American Idol Final 11 - 03/22/05

Bo Bice has been left off the poll.

Who will get the least amount of votes and get kicked out of the competition tomorrow.

LorenzoL 03-22-05 07:42 AM

I voted for Nikko.

Goldberg74 03-22-05 07:56 AM

I'll reserve judgement until after the show... but I think that Mikala or Jessica could be gone if they jack it up again.

Groucho 03-22-05 08:04 AM

I'll wait to vote until I see the performances, but I wish I wish with all my heart that Mikalah will get the boot.

Charlie Goose 03-22-05 08:25 AM

More important than a good performance, Mikalah needs to keep her big mouth shut or she'll be gone this week. The audience is totally annoyed with her, evident by her poor showing last week.

Any info on the genre this week?

Please let Mikalah get voted off so she can pursue her career in porn.

Not really a spoiler from the show, but kinda "kinky" (and the truth).

Spoiler:
Only if she keeps a certain item in her mouth

God yes. Something about her is so sexy. Especially in those low, low cut pants. I know she's like 16 but I'll wait 2 years.
My wife can't figure out why she's my favorite because her voice is a cross between Barbra Streisand and Fran Dresher.

I know many people love Bo and think he is very original but I don't think he is that great. I think he is good but I don't like all the hype and pimping by TPTB. I am ready for the Bo backlash :)

I stand corrected. Bo did not sing last and but he did bore me with his song and the Simon comparing his hair to Paula's was funny!

I really liked most of the performances, partly because I liked most of the songs (well it's good to have a choice of #1 songs).

Anthony - I thought he started ok, hit a few notes off but finished well. I think he is a nice kid with a nice voice and I don't understand Simon's distain for him. I see him at least in the final 4. I like the power ballads he does but the judges apparently likes his more upbeat performances.

Carrie- Never thought she was that strong vocally but she blew me away with Alone. I really enjoyed the song. Very controlled and strong. I have a feeling that Simon, et al had a peek at the vote tallies/breakdowns and she may be the top vote getter.

Scott - I really like this song. I thought he sang well. Came off nice during the intro.

Constantine - I didn't like his rendition of the song. Too much dancing around that I think if he stopped and sang, it would be BLAH. Donny Osmond has nothing to fear from him.

Vonzell: Good singer. Good song. Don't remember much else though.

Nadia: I like her attitude. Definitely not as mechanical or staged as I thought previously. I like the funky mohawk. I enjoyed the performance even though I thought she sounded a bit winded and garbled a few words. I thought she was good tonight.

Bo . ehh . don't get the love. I thought it was ok and bland. I won't be sad to see him leave.

Nikko - I don't like the way he runs the notes. I think it is vibrato but it sounds like he is warbling many of his notes.

Anwar - started off soft. I couldn't hear him over the instruments. Danced around to the song and finished strong. Still, it was meh for me. He reminds me of a 70s disco singer.

Mikalah - I thought she was alright though it was a very similar to the original rendition. She was ok tonight but I think she is definitely the bottom 2-3 again and will be the most likely candidate to go home.

Jessica - I really liked her song. I thought she sang well. She did the squatting thing which was distracting as was her strong resemblence to Kelly Clarkson.

I think whenever the results show will air, Mikalah, Anwar/Scott and Nikko will
be in the last three with Mikalah getting the boot.

We will see. Sometimes the bottom 3 get a sympathy vote the next week and their fans are more mobilized to save them. Mikalah strikes me as one who would have a very passionate fan base while someone like Jessica probably doesn't. It will be interesting. If Mikalah makes the bottom 3 again tonight, her days are numbered. Then again, with another poor performance like last week she might be gone tomorrow night anyway.

On the genre, I'm interested to see if they keep catering to Bo. So far he hasn't had to sing anything but these comfortable rock tunes he sings all the time with his band he loves to talk so much about (actually he loves talking about HIMSELF more than his band). If they keep this "decade" crap going, you will know who they want to win. I'm waiting for "Boy George" week. Then we'll see what Bo's got going on.

