"Sex and the City": Short season !??

Can someone refresh my memory? When did this current season of "Sex and the City" start? I'm pretty sure it wasn't longer than 8 weeks ago. If that's true, why is next week the "Summer Finale"? And what exactly does that mean? Summer Finale. Isn't usually Season Finale. I recall the show ending sometime in
September last year. Late September even. Last year's season seemed to go on for several months. Am I losing my mind? Or will it be back in the Fall with more new episodes. I'm confused.

they may be adjusting the schedule for the sopranos which starts next week. plus six feet under has a couple of weeks left in its season so maybe they are just taking a little break with it.

No, Daytripper, you are not losing your mind. It was a shortened season to accomidate the "actor's strike" that never happened. There will be a "mini-season" of the final four episodes in January. It's a bit disappointing, but that's something to look forward to.

I know I don't mind. I'm so far behind, I'm still in the second season. I have to rely on DVDs because I don't have HBO, and I'm still not done with the second season, and I sure hope the third season comes out on DVD soon.

TV Guide had a little snippet this coming week for the Summer Ender. They said there will be 6 more episodes starting in January. They also said this episode is well set-up as a cliffhanger of sorts for you to hang on to until January. I love HBO, but it seems like there might be a quiet time upcoming even though Sopranos will re-run all 3 seasons in widescreen starting this month.

I think they split the season up last year as well.

Does it really matter at this point? I have been - and will continue to be (for as long as I can hold out) - a supporter of "Sex & the City." Up until very recently, the show had some of the best snappy - but realistic - dialogue of anything in prime time.

But the fact that the writers have fallen back on the worst possible crutch for an aging television program is not comforting. And, of course, I'm talking about all the tedious marriage / baby storylines clogging up what used to be an effervescent, light-hearted comedy about four independent single women in their 30's dating and (egads!) having sex.

A BABY? A BABY!!!? Why do I have visions of that littlest Cosby running around in my head? Isn't the introduction of "Scrappy Doo" always the signal that the writers have bankrupt all their "good" ideas?

Mark my words: this is where "Sex & the City" jumps the shark.

This sucks. The season finale is on this Sunday. At least we have something to look forward to in January.

No Red Dog, this is the first time HBO has split up a season of "Sex and the City". I've been watching the show since day one. Just couldn't remember the start date this year.

Sex and the City info

I think I may have some new news for once-sorry if its already known. As is policy with HBO they have a planned time schedule for ending this show-that way it ends strong, etc.

Aside form the 6 "bonus" episodes starting in January there will be two more "full" seasons of thirteen episodes each.

Yup-29 more new episodes and then its all done.

This is from a very reliable source. Its a fact.

It's pretty lame how they're promoting those "bonus" episodes (which should have already aired) as a "bonus season" ... whatever. I can't wait for its return, though. Seeing the repeats of last season reminds me why this is the best comedy show on television. Like SportsNight, this show has the total package. Any idea when these two new seasons will air?

Hopefully very soon after this season ends. My fiancee got HBO installed without asking me if we could afford that plus all the other crap she buys. Then of course I started watching Band of Brothers and I didn't mind that she ordered it then

Slated for late 2002 and then 2003 at this time-this may change though.

While I am thrilled to hear there will be at least 26 more episodes of sex and the city after the 6 ep bonus season - I'm totally disappointed that those will signal the end of one of my most favorite shows. I did read that right, didn't I? After the 2002 and 2003 seasons, this show will end? This sucks.

It will definitely end-HBO has a set time to end shows even if they're doing great. They don't want any shark jumping....

Sex and the City 4th Season Marathon Tonight!

HBO is rerunning all 12 episodes tonight, which is great for those of us (like me!)
who managed to miss most, if not all, of the episodes the first time they were on.
Just in time to get caught up before the "bonus season" starts next week!

It's starting at 9 PM here, but check your local listings.

Yes I will be watching too since I did miss some of the episodes. And, I know what you mean --- "bonus season" YEAH RIGHT! Why wouldn't we get those eps?
