So the same songs tonight?

LorenzoL 03-23-05 10:31 AM

http://idolonfox.com/

The homepage of the American Idol website indicates tonight show at 9pm will combine "new live elements with encores of Tuesday's performances". So I don't think that they are performing again.

Jray 03-23-05 10:35 AM

So they're singing the same songs as last night? That would seem to make the most sense, so as to not give someone a "mulligan" and let them pick a different song if they did poorly the first time.

What a clusterf**k this is.

Edit: D'oh! I keep getting beaten to the punch as I type.

The problem I have in Mikalah is not so much her singing... though it is below this year's pretty above-average-for-AI crop. It's the way she performs... her punching the air during that song last night struck me as particularly odd.

My wife thinks Bo looks like Meatloaf, and with that in mind, I keep on expecting him to sing "I would do anything for love but I won't do that"...

Meanwhile, after watching "the pacifier" (hey, it was free!), Carrie keeps reminding me of Brittany Snow (I don't watch American Dreams).

So what got preempted so that Fox could do this? And how hard is it to show numbers in sequence? I know they have to rush to get the snippet of the last performance in the summary at the end, but geez. Are people really going to watch the same show they watched last night, then vote (500 times) again???

Something I never heard of anyway called "Life On A Stick"

SEAN "P. Diddy" Combs is conspicuously silent about whether he's signed "American Idol" dropout Mario Vazquez to a record deal.

"I can't discuss that right now," Combs told The Post yesterday.

Vazquez, 28, a favorite to win "American Idol," stunned everyone, including his mother, when he abruptly left the show 10 days ago for "personal reasons."

Since then, some reports have emerged that he quit to sign with Combs' Bad Boy Records. Vazquez is contractually committed to "AI" until the show is over in May.

"I can't really have any comment on that at this time," Combs said yesterday. "We're hopefully about to announce our plans for our next era."

If Vazquez had stayed with "Idol" and won the competition, he would have been automatically signed to a contract with RCA records.

Tommy Ceez 03-23-05 11:05 AM

Does anyone care about Mario Vazquez anymore?

Thanks for the report gettinbranded. That's the first I've heard that specific rumor. Sounds like there's something to it since P. Diddy didn't just out-and-out deny it.

This kid will be a star, mark my words. And with someone like P. Diddy backing him... the sky's the limit. I'm no P. fan or anything but you can't argue with the man's resume. He has the power and clout (not to mention producing skills) to make Mario blow up. As a matter of fact, assuming this is true, I'll go on record right now and say that he'll be bigger, sell more records, etc. than anyone else on AI currently.

You can also guarantee that this is the last time it'll happen...the AI contracts will be re-written to prevent/discourage it.

It woudn't suprise me that he resorts to this after seeing his Making the Band show yesterday. He has absolutely no talent signed up in his competition.

Hmmm... :hscratch: like New Edition, Dream and Da Band? I know P. Diddy has a resume but as of late his hit making abilities are becoming suspect. Mario would have had done just as good taking his chance at winning and sticking with Clive.

Tommy Ceez 03-23-05 12:51 PM

P Diddy the hitmaker?...Welcome to 1998!

What's your definition of the word "star"? The only "star" (by MY definition of the word) to emerge from IDOL so far is Clay Aiken. There's no way Mario is going to be that big. But I don't doubt he'll cut a few records and make a few sales.

SexualPudding 03-23-05 01:49 PM

For the person who was asking what movie "Aint Nobody" by Chaka Khan was in, the answer is:

Bringing Down the House-in the scene where Latifah makes Steve Martin dance at the restaurant.

That was the most recent movie, anyway. I believe there was also an "updated" version of the original song either in a movie or on its soundtrack, and for some reason I am wanting to say it was the Beavis and Butthead movie from '95/'96.

Kelly Clarkson isn't a "star"?

Yeah, no kidding. She's got songs at #5 AND #15 on the Billboard Hot 100, while her latest CD is #6 on the album charts. Not to sound like "OMG Kelly" here, but her career is doing as well as Clay's at the very least.

Yeah, I like Kelly and she might not be as popular as Clay but she won't have work a 9 to 5 anytime soon.

Is Clay really that popular? Moreso than Clarkson? I find that hard to believe...

Won't any of the record-buying public resent the fact that Lopez used AI and them to make a name for himself, and then abandoned it to sign with someone else? That's more than being shrewd, that's cutthroat.

Groucho 03-23-05 03:36 PM

DAMN YOU, LOPEZ! lc

Actually, they don't. At least, according to TV Guide's inside scoop on AI from a few months ago. They said they actually use footage from the dress rehearsals during the recap at the end of the show, their quote was something like "Even our editors aren't that fast!"

TheGodfather 03-23-05 03:51 PM

I, TheGodfather, have worked my magic and given the obscenely gorgeous Mikalah another chance. We will keep doing this until she sings a good one.

BTW- I'm thinking Clay Aiken :thmbsdwn: , George Bush :thmbsdwn: and P.Diddy :thmbsdwn: all have the same PR man. You couldn't name me 3 people who've done LESS in the last 5 years than these 3, yet their supporters are like religious zealots. Aiken people get over it: HE LOST. It's over. Like his career. He will NEVER be nearly as good as OMG Kelly, who isn't the greatest herself. Go follow Justin Timberlake around at least he has some talent.

Also, dropping 20 lbs would NOT make Jessica a waif now would it? I'm guessing she's about 5'3", 135-140. I'd like to see her take some off myself. She still wouldn't be as hot as my babygirl Mikalah though.

Vazquez?

WTF was up with that Fro-hawk thing Nadia was doing last night. That was dumber than most of gettinbranded's posts about Fantasia last year. ;)
