I don't think he's lying about the girlfriend, I think this is how the writers plan to stretch out their courtship.

It seems like they have a lot in common with their writing etc. It would be cool if the two of them started collaborating on a book or article together. And as they spent more time together he would realize that she could be "the one". He has probably been with his girlfriend awhile and the relationship is comfortable, but stagnant. He has probably been resisting marrying his girlfriend because he knows deep down she is not "the one". He'll probably be faced with a choice of giving up his long-term comfortable relationship in order to pursue something with Carrie.

I know plenty of people who have been through similar situations (myself included) so I think that would be an interesting storyline.

I kind of wondered that myself....but anyways...I hope Ron Livingston stays on...I'm a big fan.

Sex and the City 8/25/02

Spoilers below:

Hmmm...sort of an uneven episode, but with some of the usual gags that made SatC fun in the beginning.

Loved Samantha's "I'm Mary F-in' Poppins" line. I kept asking myself, why doesn't Miranda pick up her baby when it was crying all the time. Nice use of the "neck massager". I wonder how much The Sharper Image paid for that ad in the episode.

When Carrie gets in that self-absorbed state, she really is a pill. "The face" didn't really hit the funny bone for me like a lot of other issues in the past. Maybe it's because it was born from Carrie's and Aidan's break-up.

So the writers finally find a way for Charlotte to keep her apartment. Marrying and divorcing well has its benefits, I suppose.

The

Heather Graham
cameo was just out of the blue, too bad they didn't give her that much to do.

Loved it as usual. One of the things I love about the show (that many others seem to dislike) is that they've let these women get old. Carrie sometimes sluts it up a bit trying to dress "young" (failing miserably, of course). She's also become more self-involved, and her friends are calling her on it. There's always growth to the characters, and sometimes the stops along the way aren't too pretty.

Great to see Nadia Dajani again (I miss Amanda's A'Muffins). Loved those women in The Sharper Image. The look on that one lady's face was priceless.

This show is at its best when it's about accepting things that we're so reluctant to admit, and I think this season's doing a great job with that theme.

Using the "neck massager" on the baby was brilliant.

I cringe when I saw Carrie in those outfits she was wearing, they didn't quite conceal her burgeoning pregnancy all that well.

Geez, give the girl a break. What did you want, from the neck up shots only? Or her walking around all the time carrying one of those artist portfolio briefcases covering her from the boobs down? There's not a whole lot they can do without it being obvious they are blocking her growing stomach. I think the outfits were fine. They didn't distract me.

I agree with Patman, trying to cover it up is kind of lame and obvious. Frankly showing her from the neck up is better than the weird tricks they've employyed in an attempt to hide the fact she cant strut but waddel.. I think part of my disapointment is that pre season they had an interview show where they said they'd address her pregnancy and well they haven't...

Looking forward to the next two episodes espescially with

Once again I am in complete agreement, das. This episode was my favorite of the season so far - I loved how funny it was. The rest of the season so far has been touching and moving and poignant and great, but not funny - at least for me. The charm came back in this one while retaining that sense of mid-30's women needing to deal with issues they've never had to deal with before - and aging is one of them.

I'm can't believe I'm actually reading this much less defending it. First of all, what is so lame about the producers trying to cover up her pregnancy? SJP is hardly the first actress in history to continue working while being pregnant. It's done all the time. And the same exact way. Actually, other shows have done it more obvious than "SATC". Second, they never EVER said her character would be pregnant on the show. They actually stopped production when they found out she was to determine the schedule. As in, when to stop. They said from the get go one character with a baby was enough. And third. Waddle? The girl can't be more than 12-14 weeks pregnant on the episodes we've seen so far. And I think even that is an overestimate. There's no "waddling" go on there. She ain't exactly about to break her water. For crying out loud, she's a stick to begin with. But she's now pregnant and she can't exactly continue to wear thongs and bra all the time. Last, Carrie says to her friend on the coming attraction "I'm getting LAID", not married. And I can't remember where I just read this, but SJP said that when the show ends in two more seasons, her character would be the ONLY one not ending up with a man. The article said the others would. SJP said she doesn't want to send a message that you need a husband to feel complete. Or something along those lines.

Samantha is so brazen that she rocks, she went straight to the sharper image guy and told him what she thought the neck massager was, and when he disagreed, she insisted.

Most women would back down, but she has big balls, and I love it.