EDIT: The theme is "#1 Billboard Hits". Well, it looks like they continue to choose themes Bo can find something to his style. Look for them to keep on pimping him.

Well, it looks like the show won't be live. Apparently it wasn't live last week either. From someone on another board who attended:

Warning: Do not read if you don't want to know the particulars about tonight's show!!

Spoiler:
Like last week, American Idol has been pre-recorded, therefore won't be shown live in America. Here are the spoilers from someone who went to the show last night:

Carrie Underwood: "Alone" by Heart (1987)
(Note: Simon said she is gonna win and sell more records than all the other idols combined.)

Anwar Robinson - "I Feel For You" by Chaka Khan (1984) tentative
(Note: All three judges thought Anwar was ok; Randy complemented him for him ambition in doing Chaka; he was pitchy but saved it at the end with that "one note" as Paula and Randy would say)

Constantine Maroulis - "I Think I Love You" by the Partridge Family (1970)
(note: Surprisingly good; Simon thought it was like watching a poodle with a leather jacket)

Nadia Turner - "Time after Time" by Cyndi Lauper (1984)
(Note: Judges thought this was Nadia's weakest performance yet)

Mikalah Gordon - "Love Will Lead You Back" by Taylor Dayne (1990)
(Note: Judges and audience didn't like this performance)

Jessica Sierra - "Total Eclipse of the Heart" by Bonnie Tyler (1983)
(Note: Judges like Jessica and said she could give Carrie a run for her money)

Nikko Smith - "Incomplete" by Sisqo (2000)
(Note: Judges and crowd loved him)

Anthony Federov - "I Knew You Were Waiting For Me" by George Michael/Aretha Franklin (1987)
(Note: Simon said that Anthony was trying for sexy and it just didn't wok)

Bo Bice - "Time In a Bottle" by Jiim Croce (1973)
(Note: Hair back to normal. All three were kind; Simon said he's the only one who doesn't feel like a contestant)

Vonzell Solomon - "Best of My Love" by The Emotions (1977)
(Note: Simon said that Vonzell will finally be remembered)

Scott Savol - "Against All Odds" by Phil Collins (1984)

conscience 03-22-05 07:09 PM

Wow, Carrie was really good and chose a wise song this week.

GuessWho 03-22-05 07:09 PM

Dear Carrie,

Marry me.

Love,
GuessWho

gettinbranded 03-22-05 07:16 PM

Strong group so far. This is a good year, good group.

Edit:

I wish Bo had rocked a bit harder, but good performance.

Edit 2:

Nikko...good.

Vonzell...good...good.

Entertaining night.

Patman 03-22-05 07:33 PM

Everyone is bringing it tonight, and Simon was right about Scott, thankfully that song didn't go on any longer...

But I think it's because the contestants are singing good solid songs (you don't hit #1 with a mediocre song), so that helps alot.

gettinbranded 03-22-05 07:36 PM

Constantine...not crazy about the song, but good performance.

Edit:

Ladies and Gentlemen, we have a candidate for the worst performance of the night.

Hair-do too. Give Nadia a hand.

SMB-IL 03-22-05 07:39 PM

Strange connection I made with Constantine: his interpretation of "I Think I Love You" sounded to me as sung by Pontius Pilate in Jesus Christ Superstar....

SMB-IL 03-22-05 07:39 PM

Nadia rocked!

GuessWho 03-22-05 07:40 PM

This was Constantine's chance to play something like Bon Jovi's Living on a Prayer, Bad Medicine, Blaze of Glory, I'll be There for You, or You Give Love a Bad Name --all of which were Billboard #1 singles -- and he blew it!

SMB-IL 03-22-05 07:44 PM

Mikalah next: how BAD will it be?? Oh sweet Jesus!

EDIT: Well, now I know who to vote for above!

gettinbranded 03-22-05 07:46 PM

I think Mikalah just threw some gang signs at America!

gettinbranded 03-22-05 07:49 PM

Anwar!

Timber 03-22-05 07:50 PM

Wow Mikalah was bad. That's one of my favorite songs and she doesn't nearly have the voice to do it. Bye Mikalah
