On Amy's dream, at first I thought it was her letting go... but then I got the suicide thought and was shocked... they could be heading her that way.

I'm really starting to think Bright is a great guy, and is trying to be the support for Amy. His line "if she needs medication to get better, then do it" was a great support for Amy but fell on deaf ears.

The best line of the night was:

Andy: "Everybody... go to your rooms."

Linda: "I don't have a room here."

Can't wait for next week.

Everwood is still the best written show that no one is watching!

The FCC doesn't regulate the cable channels. Basic cable is "self censored" for fear of losing advertising.

So they can basically do whatever they want. They just choose not to.

They're both right. That's what is so great about this show. This is a great modern moral dilemma without an easy answer, and I too would do everything in my power to avoid medicating my child with drugs unless absolutely necessary. It may be the right call in this instance, but I can completely understand his hesitation. At what point do you break on this issue? He's not just being selfish. It may turn out very bad for all of them, but I don't believe he's just being stuborn. He truly believes that she's better off getting through this herself, even if she hates him for it.

I was wondering if maybe they are setting it up for Amy's mom to go to Dr. Brown to get him to prescribe the medication for Amy behind Dr. Abbott's back. If I was her mom, that's probably what I would do. I agree with Dr. Abbott that people should not take medications willy-nilly, but Amy is obviously suffering and it has gone on too long. I don't think I'd bear to watch my daughter go through that and I'd want to help her feel better any way possible.

I, too, got misty-eyed at the speech at the end. At first, i thought Delia was going to use her dad, but when she started to talk about her mom, I just lost it. Marcia Cross does look very similar to the actress that played her mom in flashbacks. So I guess that also explains why she "laid down the law" over her.

My only complaint was the dinner scene-- why do TV shows always have to portray vegetarians as wacky who eat crappy food? Most vegetarians do not eat millet. They pulled this shit on Gilmore Girls and Six Feet Under, also. Linda has lived overseas so long, I am surprised she wouldn't have brought over some exotic ethnic vegetarian food, not bland, hippie shit.

Don't forget the infamous South Park episode where they said shit like 162 times.

Everwood was muted here in Detroit. I think it kind of took away from the impact of her saying the word and hurt the scene.

I got the impression that millet was something that Linda got from her overseas adventures. People in this country don't even know that millet is food, but I imagine people in Asia still consume tons of it.

I wonder if Brenda Strong will ever re-appear as the wife/mother. Caught her on the Lyons Den the other night. Nice to see that Sally managed to find some work after West Coast Update.

Loved the ep, but hate Madison. She's obnoxious because she'll egg Ephram on by doing things she must know will piss him off (calling him Skippy, etc.) and then criticize him for being pissed about it. She's one of those smartass people who turn around and get defensive when someone calls them on it.

Maybe we should start a Poll... "Who will Ephram lose his virginity to? Madison or Amy?"... for we all know that they are heading that direction!

Madison as eye candy is okay by me. Remembering her as JD's candy striper object of desire on "Scrubs" seals the deal.

I like the way Madison gets Efram's goat on just about everything. It's good for him to have someone to focus his hate on, after a year of pining for Amy.

Exactly. She is excellent eye candy. Also, her character is obviously a positive for the Brown family, because she sees things that they don't see initially and can point these things out to them if need be. And it is good to see Ephram focus his love/hate on somebody new.

I think F/X policy is to keep it clean for any show before 10PM, then it's fair game.

She's irritating and self-righteous. She had no place ordering a 16-year old around, since she is only supposed to take care of Delia. There's little chemistry betweeen her and Ephram, so if , I would be highly disappointed.

Everybody on this show is self-righteous at one point or another. Who cares if she is? She's gorgeous and it's someone other than Amy for Ephram to interact w/.

I think it's funny that when the series bagan, Dr. Abbott was the only doctor in town, and now there are three of them!

I don't see how Madison is self-righteous. I like her and it has nothing to do with her beauty. She's totally understanding with Ephram and Delia and yet still has a backbone. She hasn't even had enough lines for anyone to call her self-righteous. I'm with BAHist on this one. I don't get the hatred towards her.

I think you might be a bit oversensitive on this. Firstly, I didn't see where the writers indicated that she was necessarily vegetarian. She only said she had a "strict diet". It just happened that none of her food contained meat. And I didn't think the food looked crappy. In fact, I was kind of salivating at the thought of potato and spinach cakes. Secondly, I don't think Linda's wacky at all. She may be the most normal well-adjusted person on the show.

Actually the food that Linda brought over reminds me of the food served at a nearby macrobiotic restaurant. It's possible that Linda is macrobiotic. I like eating at that restaurant, but it's the kind of place that I would never take a non-vegetarian to. The food is definitely more for die-hards and would not be the type of food that would convince a meat-eater that vegetarian food is not that different. I think if you're bringing vegetarian food to non-vegetarians you should make sure it is more accessible (stir-fries, curries, etc. that don't need meat or rely heavily on meat analogues.)

And I like Linda, also.

I'm pretty sure shit was muted in One Tree Hill last week too.

Pretty or not, I still find her a PITA to watch. Ah well.

The show isn't mocking vegetarians. The show is depicting how non-vegetarians mock vegetarians ... which they do. I think you're being overly sensitive on this. If these characters didn't respond this way (considering how they typically act), that would be odd to me. Perhaps Linda could have brought over better transitional food like you mentioned earlier, but she's established herself pretty well as not needing anyone else's approval and doing things her own way.

Anyway, forgot to mention the 'Once More with Feeling' songbook they were carrying around. Nice touch.

When you have 1 character bringing over strange food, and all the other characters (even Andy who is usually more open-minded about things) rolls his eyes and makes jokes to the other characters about how the food is crappy, it does leave an impression to the viewers that it is ok to think that vegetarians are odd and eat crappy food. It would have been better if even one of the characters (Ephram perhaps?) had expressed an interest in vegetarianism or seemed to enjoy it. The way it was depicted was like, even over and above everything this family disagrees on, they can all agree on mocking the vegetarian food. I would love to have all these characters for dinner at my house-- I would cook them a meal so delicious, they wouldn't even miss the meat.

Sorry if I appear "oversensitive" on this issue. it's just that to many people, their only exposure to vegetarianism is through depictions in the media. I often run into people who have this pre-conceived notion that vegetarian food is crappy, and they seem genuinely surprised that my food actually has a taste. We all don't subsist on steamed vegetables and tempeh loaf.

Have you been watching the show? Ephram ... sensitive to vegetarians? May as well ask Dr. Abbott fight for legalized prostitution. Delia clearly won't like it because she hates Linda. Dr. Brown can be polite about stuff, but he's pretty set in his ways, and he sure likes pizza.

Just because 2 characters don't like Linda's cooking (Linda, who is presented as a very talented and intelligent alternate thinker, not a crackpot) isn't an indictment of vegetarians. I really think you're projecting. As a meat-loving pig, I got "they didn't like Linda's cooking" from the scene, not "vegetarians can't cook." You want a PSA midscene where Treat Williams faces the camera and says, "although the characters in this scene do not enjoy this particular meal, we want to make it clear that vegetarians are good people, and their food can often taste very good."
