It was a solid episode. It was nice to see the focus more on Dr. Abbot's family and their dynamics.

Anyone else love Colin lil' sis. I think she is so cute. Love to see her and Ephram get back together.

I liked the episode, although I thought it was a little strange how some of the characters seemed reversed. For instance, Dr. Abbott & his wife. Their big blow-up about Amy after dinner seemed like it should have been the doctor who was upset at Amy, and the mom who was sympathetic. That is how the characters were written last season.

Also, all of a sudden, Bright being very principled and not wanting to use Colin's death as a way to excuse his academics. That seemed like something Amy would have said/done.

But overall a good episode, and I guess it is nice to see the character's behave in unexpected ways. I liked that they gave Amy's mom something more to do, and I am liking Bright more.

Was it just me, or did this episode look kind of dark to anyone? The lighting, etc. seemed very darker than usual and than most network shows.

to the focus on the Abbot family. Dr. Abbot is definitely the best part of the show.

I didn't know that was Colin's lil' sis. I was wondering who the cute brunette was. Guess I never payed attention before.

From the look of next week's preview, it's going to be good.

I also liked Dr. Brown when he put the girl w/ the implants and her mother in their place the second time they saw him.

I agree, Bright improved by leaps and bounds this episode. It was great for his character's story arc.

I love this show too much. I'm really impressed with the way they weave the stories into isolated themes. The characters progress as we would expect them to, and the story continues, but there's a defined theme to each episode, and a very good one at that. Another solid episode as always.

Patman, re: Juilliard, perhaps you're remembering Marsters at Dragon*Con who said that for most Juliard was a horrible place that tried to destroy people's dreams instead of help them succeed. I've heard such things many times from people who attended there or got rejected. I almost cried when that one lady came up and said that she gave up her dreams to be a musician when a Juilliard rep told her she would never be "good enough," and she's regretted it her entire life.

I love how the dumbest character on the show is called "Bright."

Yeah, I thought it was werird that Ephram seemed ready to give up his music aspirations just because the guy from Juilliard told him he wasn't good enough. Juilliard is probably the hardest music program to get into. But there are thousands of other music programs he could apply to.

That would be like deciding not to go to college, because a Harvard rep told you couldn't get into Harvard.

Love the show. Kudos to the producers and writers for having to guts to go through with Colin's

Like before, i'm glad that they're moving away from th Colin storyline, it got real old real fast. Also, kudos to the writers for not focusing on the aftermath and having most people move on.

Ah... Dragon Con was where I heard all those horror stories of Juliard crushing too many people's dreams and aspirations.

And it does seem that a few more of these Juliard stories are finding their way into the stories in shows nowadays. Perhaps some axes are being used for grinding.

I keep meaning to post this and keep forgetting: I don't like the new title sequence. I really liked how the old one just focused on the artwork, starting with a lone character and pulling out to reveal the full picture. Trying to mix it with the live stuff just feels clunky to me.

Everwood - "My Brother's Keeper" (09.29)

My Brother's Keeper
The entire Abbot's family is turned upside down by the return of Dr. Linda Abbott (Marcia Cross, "Melrose Place"), who has been practicing Eastern-based medicine in exotic locations the world. Edna (Debra Mooney), who is blinded with pride, doesn't see her daughter's loneliness, and loses sight of her own life with Irv (John Beasely). But Linda encounters the most resistance from her brother Harold (Tom Amandes) when she announces her decision to join his practice. Meanwhile, Andy (Treat Williams) learns that some 'tweens may be practicing unsafe sex, and is shocked at their parents reaction to the situation. Finally, Bright (Chris Pratt) asks Ephram (Gregory Smith) to keep an eye on Amy (Emily VanCamp), whose odd behavior has everyone worried.
It was a good episode, bordering on preachy with the "sex club" storyline. Plus, the little kid looked like Magilla. Creepy.

Laynie did a 180, thanks to the writers. Last season she was wise and mature and now, she's the drunk slut/bad influence.

