Rock Star: Supernova

Jill really deserved to go home, but in my mind, Dana was set to be booted at least 1-2 episodes from now anyway. she was definitely annoying with her "i'm becoming a rocker!" quotes.
I wasn't super surprised to see Patrice in the bottom 3. she didn't really kill her performance with Tommy... but tonight, she had me at "Jeff Buckley". I freakin' love that dude. she did a pretty decent job on "Eternal Life". it's hard to match the original.

Does anyone know how the show decides which songs the singers will have to pick from? Can they use any sone or do they have to have the bands permission? Every week there has been a Nirvana song, almost evryweek there has been a Bowie song, and there is always alot of '80s pop. It really seems like they are limited in what they have to choose from.

As my previous post suggested, I was glad to see Dana leave last night. Although, I did think that was her best performance last night.
I know "House of the Rising Sun" has been recorded many times over. I was wondering if anyone knows of a version of that song that stretches on for 7-10 minutes or so. I don't mind the vocals ending around the 3 min mark, but I'd like to hear a band just drag out the music for awhile - similar to how The Beatles "I Want You (She's So Heavy) drags on. I did enjoy how the band played it last night: very heavy, but never losing the blues.

Wow....Suprised that Dana left. Not quite sure why they would kick out a person that is growing. I know she would never be picked to front the band but neither will Jill or Patrice.

If you're feeling really adventurous, track down the version by Andy Griffith.

Pissed me off to see dana leave. She's not my favorite but jill the stripper and patrice were absolutely horrible. The only Reason patrice did "Good" was because tommy lee was playing the damn drums. She sings horribly.

I'm in (mostly) complete dissagrement there. I was shocked to see Patrice in the bottom three. Especially over many others that rightfully should have been there (Lukas, Zayara, etc...) I've yet to hear Patrice sing badly - in fact she's got one of the best female voices on the show. The only negative thing I can say about her was that her performance of "Remedy" was kind of blah. But it wasn't because she didn't sing it well, just that the perfomance was kind of boring.
Jill just keeps going more over the top in the wrong direction with each perfomance. Out of the three last night, it really should have been her.
Dana could have stuck around a little longer.
Still, I will conceded that as much as I might like certain people, I'm not sure if they, or any of the women will actually make it to front Supernova. Dillana or Storm probably have the best shot - but I figured on Patrice at least making it to the final six, and then over the likes of Jill and Zayra, too.
Now as for the guys - I don't know what it is, eaxactly, but I can't stand Ryan. I don't like his personality, or (and not that this really matters) his looks, and I'm certainly not a fan of his singing at all. None of his performances have blown me away - but last night's was the closest he's come to actually impressing me. He just comes off as a really weak coffehouse-Dave Matthew-lite, and not even a good one at that. I still don't think he's "brought it" yet. I don't see him fronting the band, either.
But, that's just me, and I guess we'll see.
I do believe that next week's challenge, especially, will really show who's got it, and who doesn't.

Nirvana songs every week really make no sense for this show.
Dana just started up and I think it stinks that she was in the bottom 3 in the first place. She shouldn't have gotten the boot yet.

Magni seems to do well on songs with familiar hooks (a bit karoake-sounding at times), but I wonder how he'll sound on songs that require interpretation to update it to Supernova's "sound".

Magni is the perfect cover band singer. He has been able to change his voice to sound exactly like the original song. This is the reason he doesn't stick out each week. Many of the other singers try too hard. Newstead basically said his favorite is Magni so far. I have a feeling he will jump to the lead in the next coming weeks.

god, i just love brooke's absolute inability to do anything other than read cue cards...
like when talking about magni being away from his family. she says, "i feel for you magni" in the most montonous, leveled drone. lot of emotion there, brooke!
