No wonder! I started watching around 8 and kept saying to myself, "I'll leave as soon as this show is over." I almost didn't make it for the fireworks

I stopped watching at about 11:30, then forgot to turn it back on. So, I started watching the west coast feed at about 3am heh.

Sex and the City (ep 1/6) [spoilers]

I really liked this episode. It's been a while, so it took me a few minutes to recall where everyone left off. I hope that James Remar becomes a regular on the show, he is so cool. (and after tonight's episode, it looks like he might be here for a while). Opinions?

Remar fits this show well I kind of knew where they were going with this when he was introduced. He and Catrall have great chemistry. Samantha was the strongest part of this episode they are finally letting her character develop (slowly but surely). As for the rest it seemed forced they immediately have Miranda mention her pregnancy so we don't forget. Also the male characters seemed to act out of character John Corbett was being completely unreasonable and Kyle McLachlan's character would not have bought that carboard baby (that was really unecessary in my opinion)

Still a very watchable show but the writing seems to be slipping (aside from Samantha)

I don't agree at all that the show is slipping. I felt it slipped back when it was more about sex jokes than insightful romance. All of this season (well, part 1 at least) has been beautifully done, and I really enjoyed tonight's episode. I like that they've slowly developed Samanatha through this season. Miranda is hit or miss for me, and it's not because she's skankass ugly. Sometimes I really care about her character and other times, she's wasted air time. Anyway, I'm thrilled to have this back on, even if only for 6 episodes. I think it's probably the most insightful and genuine show on television, and I certainly missed it.

I actually liked this episode. Usually the entire series is hit or miss with me, but the argument Carrie and Aiden were having about each others' 'sh*t' was hilarious. Reminded me of an old George Carlin bit.

I always thought Kyle MacLachlan's character was pretty boring (possibly how they intended him to be) but tonight he actually seemed like he had a pulse. (I thought the cardboard baby was funny, btw.)

If the rest of the season is as good as this epidsode I'll have to continue watching.

I thought the entire episode was "built" around the Aidan/Carrie huge argument scene - which was done pretty well and realistically, but threw the rest of the stories off. Miranda and Charlotte's storylines were totally weak and forced by comparison. Samantha's was good and a logical progression from where she'd been left after the previous epsiode (although we go from her having ONE relationship - James and his tiny p*nis - for the entire series and now she's aiming for TWO in one season!).

The weakness in this epsiode could have been easily overcome with a Stanford storyline! Why are they avoiding using that character this season? Has he been in any episodes except the "runway roadkill" one? A truly comic storyline about the invasion of the single lifestyle from his perspective would have helped to curb the female "bitchiness" aspect this one-sided epsiode began to take. I better see some serious Willie Garson action before this season ends - Stanford Blatch is too fun to fade away!

With each passing week, Carrie and Charlotte become more and more annoying.

Actually Charlotte's always been that annoying. She is - by far -the show's "Ringo" - if you know what I mean. Even if she is the only one teenage horndogs would admit to having an attraction for, her character is unbelievably repulsive.

Opening title sequence changed

Did anyone else notice that HBO altered the opening title sequence? The background shot behind the series' title in the opening no longer contains the NYC skyline with the World Trade Center towers.

I have heard there will be a reference in an upcoming episode - whether ironically intended or not - made by Carrie while shaking a snowglobe containing the former landmarks.

I guess this means we can also expect some small alterations to The Sopranos opening sequence as well.

I thought it was an excellent episode, I was actually very happy for Samantha at the end of it, for me, Carrie and Miranda have been my least favourite characters, Samantha and Charlotte I love.

The cardboard baby was such a bad idea from Trey, what was he thinking with. I did love the huge argument when the girls were all around at Charlotte's for dinner.

And how about Richard's (Dick's) Apartment Crikey that is fantastic.

All in all a welcome return to the tv schedule.

Am I the only one that thought Carrie and what's-his-name's argument seemed totally fake? I thought they were rehearsing for their school play. It seemed out of character for what's-his-name (Aidan?) to get so bent out of shape.

