I saw the pilot; wasn't too interesting to me. I liked the Miss Match pilot better (w/ Alicia Silverstone).

I have had a chance to see all the pilots to new ABC shows when they come down on closed circuit (I guess to show to local sponsors?) But I never bother watching them. I am busy enough with other stuff at work.

The pilot was okay, Its definitely no Maximum Bob but it shows promise.

Man did I love that show. I wish they would put it out on dvd(hint, hint). Anyway, I'm an Elmore Leonard fan so I'll definitely check out Karen Sisco. Plus, it doesn't hurt that Carla Gugino is in it. If the show stinks, at least I can turn down the volume.

I think I will have to watch this one. There have been many comparison in this thread to Alias, which I like and is one of the only network shows I watch (also 24, The Simpsons, That 70s Show). The only new show I caught thus far was Miss Match which was reasonably good, so good luck to Karen Sisco...

is this a spinoff of her character in out of sight? Never saw that one, but I am looking forward to this one.

That's pure speculation. I mean in regards to the fight.

Besides Karen dating a charming guy, who just happens to be a bank robber, I really liked the show. I liked the cast - Carla Gugino (of course), Robert Forster was perfect as her dad, and Bill Duke was good as her boss, too. They had good chemistry, particularly for a pilot.

I shall watch this show until they take it off of the air, but they don't need to have any more boyfriends (that robbed banks at one time or another) on the show again - unless Clooney does a guest spot.

I know it was only the first episode but I don't see what all the hype is about or what every magazine was raving about.

The first half was pretty boring and the second half was a little better. The only thing I liked, besides Carla, was that she shot him instead of letting him sail away.

I wonder if Acevada is going to have that horrible mustache when The Shield comes back in January

I agree w/ you on Sunday nights. That would be much better than having this show go up against L & O on Wednesday nights at 10/9 Central. I think that is its expected time slot and I am afraid that is going to kill this shows chances.
Not necessarily. Sometimes two shows can be huge hits at the same time slot (Home Improvement and Frasier; ER and Without A Trace). Karen Sisco won't come near L&O's ratings, but doesn't need to in order to be successful.

Bear in mind that the pilot is based on an Elmore Leonard short story that takes place before "Out of Sight." In fact, the events of this episode are mentioned in Out of Sight: Karen's relationship with Carl Wilkens and how she "shot him when the time came."

It was great to see Benito Martinez as "The Smarmy FBI Guy."

I thought it was excellent. Seeing Carla Gugino as Karen Sisco made me forget all about J.Lo, and Robert Forster was excellent--just as good as Dennis Farina was in Out of Sight. I loved the guest stars--Patrick Dempsey was wonderful, and Benito Martinez was hilarious! I loved seeing him play a real creep of an FBI agent.

From what I've read, the episode that was on last night was NOT the pilot--it was the second episode, and the pilot will be broadcast as the third episode.

A good start, though I thought the pacing was a little slow at times. I look forward to more of this show. And amen to watching this show in HD.

Well, if that's the case then I feel much, much better about the plot since I never read the short that the credit at the beginning of the ep. It's been about a year since I last read Out of Sight, so I can't remember the specific reference to Carl Wilkins.

Fabulous episode. Looked amazing in HD too.

I will watch every episode of this show until ABC cancels it, which will probably be soon given that it is actually pretty good and ABC just can't keep decent shows on their network.

yeah, no kidding.

I thought the pilot last night was ok. Nothing to write home about. I'll watch it for a few more weeks to give it a chance - that is unless it gets Maximum Bob syndrome.

I was underwhelmed. Nothing was awful, nothing was great, though I think there's some interesting casting. Since the episode storyline was so similar to the movie OUT OF SIGHT (I have read neither the book nor "Karen Makes Out"), it just paled. The clever dialogue wasn't as clever, the locale less distinct, the usual stuff that drops when a feature becomes a tv series (though I don't expect everything to be MASH or Buffy when that happens).

There's enough other stuff on I like better or think has more potential.
