Blind Faith

How many love triangles can the town of Everwood handle? Evidently, at least 2 for now.

Efram hates being Amy's "backup" and lets her know how hurt he is by his status in her life. After Bright talks some sense into her, Efram lets loose a big celebratory kiss on Madison after finally passing his driving test and getting his driver's license. Of course, Amy is there to witness the kiss, but unknown to her, Madison did all she could to quell Efram's hormones, and Efram's blood supply finally reached his brain again and he came to his senses.

In the background brewing is the eventual love triangle between Linda, Andy and Nina. It's a coming...

Harold's attempt to set up Linda (and keep her away from Andy) are comedic and futile, but it was fun to watch Harold's idea of what a suitable suitor would be for his kid sister.

Andy pushes the town priest to undergo experimental surgery so he can see just a little bit for his wedding, which got moved up from end of the year, to this week. The priest has the whole town praying for him, and Andy's suggested surgery doesn't help and Andy feels horrible, but the priest is resilient after an outpouring of support from the town.

The wedding goes off without a hitch, and Efram and Amy come to an understanding about their "availability" and it creates some more distance between them.

Overall, another fine episode with lots of funny bits.

My favorite part had to be the driving instructor's "E-Fram!" I was rolling.

Another great episode. Before last weeks and this weeks episodes, I just thought Amy was a bitch this season. Now, based on her interactions w/ Bright and Ephram, I feel so sorry for her. I really do want to give her a hug...

My favorite part was also E-fram Brown I am still laughing about it. E-Fram driving the bug over the curb trying to parallel park was very funny also. Everwood is a wonderful show. I think the show is seldom watched due to many people not having the WB station and the fact that the WB is a small network.

Is Andy Jewish? Is Andy an ordained minister too?

Actually, I think he's either agnostic or athetist. Ephram and Delia are only half Jewish, and last season, they went to NY for Julia's burial, which is a Jewish tradition.

I think Rose just made him eligible to perform a wedding service. Rose has power, man.

Everwood (11/3): Three Miners from Everwood

When a coal mine collapses, Dr. Brown, together with Edna, Linda and Harold Abbott, rush to the scene to assist their neighbors. One miner is Will Cleveland (guest star James Earl Jones), a jazz pianist who has recently become Ephram's mentor. The other is Abbott's next door neighbor (guest star Beau Bridges), whose outrageous building plans Harold has tried to thwart. The third one, Andy's patient Ellie Beels (guest star Kirsten Nelson), who has been trying to conceive a baby. All three doctors utilize their special skills under terrible conditions, but it is Andy who must confront his biggest fears in order to save lives.
Wonderful episode. Well written. Well acted. Well done.

James Earl Jones should get an Emmy nod for this performance as the old musician/miner.

to the entire team over at Everwood!

Spoiler:
Since they all survived, do you think they'll get anymore screentime? I'd love to see Beau face when he sees what Harold did with the lighthouse and JEJ's chemistry with Ephram was timeless.

Looks like next week's theme is "Love is in the air!"

Note: In three weeks we meet Dr. Abbott's mother-in-law... Betty White! (and look who's moving to Everwood... isn't that Luthor's other kid?)

It was a tearjerker of an episode, but it was done very well, and didn't cross into the preachy or melodramatic territory. I really did get emotional during some parts of the episode, and the guest stars did such an excellent job. The folks at NBC should take notes, especially the Will and Grace writers.

I thought James Earl Jones and Kirsten Nelson did good jobs, but I felt Beau Bridges' performance was the best. It was more compelling, I felt, than the couple getting pregnant. James Earl Jones had a good little backstory, but it didn't conclude as nicely as I would have liked. The whole lighthouse thing had me in almost-tears.

Linda Abbot did some serious foreshadowing. I see three letters in her future.

Amy Abbot is being all bitchy again. Yuck.

I think you mean 4 letters (edit: oh yeah, I guess 3 letters would also be right). Yeah, that's what I'm seeing too. I wish they wouldn't have made it so obvious though. If they were going to do that, they should've revealed it as a cliffhanger to end a show and then start up the next show dealing with that. Instead, now we have to wait half a season for the inevitable. Anyhow, I still enjoyed the episode a lot.

Kudos to the writers for bringing Art Tatum to the attention of its viewers. Good stuff.

I liked the back stories of the 3 victims trapped in the mine presented in this episode. Overall, another good solid episode.

I enjoyed Ephram discovering the piano stylings that open him up to more than just classical and into the more expressive forms of jazz piano playing from the James Earl Jones character, Will Cleveland.

You get the feeling the legend of the lighthouse in Everwood grew as the story of Andy doing another medical miracle got around for Harold's neighbor. The flashback to Harold falling over his fence to find out what his neighbor was building was comical.

The sense of loss by Ellie and her husband wasn't underplayed given how much her husband gave to Bright in ripping him a new one for not taking his future college plans seriously.