As someone who has been there, done that with having someone move in to your place and then suddenly having to deal with it and readjust your whole life (including how you spend free time, down time, quiet time, etc.) I LOVED this episode. It was so dead on accurate it was scary. Whoever thinks that laid back sweet mellow guys don't/can't wig out when moving in with a girl never walked a mile in my shoes. There are a million tiny adjustments to your schedule, habits, and even how you view yourself that happen when you move in together (whether getting married or just moving in, and sometimes even with a roommate, especially if that person was already a friend that you spent time with). Add to that all the expectations and insecurities that people have, and you get a difficult time! And this is tenfold if you've lived your whole adult life alone, like Carrie has. No matter how much time you spend at each other's places while dating, it's a whole different experience when you don't have a place of your own. You're NEVER (for all intents and purposes) truly alone again. This can be extremely difficult to adjust to, especially to independent people who are set in their ways.

Trust me when I say that this episode was as true to life as it comes (except for the fact that they took a 1-6 month adjustment time and fit it all into one episode)- and it was fantastic from start to finish. I'm thrilled this show is back on and can't wait for the next one.

I told my husband this morning that I am like Carrie when she gets home, except I'm like that in the mornings.

He usually gets up before I do, and when I drag myself out of bed, I don't like to speak for at least an hour.

I told him I'm glad he isn't like Aidan as soon as I wake up, asking me questions or trying to talk to me. "What'd you do? Who'd you see?"

That would drive me crazy.

ROFLMAO! I'm just like Jadzia with this issue - when I wake up I'm NOT happy - I need no one to speak to me until I'm woken up - the signal is that I'll start talking, but it's usually still not very talkative. "Good morning" is about it. But I'm also like Carrie - when I come home from work I need quiet time also. So it's good that he usually doesn't come home for another hour or two.

I agree that people have problems adjusting when they move in together, but this episode was awful IMO. The writing that is. And I'm a HUGE fan of this show. The bickering was endless. Not only between Carrie and Aidan, but Charlotte and Trey. I don't mind Charlotte. I liked her before she married Trey. But her character seems useless now. Running around decorating rooms, planning lunches and trying to get pregnant. Not interesting. And neither is the character of Trey. Get rid of him! And while their at it, get rid of that whining Steve too. The women are so good on this show. The men (besides Big) have not been.

I enjoyed this episode. The gay nightclub experience, I could live without, but other than that I was impressed. It will be interesting to see how Samantha handles her feelings with her boss. The whole casual Friday bit was pretty funny I thought.

I missed part of it because I was at my moms house, but
Spoiler:
why did Carrie get mad and go home when she went to the gay club that required the key?

Because her "date" wasn't really her date, and he was paying attention to other things. He wasn't being mean, but she slowly realized that she had something much better waiting at home than what she was doing there.

Yet another great episode. I'm still convinced that this is the best 30 minute show on television.

I agree das! Thank God Charlotte and Trey (sp?) are splitting up. Again. Let's hope it sticks this time. I'm SO tired of Trey and that storyline. It brings the show to a screaching halt for me.

Not as good as last weeks episode, but still a good piece if television.

I also hope that is the last of Trey, we need a bit more of Charlotte getting out in the world, but I feel bad for her, she gave up her career to have a baby, and now she is not going to have one, unless she becomes Miranda's babys nanny.

That might work. On second thoughts she would never give up the baby, if she had it grow up with her.

the aidan/carrie storyline was okay I guess, but really at the end of the day she came to teh realisation that what she wanted was there all along.

The whole gay angle to the story was interesting to say the least. I am not sure if women dig gay porn as much as they, well samantha at least appeared to be enjoying it. but I wouldn't know.

The whole gay club thing, I have not been to one, but through HBO and Six Feet Under and now Sex and the City, I think I understand what goes on.

the gay rules were also interesting. I won't list them..
I would give the episode 3/5
