THEY BROKE JACK!!!

When he's torturing the guy, and the guy yells "please stop" and Jack goes all softie... aww... when the good terrorist guy asks him "why'd you stop?" I was fully expecting Jack to answer "Because he asked me to!"

I'm half-hoping that they *don't* nut him up again, though of course they will.

I kinda like the idea that he's gone through too much. I'd love to see a final season where he's gone irreversably insane, paranoid, pyschotic and delusional... and of course, he has to keep saving the world anyway.

(Or, how about a season where the audience can't tell if the "conspiracy" is real or just in his head, for say the first half of the season?)

I loved that part...He could see it in his eyes that he wasn't going to talk....ha, ha. Bashir gets to him and two seconds later, "3114 Pine Street!" Classic.

Besides this is 24, which has had so many Star Trek connections over the years, it's almost comical. How badass would it have been if they had gotten Avery Brooks to be the President or the head of Division?
If Brooks was ever on 24 it would be classic. Finally another actor who could keep up with and/or surpass Sutherland. And of course it's always nice to see Dr. Bashir especially since he's looking mighty good with that facial hair.

I'm hoping they end a season with Jack "dead". Keifer goes away for a year and then we find out he's alive (and, of course really, really pissed off) in the final episode of the Keifer-less season.

It's a good idea if Sutherland wants to take a year off.

But why would anyone watch it until the last episode? To enjoy 23 hours of Bill Buchanan talking on speaker phone and Chloe configuring a satellite?

So are you hoping they are grooming Ricky Schroder's character to fill in? That wouldn't be very smart.

So Sutherland has always claimed the show could work if he was killed off.

Would you guys watch season seven if, say, Jack Bauer was killed at the end of season six? What if season seven tied into season six and Jack Bauer and/or his murder and such, but of course, he was dead, and a new protaganist took his place? Would you still be interested due to the concept or would the death of Jack Bauer make you less of a "24" fan?

It would take a lot for me to continue viewing, but I can't say for sure, that I'd stop watching the show.

Bauer will not be killed off

You don't go signing a 3 year 45 million dollar contract to be a executive producer.

Unless they rework the contract..which is possible..

24 would not work without Jack Bauer.

Edit: Interesting question. If season 7 was used to solve bauer's death, I would stay the extra year to figure out what happened to bauer.

But other than that, no. I do not think 24 would have been as successful if it wasnt for Keifer. I know its all in hindsight, but no other show depends on its ONE mega star like 24. Would alias have gone foward if Jennifer Garner wasnt there?

Would House? Although I think they could, because they ahve STRONG supporting cast, does 24? Most of the strong cast is like a revolving door.

So my answer would be, stay on for 1 more season if it resolves around jack's death..if not? cya.

Although if they would have kept tony almedia alive..I think they could have worked with that some how..but with him dead..no.

I don't see why not. 15 mill/year to EP 24 hours of drama is not ridiculous.

I see Bauer's final season starting with his death then a title card: 24 hours eariler. The rest of the season shows us what lead up to his death.

It would be difficult to see the show continue without Bauer but they've always had a strong supporting cast each year. It would just be hard to promote without Sutherland on screen.

Considering they are making a 24 movie, I don't think Keifer is going anywhere in the near future.

Had is the keyword. They are all dead. Tony, IMO, is the only one who could have possibly kept the series going without Jack.

I wouldn't be too sure... that is what I thought about Battlestar Galactica Season 2.0... but there it was, Season 2.5 with only the final episodes of the season.

Nah. I agree with DJariya. This is just a quick way to make back some scratch they spend on the show.

They want to follow the same release formula since it is working so well translating into viewers for the January premier.

I doubt ABC would have let it, but I sure wanted it to.

The most interesting part of Alias was Rambaldi and the Jack, Sloane, Irina triangle.

You're making absolutely no sense.

Battlestar had a 3 month hiatus mid-season, and 2.0 was released on December 10 to promote the second half of the season, which started on January 6. It's a totally different situation from 24, which is going to air every week until it's done.

You're taking the very rare exception to the rule in TV on DVD and acting like it's a normal occurance.

Plus, the Battlestar Galactica DVD's used podcasts from Ron Moore on the Sci Fi Channel web site for the audio commentaries on those DVD's. Plus their really wasn't any bonus material on either of those sets other than some deleted scenes.

The 24 production team doesn't have time to work on the DVD's let alone any bonus material until the season is completed.

I never said it was a normal occurance. The point is that it has been done, and it CAN be done again. I can easily see other shows following suit for the all-mighty dollar... especially shows like Lost and Prison Break which had a mid-season hiatus - though only 6 weeks, not 3 months. 24 might not be a prime choice, but when I saw the commercial for the first 4 episodes on DVD that was my first reaction - "they better not try a Battlestar Galactica stunt and not release the full season in one box!"
