That really distracted me too. Maybe somewhere in Miami looks like the edge of the incline, but it took me right out of it. How much of this do they actually shoot in Miami? Just exteriors and pickups like West Wing in D.C., or what?

Looks like it. They did shoot some exteriors around town (the McArthur Causeway, the "Key West" scene (actually Coconut Grove), the parking lot scenes (you can see The Miami Herald building in the background), and a little bit on Ocean Drive. But man, for some reason that Santa Monica background really cheesed my groin.

As far as the show: I liked it, but it didn't blow my socks off. However, the cast was extremely solid and as it was only the first episode, I'll stick around for a few more.

Forster's hair plugs always look strange to me.

Thought it was a good debut, give it some time and it might become a great show.

I liked it as well, as I did with the pilot. Although she is not too bad to look at, her father is the best part of the show, as far as I am concerned.

Michael Keaton isn't exactly busy at the moment, so maybe...

Robert Forster definitely stole the show, I would look for him to get an Emmy nom within the next two years if the show survives.

Well most of you pretty much echoed my feelings. The pacing was definitely slow. I found myself looking at the clock a few times, which is never a good sign. However, there was a certain something there -- perhaps it was style, perhaps the actors, perhaps just a hope based on the creators -- that makes me want to give it a chance. I'll definitely check it out again, but as of this moment, it seems a bit overrated by the critics. Hopefull I'll find my opinion changed over the coming weeks.

I'm thinking they'd go for someone who is an established TV face... David Duchovny, Robert Patrick, Chris Noth... maybe Mark Harmon if his show doesn't survive...

Of course, since Harmon is George Clooney 10 years earlier, he can be her love interest during the "Out Of Sight" years.

Ditto that. I was not all that impressed with the pilot, but will give it a chance because it does have the market cornered in terms of style. Plus, Robert Forster stole every scene he was in, so I'll look forward to watching him as he's always good.

Karen Sisco 10/8

Had to post during the break on how awesome this episode is!

LOVE the second Elmore Leonard reference in 2 episodes--When DeVito's bodyguard ("Gas man" from Dumb and Dumber) said one of the strippers was Momo's girlfriend. Momo was a character in "Get Shorty"

This show has its shiznit together.

From the previews during the week, I thought tonight's ep might be a let-down, but I have to admit - it's quite good and goofy in a few parts.

I absolutely love Carla Gugino - she is perfect for this role.

So the alumni from "24" show up as the dumbest pair of brothers on this side of the Mississippi in a long while.

While, the episode was fun and light, I get the idea that Karen seems either too confident, or too blase about tracking down criminals, maybe I just feel she doesn't give them the respect they deserve.

I've really liked both of the episodes we've seen so far. A nice blend of drama and comedy. The vibe is very Leonardesque and very reminiscent of The Rockford Files, two big pluses from my seat.

(I loved the stripper in the background. Not exactly enthusiastic during the afternoon show )

This show got heavy brain points the first week when Karen showed up with a grocery bag, NOT containing those cliches beloved of dull-witted prop masters: a protruding bagette and/or green leafy carrot tops.

Great episode, a lot better than last week. I imagine Danny DeVito will return...he is an executive producer for the show. (The real question...when will he do "The Simpsons" again?)

I'm quite impressed with the show, although the promos are horrid. At they aren't spoiler-packed.

This show is tight. Last night's ep felt a little more Leonard-esque.

And Carla Gugino's Karen leaves Ms. Lopez in the dust.

Last night's episode was worlds better than last week's, and last week's was pretty good IMO.

I totally agree with Carla Gugino leaving J-Lo in the dust; Carla totally owns that character and I am now wishing that they could find a way to go back and edit her into all of the shots with Lopez in the movie.
The teaser for next week doesn't look too great, but this show is good at not giving away too much so far and delivering the goods, hopefull it stays that way!

What's funny is that I loved Jennifer Lopez as Karen Sisco, especially considering that it's her only good role to date, but Carla Gugino is definitely proving that she is the superior person for the role.

Good Call, F.M.
