and hatred for Muslims," said Rabiah Ahmed, a spokeswoman for the Washington-based Council on American-Islamic Relations. She said Thursday she was distressed by this season's premiere. "After watching that show, I was afraid to go to the grocery store because I wasn't sure the person next to me would be able to differentiate between fiction and reality."

zomg, I saw it on TV, so it MUST be real.

If people can't figure out that 24 is NOT REAL, and is SO outlandish, Then they we're on the way of doing some bizarre and bad things to begin with.

24 may not be real, but a lot of it can be seen as a potential reality in one way or another. And TV influences the way people think and see others to some degree as well. It is a powerful medium.

Unbelievable...one of the big points the writers/producers are trying to get across this season is how we SHOULDN'T discrimate against all Muslims. That's what the whole Palmer's sister and her boyfriend subplot is about.

What's funny is the agenda behind that subplot seems so obvious to me. Whenever the President's sister or her boyfriend appears on screen, the story literally comes to a screeching halt and becomes "preachy." But I guess for others, it's a little too subtle.

His face is thinner which makes the lines in his face more prominent.

The same is true during the bus bombing at the beginning of the first episode this season. The bomber was not the Muslim man denied entry into the bus.
