Amy is now crushing on Ephram, but he's still hung up on Madison, whom they bump into at a convenience store while stopping for munchies on the prom-o-bago. Amy backs off of Ephram after seeing how the chance meeting with Madison stops him emotionally in his tracks. In an effort to cut Bright off the cupid path, she alludes to him that she let Ephram know how she feels about him, but that it wasn't the right time for him and has Bright promise her that he doesn't talk about this with Ephram. Of course Bright brings up the subject, spills the beans for Amy, but plays it cool so as to not embarrass Amy in Bright's eyes. Now Ephram knows of Amy's feelings for him.
Andy's mentor comes to present a case that needs his surgical skills, but Andy refuses to take on the case on its merits (the case requires delicate brain surgery). The mentor passes out on his way out of town in Andy's kitchen, and Andy discovers the case was about his mentor's condition, and this spurs Andy to take the case, but now to the protestations of his mentor who reminds him it's be like when Andy operated on Colin last year. Andy presses on and gets his surgical team together for the surgery.

Especially since he'd been talking about Colin again, and the really suspicious "I was in the neighborhood and thought I'd drop in" lead-up to the visit. Geez, if he kills his mentor, I don't think I'll be able to sit through ANOTHER over-the-top sadness series.
Also, my favorite Best-of-Everwood moment of the night: Bright telling Ephram about Amy having feelings for him, and watching the dawning realization on Ephram's face, the emotions playing across his features, and then Bright saying something like, "I told Amy I wouldn't say anything, but I had to... Girls thing we're so dumb and clueless about stuff like this!"
The look on Ephram's face was priceless!!

Actually, I have another comment: when I was thinking about that "Oh no, now he might kill his MENTOR", I realized what this series was starting to remind me of: anyone remember "Party of Five"??? Great series, I watched most of it, but they had the 1)loss of a parent, 2)oldest brother spent all this time in an on-again-off-again romance with the nanny, and 3)there was just a lot of SADNESS, seemed like. This one is funnier, but boy, all of a sudden, I'm getting flashbacks...

First off, the ep...
Another top notch episode if you ask me. I think they actually utilized almost everybody who has been left out lately. Delian (ehh) and Erve and Edna got the week off, but that's okay. They made up for it with the in-laws and played off of mother-in-law and Harold's relationship with each other.
Really good scene between Bright and Harold as well as between Ephram and Andy.
I'd write some more, but I'm just so blown away by the preview for next week!!!
Okay, got that out of my system...little surpised at Amy's reaction. Yes I feel she was justified, but at the same time I felt it was a little off. Especially given the scenes for next week.
I'd like to put a thought on next week, but I can't figure out how to set the white font with a black background...

Thought this was another great episode. I'm glad that Bright is coming to grips with his future. Just because you go to college does not mean you have your life's course set in concrete. My life sure turned out different than I planned. haha
Interesting that the mother-in-law seemed back to her old ways, I thought she was put in her place at Thanksgiving.
I just cannot figure Amy out. I felt Ephram was justified in his anger and Amy was acting flaky.
Previews appear very, very interesting. Waiting for next week.

Good ep.
I never realized Bright shared the same name as his father.
They need to start calling him Harold from here on out. It is time for him to grow up afterall.
I liked Ephram's rant to Amy about her playing him for over a year and he played her for one day.

I see Amy as a very controlling type of person. After all, the apple does not fall too far from the tree, and look at her dad. She wanted to be in control of her relationship with Ephram from the get-go (her playing him for a year) and she's wanted to be in control of her relationships with her parents and with Colin, and when those relationships didn't go the way she wanted to, she bolted and got depressed. I think she was trying to control Ephram again, to have a relationship with him on HER terms, and when it was obvious it was not just on her terms, she got pissy and flaky, again. I do hope this is a character flaw they soon resolve in her, because if they don't she will soon become annoying on the show as Lana is on Smallville.
I do feel sorry for Harold losing his practice, however. My question is can he go and work for Andy and be covered under his insurance? If so, that would be an interesting season three element in the series.

I believe that is what will happen. Andy seemingly is independently wealthy and would probably be able to cover the insurance as long as Dr. Abbot is an "employee". Might make for some very interesting conflicts.
Just ready to see if Amy remains flaky with Ephram's departure near. Come on next Monday.

Quick recap:
Andy struggles to convince Douglas that he can do the necessary surgery to remove all of the tumor. Finally Douglas gives his consent, begrudgingly.
Bright doesn't want to go to graduation, even though his grandparents (Betty White and the old guy) show up from Arizona to watch the ceremony. Bright feels like he's being left behind since all his friends have plans after high school. Then Harold gets the bad news of being turned down for medical insurance coverage, and Bright finds that not knowing his future doesn't mean his life is done, and given Harold's uncertainty of a medical future, Bright comes to grips with his own circumstances and agrees to go to graduation.
Harold tries to keep his medical practice trouble from his in-laws, going to the trouble of having fake patients in his office while looking at a boil for his father-in-law. Harold's nurse shows up unexpectedly and pretty much blows Harold's deception to pieces.
Since Andy is busy with surgery, Ephram has an audition for the summer program at Juliard in Boulder, and Amy invites herself along. She gives Ephram a pep talk when Ephram gets the jitters and wants to leave before auditioning. He plays, and later they decide to stay for dinner and Amy finally lets Ephram know how she feels about him, and Ephram plays it too cool, tipping his hand (since Bright had already told Ephram about Amy's feelings for him) and Amy gets all verklampt about it all, and Ephram lets loose a painful revelation that he knew that Amy played him for a year when he showed up in town, and he turned around and played her for a day. Amy is emotionally hurt by this and they agree to not do the "couple" thing.
Later, Ephram does get accepted to Juliard for the summer program. At Bright's graduation, he tells Amy of the news and that they are okay not being an item. Amy's still hurt by the situation. Bright does walk to receive his diploma, and we find out his name is Harold Brighton Abbott.

