LOL I thought you were supposed to do that. You said you were done a couple of days ago and yet you are still here pumping your anti-sports angle.

In this latest episode, one ridiculous moment was when David Avella claimed Obama was name-calling in his inauguration speech when he said right-wing Republicans. Claiming the term "right-wing" was name-calling was so ridiculous that it was tough to take the guy seriously after he said that.

I wonder if the producers for CNN tell her to ramp up her rhetoric for their show, conversely, she might feel she has to tone it down for Maher.

the only thing Bill Maher can be accused of being a hypocrite for is when he said he's against people owning guns, yet he owns guns. Other than that, I saw nothing wrong with anything else he said.

Wouldn't surprise me for most of these talking heads on TV these days.

I don't remember him saying he was against people having guns. I do remember him wondering why people care more about gun rights than the rights we've lost over the last decade.

Agreed. My wife and I both looked at each other flabbergasted.

I don't see the conflict. He actually covered it. He doesn't think society should have guns, but since a large contingent do, he feels the need.

That's actually a pretty common way of thinking. It's like politicians who think certain forms of campaign finance shouldn't be allowed, but participate in it because they'd be committing political/career suicide if they didn't. That's why politicians need campaign finance reform -- to force everyone to compete on a "better" playing field. Individuals voluntarily doing it mostly doesn't work.

Re: Real Time With Bill Maher, Season 11 (2013)

I enjoyed last night's episode. Bill's final word was spot on this week but I think he's delusional if he doesn't think liberals part with their money in the same way as conservatives. They may not buy survival essentials but they do buy books and watch films. They spend their money on those who preach to their line of thinking just like republicans do. There are people who subscribe to HBO so they can watch Bill's show. How is that any different than someone subscribing to Glenn Beck's show?

There's no debating that. But the point still stands that people on both sides spend their money.

That's a false equivalence. Just because some on the other side do it, doesn't mean that it's anywhere near the extent it is on the other side.

If a Liberal Media Empire is such a good financial idea, I think Air America would have made more money.

I have noticed that certain people seem to become addicted to conservative politics. They sort of exist in this state where they live and breathe conservatism.

Frankly, this article accurately describes a lot of people I know.

Didn't really care for the panel this week. I really wish Mayor Booker would have given some of the other panelists a chance to get a word in edge-wise. The guy just never seemed to shut the fuck up! Otoh, it didn't seem like the others had a lot to say, contribute or add any contrast to what was being advocated.

^ Yea, Booker did talk too much. The blonde woman only said one or two things, and the cameraman was mostly interested in Eva Longoria's reactions to everything.

I liked the discussion about guns. Both sides had merit in their arguments.

Agreed.

I was sort of surprised that Longoria could form coherent sentences.

Re: Real Time With Bill Maher, Season 11 (2013)

I thought the panel got a whole lot better when Sam Harris joined. He brought a rational viewpoint that wasn't typical about guns in America. And I thought the back and forth between him and Booker was fairly heated but still respectful.

It made me think Sam Harris should have his own show.