I didn't like the possibility of quashing Linda and Andy's romantic prospects with the spectre of either hepatitus or HIV in her system given her life all over the world, especially in the 3rd world countries.

I really enjoyed this ep, too. Dr. Abbott and Andy were great in the mine together, especially when Harold was telling Andy that he knew what Andy was capable and telling him to save the life of Beau Bridges character.

Harold was funny as hell when he wanted to know what Beau was building in the backyard.

In regards to Linda
Spoiler:
HIV/AIDS was the first thing that popped into my mind, too. I wonder when she will pop the news to her family, if she came home to die, or if she will just split town sooner or later.

It was nice to see a break from Amy's storyline, though it looks like we will get back to it next week.

Ephram and James Earl Jones scenes together were nice as well.

Bright's character continues to grow, which is a plus.

I missed the last few minutes of the episode, so I am guessing that is why I have no clue what you guys are talking about with Linda. Could someone fill me in? What exactly was said?

Linda didn't want to give the woman miner a blood transfusion, even though Harold was sure of Linda's blood type, because Linda fears she may have contracted hepatitus during in her travels around the world.

Now we, the viewers, have jumped ahead and assumed that Linda may have contracted HIV and is wary of starting new relationships, and may have returned to Everwood to live out her remaining years.

You know, the very first time the blood-type thing was mentioned (with Harold "mistaking" her blood type) I thought they were going to set it up that Linda or Harold somehow has the wrong blood type for the family and that one of them was adopted. I knew the whole thing had to be mentioned for a reason. But at the end, when he confronted her about it, I also got the more ominous HIV vibe. She still seemed evasive when she told him the hepatitis story.

I didn't think I'd like this episode at forst, but it won me over. Very well-written, and I especially liked James Earl Jones' storyline (brought to you by eBay.)

I was waiting for Ephram to go into the "Ebay Song and Dance" number when he knocked on Will's door with the new record in the package.

If you don't want to be spoiled about what is up with Linda, avoid the episode description in two weeks. I was just looking at my Tivo guide and I read the description of an upcoming episode (11/17):

Spoiler:
It said that Linda has to reveal to Andy that she is HIV-positive.

Everwood 11/10/03

Recap:

While buying a car for Ephram, Andy comes across the town's seer (and mechanic) who hears things directs a child to see Andy about meningitis, and the seer turns out to be right. The seer also tells Andy some thing that he heard, and 2 out of 3 come true, and the 3rd didn't yet because he tried to make it happen.

The seer also tells Ephram that the right girl would dig the car he bought (some old New Yorker like car, I think), while Ephram protested to the contrary about the car not being a chick magnet.

Ephram helps Madison with her band, and Ephram wows Madison with his musical talent and understanding of writing melodies/music for her song. Ephram later is crushed when he sees the tempermental guitarist and Madison kiss (hang out). Ephram confronts Madison, and lays it out on the line regarding his feelings for her, and Madison is more confused than ever. Epfram even lands another kiss with little nary a protestation from Madison.

Amy is still in her depression. She winds up just driving and driving until she ends up in Wyoming. Harold and Linda go get her. Linda suggests some meditation techniques for Amy, but Amy just uses the opportunity to steal a prescription form from Linda and writers herself a prescription for some anti-depressants. The pharmacy busts her when they call Harold to confirm the replacement of the pills with generics. Amy is confronted by her parents and Harold gives in and writes her a prescription, but it was the last thing he wanted for his daughter.

Linda needs help unpacking her stuff, and she's a packrat. Andy gets the push from Edna to help Linda, and they share some time together in her new place, and when the time seemed right, Andy moved in for a kiss and Linda sloughs it off, and things become awkward.

Linda and Edna talk about the moving date, and Linda finally spills the beans about her condition. Linda is HIV+ and doesn't want to start a relationship with anyone at this point in her life. She's made peace with it. The news hits Edna like a ton of bricks.

Later, Andy talks with the seer, and how news has gotten out on his "save" of the boy with meningitis, and his life has gotten complicated again. Andy suggest that the seer hear about an avalanche (that isn't coming) to get the town off his back.

While the town of Everwood is preparing to evacuate, Andy spots Linda in the town and he lays it on the line, still not knowing her medical condition, tells her that he likes her and that he thought she should know. Andy leaves, and Linda is just perplexed in what she should do in this situation. Edna goes home, and is just crying from the news, and she collapses in Irv's arms, sobbing uncontrollably.

--

Another good episode and with just enough plausibility of the seer's abilities to make you think he is clair-audiant.

Great episode overall. I was surprised to see J Jonah Jameson in the role of the mechanic. Does anybody think that Amy may try killing her self with an overdose of the perscription her dad reluctantly gave her?

Yah, he also plays the white supermist in Oz. Everwood was a much nicer role for him!

He's also a psychiatrist on Law and Order.

Re : Madison - From the previews she says
Spoiler:
"What we did was illegal" and since she was staying the night, Ephram probably got some from the older girl