I knew Harold would end up partnering with Andy. The insurance might work out if Harold officially works for Andy's practice. You can't sue someone's practice for something a doctor did before joining the practice. Maybe there will be a clause that no lawsuits pertaining to periods before the partnership began will be covered. Andy probably has a friend in the malpractice insurance business whose relative he once saved or something.
The Madison thing from next week is interesting. I have this feeling that it's another WB spin the previews to make you think something will happen kind of thing.
Harold has always seemed closer to Amy, until recently. It's neat that after his relationship with Bright becomes stronger we find out that Bright's first name is Harold.

Although, you idea would be nice... then he could boss his Mom around... and I don't think Edna will stand for that.

I also thought Amy over-reacted on her anger towards Ephram. She should have been upset at Bright, not Ephram. But Ephram really didn't explain the situation well. He should have said what really happened: that Bright assumed Amy had already told Ephram about her feelings and he just played along like he knew. It wasn't his fault that Bright let the cat out of the bag-- it wasn't even Bright's. Amy lied to Bright and made him think she told Ephram already so he had no ideaa he was letting anything slip.

I really enjoyed this finale, not to much of a cliffhanger. It was a good episode that just carried on the current storylines without resorting to overly elaborate plot lines. Exception - Madison and Dr. Brown. Don't really see how this secret will be kept unless Madison actually leaves Everwood.
Bright has really turned into a good friend of Ephram's and I enjoy their interaction each week.
Glad to see that Andy and Harold will be partners. Really great potential for next season.
This was a pleasant way to end this season.
Enjoyable.

I doubt Madison's "secret" will stay secret for too much longer. She will either find a way to tell him in New York, or he will figure it out when he comes back and she is obviously showing. Either way, I think the plesant ending of this season will be contrasted to a tumultuous start of next season when the proverbial sheeit hits the fan and Ephram figures it all out. I doubt he will see his dad's wisdom in withholding this information.
And personally, I am kind of disappointed that Dr Brown's bagle shoppe didn't work out. We are constantly reminded of how stupid these small town folk really are, and I am really getting tired of the stereotypes. Not that I am from a small town, but I have family who lives in a small town, and I don't see small town people are really this stupid as this series portrays them as.

I'll post more when I have time, but I agreen with both of you for the most part.
I was a little surprised that there wasn't much of a cliffhanger. However, I am guessing that Andy's cliffhanger
, coupled with the final sequence are foreshadowing something to be determined for next year.
Meanwhile, that was shway cool what Amy did. I just wish it was under somewhat different circumstances. That said, I really like Madison, but I hate the way this is turning out. The only saving grace will be if she has a miscarriage over the summer and Ephram still finds out. That way E and A can go on without worries of a third, or in this case fourth party, and E and Andy can have it out.

Madison's pregnancy is a ticking timebomb that will explode next season. Amy and Ephram might be in lovey-dovey land right now, but come next fall, Ephram is going to be sorely tested should Madison's condition become discovered (or worse yet, the writers don't bring Madison back until after the baby is born, and Amy and Ephram are really in love and then have this to deal with). I think Andy's wrong in what he offered Madison. But Madison is going to take the "hush" money from Andy because it's the easy route for now.
How frikkin' rich is Andy? He seems to have unlimited resources.
How sad for Andy to realize that it took the senseless tragedy of Julia's death to wake him up, slow down, and see all that is around him.
Obviously Harold's forte is not in new business analysis. Perhaps Bright works there in the interim if Harold can't divest himself from the place. I do wonder how they'll determine what to charge patients since Andy was giving away his services and medicine.

I liked the Ephram storyline a lot for this season finale but hated the Madison/Dr. Brown plot-line. It just seemed so trite and so much like an obvious plot development that would be on a bad tv drama. I don't understand how Everwood can do so many things right, but have a couple moments of pure tv drivel.
I feel bad for Dr. Abbot but am glad that he and Andy will be combining their practices.
As glad as I am that Ephram and Amy have seemingly worked it out, the whole Madison thing kept giving me a very disturbing feeling whenever Ephram and Amy were on the screen together. I guess I don't like them getting together when we, the tv viewers, know that Madison is pregnant with Ephram's baby. It just seems like an episode of Jerry Springer or something.
Finally, am I the only one who thinks that Dr. Abbot should have converted his bagel shop into Donuts and let Bright run it? If there was anyone who would be a great salesman, it HAS to be Bright...

I'm terribly disappointed w/ the producers and where they are dragging the Madison storyline. They should have let it be.
Excited to see what becomes of the partnership between Drs. Abbott and Brown.
Bright and Ephram became the best part of the show this year.
The ending between Amy and Ephram was sweet.
Andy's dreams were a tad depressing.
