I enjoyed this episode. I haven't been watching from the beginning but have caught up on most of the episodes in the series through the many NCIS marathons USA has had recently and the Tuesday night USA/CBS eps.

I think I've seen most all the episodes that to deal w/ the La Grenouille storyline, including the one where Jenny is in France and meets w/ a guy who's dying and claims her father was there just a few weeks ago. I think I got most of the episode where La Grenouille visits and reveals he knows who Tony is, his car gets bombed, and he reveals who is to Jeanne on youtube.

What exactly happened last time Jenny and Gibbs met with La Grenouille at Jenny's home? I did not catch that episode. It looked like (through flashbacks) Jenny game him the gun and he killed himself, but then at the end the flashback showed him giving it back. Is that what happened and we are to believe either Jenny or Gibbs really did kill him? What is the deal behind Jenny's dad and what really happened to him? And am I correct in saying the guy Kourt (sp?) that seemed to be Grenouille's bodyguard/right-hand man is CIA and was undercover? Or was he the real killer?

What is the feeling on Tony... he really seemed to change and fell in love with Jeanne. Did he tell her it was all a lie for her so she can let go? For him b/c there's something with Ziva? For both of them b/c they would never work b/c their relationship was based on lies?

Thanks to anyone who can clear some things up for me!

We are led to believe Jenny killed him, that why Gibbs said "Long live the Queen" at the end. Throughout the episode, during the flashbacks, they just didn't finish that scene (where Jenny gives him her gun) until the end for that final twist. Gibbs knew she did it, but with their past he covered for her (as she would do for him). Also, how else would she know that Jeanne either 1) wasn't there and 2) didn't kill her father. Yeah, it would be reasonable that she'd believe that DiNozzo didn't kill La Grenouille but how would she know that Jeanne didn't do it?

As for Kort, he's a CIA agent working undercover but he didn't kill La Grenouille, in fact he never said he did, just that it was "sanctioned". IDK, and this is a question I have, but is Kort (and in turn the CIA) now the leader of this arms dealing organization?

NCIS - "In the Zone" - 4/29

I thought it was interesting how, once in Iraq, DiNozzo was 100% all business. No movie references, no goofball antics. He was more like, well, Gibbs.

I was surprised that Nikki survived the mission. Thought she had "red shirt" written all over her.

Spoiler:
Since next week's episode involves the death of "an agent," her days may still be numbered.

Didn't like Ziva's jealousy over Nikki and Tony's sleeping arrangements. She was in the Israeli army and Mossad, for crying out loud. She knows how things work in a war zone.

Sorta can't wait till next week's ep.

Spoiler:
There's been a handful of good reasons to support the idea that it could be any of Ziva, Tony, Jenny, or Ducky that get killed. I think I read that Tony escorts Jenny to somewhere in the ep after next week's, but any appearances after next week's could be much like Kate appeared after she was killed. So I just don't know. And I'm pretty sure I've read that it'll be one of characters with theme song credits. She may die too though

I believe I read that Tony and Ziva escort Jenny to California, so there's 3 of the cast members at risk right there...

So...
Spoiler:
Which of the major cast members gets killed tonight? Gibbs, McGee, Tony, Ziva, Ducky, Abby, or Jenny? I only hope Jenny b/c I'd miss her the least, but unlike some others I don't think she's a bad character in the show and I think Lauren Holly does well in it.

Lauren Holly needs to lay off the face-lifts. Simply awful.

Well, the Director's fate was pretty much set, but I did not see that end coming. Interesting to see what they do with everyone next season.

And BTW, Mike Franks is THE MAN!

Probably one of the best season finales this year. But I don't think this whole new team thing will last long. They'll al be back together within 2 or 3 episodes next year. It's like when Gibbs "left" at the end of last season only to return after one episode.

Especially since the new Director seems to have something to hide, and (I believe) has split the team up because together, they would have the ability to sniff out his dirty laundry.

^ Well, I think he split them up because he wants to have a team loyal to him, not Gibbs.

Yep, every time Leon turned around, the team was following Gibbs' orders and not his.

Agree about the "new" team and splitting up the current team not working. The characters make this show. Bringing in a new "team" sorta worked with House, but wouldn't fly on NCIS. I didn't so much think that the new director Vance had something to hide as much as I thought he didn't really trust the current team (rightfully so, they neglected to tell him about Franks and protecting Gibbs). However, Gibbs did tell Tony to oversee Vance's investigation, so I dunno.

To be clear:

1.) we learned that Jenny was the one that killed La Grenouille, correct?

2.) Why did it seem like the package that Fornell sent Gibbs it contained both La Grenouilles files AND the photos Jenny took? Or did I remember that scene incorrectly?

3.) Did they say what disease Jenny had? If so, in this ep or a previous one, I must have missed it.

4.) What WAS the "insurance"? Was it actually cash, or was it something else? And why did they let Franks leave with it?

Thanks

1. Yes, because of the marks on the shell

2. ?

3. They never said what she has - just Ducky making comments of how bad it would be for her.

4. I think he had proof that Jenny did not kill her woman.

Do you honestly think they're not NOT going to bring back the cast? This isn't a "House" thing here.

I wonder if Rocky Carroll will be a regular as the new NCIS director next year. However, if they do bring him back, I think it's possible he could be only a recurring character since Alan Dale was only a guest star as the NCIS director in the 1st couple of seasons.

I'm thinking that when Gibbs protests that the director will tell him that they can stay together & have one more chance but he(the director) is in charge & there will be no second chance. The next time the team will be split up.

I'm really interested to see where they go w/ this.

I'm wondering what
Spoiler:
the link/reason is behind Vance's decision to disband the team and how it involves a new case. In the finale Vance said something to the effect of "more agents will die". Who knows what Vance thinks/knows about the current team.

I hope it doesn't become like House, with the original characters scatterred and a new "team" fighting for screen time. It's pretty obvious this is a character-driven show and to permanently break that up would be one bonehead of a move.

It took them less than one episode to get Gibbs back from Mexico at the start of Season 4. Since no recasting and no new cast members have been announced, it's safe to say that the original cast will back at the Navy Yard by week 2.

If you remember from the last episode of last season..

Spoiler:
immediately upon becoming the new Director, Vance opened his own personnel file, took out a page, and shredded it

And I agree... I hope the team is back by the end of this episode. Don't drag it out, it would be horrible for the show if they tried to go the 'House' route.

Well my first impression on the cast isn't so great. They are trying too hard to be the old team. Jonathan LaPaglia seems a bit stiff. He would be better off acting more natural rather then trying to play Tony. The McGee replacement is annoying. And I never did like Agent Lee. Good thing it appears they won't be around very long. Assuming they don't drag this plot out over the entire season.