The addition of the sister sounds interesting, but I don't know if she would work as a romantic intrest for Andy. Seems a little off.

geez...what the hell is with this show and sex/boob jobs? It's getting a bit old...and extreme. Otherwise, not a horrible episode, mostly just an intro duction to Dr. Abbott's sis. Oh well, Looks like we'll be seeing more of her. Also, Amy's hot, and the whole drunken slut plotline never really planned out. Complete anti-climax.

Talk about inspired casting to have Claudia Christian play young Edna "abandoning" her 2 young children in the name of serving her country.

I liked Marcia Cross's introduction as Harold's sister, and now new resident of Everwood. The hashing out of past hurts among the Abbotts was done well, good dramatic stuff.

Andy's subplot wasn't as compelling, but Nina finally comes forward with her own big secret that she's been carrying for the past 5 months. Andy and Nina would make a good couple, but you know Andy is going to have some attraction to Harold's sister Linda (much to Harold's inevitable bemusement and eyerolling).

Why has Lanie turned into this booze-seeking-party person, or is she just being a private school student turned loose on a public school system. Ephram's retort to the college guys wanting to throw him and Bright out was short, curt and to the point.

I simply like Everwood...while this episode was somewhat tame as far as Drama goes...look at where they live. Everwood is fortunate to have a good cast of people and some pretty decent writers for the show. Anyone want to bet when Doc Brown and Nina will hook up?

Holy carp, this show has a lot of characters. I enjoyed the episode, although it wasn't anything overly special. While I'd rather everyone be super happy and have Amy locked up in my closet ... I mean, over for dinner sometime ... I like where they're taking these characters, and I hope they have some good plans for this season.

Everwood 10/6

Great episode! I find I am loving this show more and more.

I loved Ephram's paper at the end about how easy it is not to change, and how they intercut that narration with scenes of Nina, Colin's dad, Amy, etc. all who are "stuck" in their situations. Andy's symbolic removal of his wedding band was a nice touch while Ephram talked about the small changes you can make.

I liked seeing more of Marcia Cross' character although I was hoping for more interaction with Andy.
Spoiler:
Although from the previews, I guess that is happening next week.

The baby-sitter is an interesting character although I am not sure the actress had the most believable performance at all times. I hope to see more of the character though. I thought it was interesting how initially you thought Ephram was going to be all hot for the babysitter, but he instead just resented her right off the bat.

I didn't like Madison. She was all self-rightous and was wrong to bother Ephram. At some point, people are too old to be baby-sat. She's really not needed.

Andy was pretty unlikeable this episode, as well. Kudos to Nina (who, I believe this episode, was added as an official cast member, with an offical drawing of her in the opening. That was new, right?) for calling Andy out on his control-freaking with Mr. Hart.

Ephram's introspective voiceover was a nice change from Irv's musings. Yay for character development.

Very solid episode. I somewhat miss the emotional episodes from last season (although I was running low on tissues), but the show is still very strong. I know I harp on this from week to week, but it still impresses me how well they incorporate the themes into all these different lives. It made me smile to hear Harold talk about working a theme into his speech.

It looks like they've got some plans for Delia that should be interesting. One of the things I really respected about last season was how they took the loveably perfect Amy and brought her back to teenage girl reality.

I find I just sit and watch this show with a big stupid grin on my face, and it never seems to disappoint.

We will see....I would bet there will be a Madison/Ephram relationship in the future. If not....then it may be a jealousy thing for Amy to finally see the "light".

Solid episode, with so many laughs thrown into the mix.

Sarah Lancaster (Madison) got more juicy dialogue than she's used to (like playing the candy stripe girl on "Scrubs" that JD lusted after last season). Glad Madison got to put both Brown men in their place.

Oh, next episode is the one where
Spoiler:
Delia lets fly a naughty wordy dirdy

Harry and Linda are going to be fun take jabs at each other (literally).

Did not like that babysitter at all. What an overbearing wench. The kid's 16 and does want you, leave him alone. I will say that her blow-up was well-deserved, if not a little out of line. Oh well, and Delia next week...damn... Oh and a big thumbs down to the nearly complete absence of AMY from the show. BOOOO!!

I laughed out loud when Bright scoffed and called Walczak "Ball Sack" at the dinner table!