I am so glad trey looked after Charlotte, because after what she went through she deserved it, the woman was desolate with the baby thing. And bunny is a nasty old woman, Carter's gamma in ER is a much cooler wealthy old lady.

Great show, I love it, and actually got my wife to start watching this season with me, and she is enjoying it.

I thought the Sharper Image thing was hillarious too but its hard to sympathize with Carrie about what everyone is possibly thinking about her and her " past men" when she treated Aidan like crap.

How does she expect Aidan and others to feel about her behavior anyway?

Also, give Charlotte something to do!

I think you're forgetting the final reason for them breaking up. Carrie was being smothered by Aidan's trying to not distrust her.

The whole "Hey Joe, whaddya know? What'd ya see, where'd you go?" was only a small part of his borderline psychotic distrust. He bought her apartment, PROPOSED and then was rushing to get married because that was what HE thought would be the only way he could be sure that Big was out of the picture.

Ultimately, they're reuniting was doomed with Aidan thinking this way. BOTH would have been getting married for the wrong reasons... and to the detriment of both of their wellbeings.

The most I will conceed is that they both mistreated each other psychologically, but Carrie breaking up with him was the only healthy, sane thing to do.

The first time Carrie & Aidan broke up was definitely her fault (cheating, duh!).

But I had to side with her in round 2. I mean, he wanted to marry her so bad and when she wanted to just take it slower he wants to break up?

I never understood that, just like I never understood women who give their men the marriage ultimatum. So let me get this straight--you love this person so much you want to spend your life with them, but if they don't want to get married right away you can just walk away from them forever?

Weird. Seems like it's puting the marriage before the person.

That's what I mean though... Aidan needed to marry Carrie in order for him to be able to TRUST her again - hence the rush. Wrong, wrong, WRONG!

I absolutely agree. If he loved Carrie enough to want to marry her, then he would want to still live together, date, whatever.

But to totally want to break it off is just stupid. It's not like they were dating for 10 years or something, either. They were only together--what ? a year at most?

It was like he wanted to marry her just to pin her down so she couldn't leave which is dumb because there is also this thing called divorce.

Sex and the City 9/8/02

I haven't liked this season, but I loved tonight's finale. What is it with the HBO series lately? In the most recent seasons of Oz, Six Feet Under and Sex and the City, the only episodes that have been really great were the finales. At least Curb Your Enthusiasm was great all season long last year. I hope they don't follow the other HBO shows' trend this season.

Hmm... I admit that I've only seen 2 episodes from this season (the good opener and this one), but I didn't find this one good at all. Aside from a few decent lines, there wasn't much to enjoy. I've seen a lot from other seasons, and overall, this was one of the worst I've ever seen.

Well, in addition to being the funniest one this season, I also really enjoyed the character/relationship development. I guess the show has been getting a little stale for me the last 2 half-seasons. It seems like the show wants to grow up and be a little more dramatic, but I think the writers are scared to be too serious. I know the show's a comedy, but I feel like they're running out of good comedic bits for these characters. I would like this show much more if they didn't try to wrap up every storyline in under 30 minutes and the storylines in this episode seem to be unresolved. I guess I like my comedy completely outrageous like South Park/Adult Swim or more like a dramedy like Gilmore Girls/David E. Kelly.

Sam had all of the good lines. I was cringing with the Zsa Zsa Zsu puns...Zsa Zsa Boo!

For a season ender, it was okay. Perhaps externalizing the 4 gals with the wedding of Bobby and Bitsy wasn't the best way to wrap up the season. Charlotte's new beau cracks me up (the guy cracked me up in "It's like, you know" as well). I guess we'll get a season of Charlotte's attempt to convert to Judiasm next season. Miranda will probably push Steve away, poor guy, being sent so many mixed signals from Miranda. Sam will be the one that ends up alone in the long run. Carrie and Berger - they seems to have that chemistry thang going, we'll see.

my favorite episode of the season as well. I hope the writing improves next season or I don't know if I'll be tuning in with such regularity.

I really like Charlottes new boyfriend as well as Ron being on the show. I hope he's in a lot of the new episodes. Its interesting that both Carrie and Charlotte (not to mention maybe Maranda) are all with everyman kind of guys.

Makes the show a bit more believable that they'd all be with articulate and moderately successful men and not the Big or Richard types...

I very much enjoyed the depth of this episode. I didn't think it was as humorous as it was moving in parts. This season has been more about growth and transition for the four women, and I'm interested to see where they take them now next season.
