Buffy on FX

True story: I missed last night's Buffy on FX, and as soon as I read that FC was replaying last night's episode at 4 p.m., I took off work early just to catch it this afternoon!
I can see why there are so many Buffy fans, SMG was quite a cutie in the early days, with just a bit a chubby in her cheeks (nowadays she's a bit too thin), and just looks adorable in her high school outfit.
I was very surprised to see that Angel, Cordelia, and Darla all showed up in this 1st episode. I thought Cordelia was another "Heather" with the way she spoke. Angel reminded me of Craig Scheffer (bad guy in Some Kind of Wonderful). I see that Willow hasn't changed much in all these years.
Does Jessie (now Gabe on 6 Feet Under) survive his bite from Darla? It's weird to see Giles with very little grey hair. Even Buffy's mom looks a bit strange/dated, but she was good casting to be her mom, they do look alike.
I only watched last season's Buffy reruns (all the way until her "death" in the season cliff-hanger), so I look forward to watching it from the beginning on FX. I even broke out my 3rd VCR to do the taping of the 7pm shows on FX.
Now I am beginning to understand Buffy-Mania.

I agree 100% with what you said about the Emmy's. Only spot where I disagree, Gillian Anderson very much deserved the Best Actress Emmy for Momento Mori. She was fantastic in it and as a result, it's the only show S/F related that has broken through to not just be nominated at that level, but to win.
Patman - Welcome to the Buffy-verse. About time you got here.

By the way, even for those who by into the idea that the X-Files is done (and I'm think for such a great show for so many years it should be given one more year to get back on track), Gillian Anderson is/was deserving of an Emmy every year. SMG will probably never win one (unfortunately) but she definately deserves the nomination.
I agree the Emmys are lame but I defend them only because just getting nominations is great for the show and the actors and I know that they all want it. But aside from the obvious snubs to SMG and the excellent supporting cast, I STILL can't think of ANY drama show in the same league as Buffy aside from the Sopranos. Can anyone think of shows that are better (quality) than these two? So the snub for the show is totally inexcusable. Genre or whatever this show deserves the nominations.
Ohhh...and does everyone know already that Buffy is going to come back, at first, as a robot at the beginning of this season? Pretty cool...and they are doing a musical to air in November!

Sarah Gellar has baby fat! It is so funny watching the first season all over again. I completely forgot about Harmony(she was in the computer room with Cordelia). I think that the 2nd season is when the show really starts to take off.

. The X-Files isn't "pop hoopla" but liking it was. It more than deserved all the acclaim it got; I just think its acceptance by the Emmys was more "vogue" than it was appreciation of a genre show. It was the Sopranos of its day. It was "cool" to like the X-Files. Consequently, the voters didn't watch it with the blind eye they watch other genre shows and were able to see how incredible it really was. If they'd show that kind of judgment across the board, I imagne there'd be much more parity.das

JaseXF3, I'm going to try very hard not to get angry here ... but if you ever spoil another show for me again, we're going to have serious problems. I took so much care to avoid spoilers, and for someone to give it away less than a week before it airs is more annoying than you can possibly imagine. Why people are arrogant enough to think that ... nevermind ... I'm getting angry. I'll stop typing now. Suffice to say, I'm really pissed ...

das - easy now. He, she... uh, which are you Jase? ... just got carried away by the moment. I take most spoilers with a grain of salt.
Okay so we 100% agree on the X-Files and Emmy's. So, when do we run for office?

Spoilers??? I didn't report any facts...I simply wrote a few things I read in TV guide and Entertainment Weekly that the actors and producers shared.
I'm guessing they wanted the fans to know these things and to give us a few things to get us talking about. I'm sorry if that was considered insensitive or a spoiler.
But I haven't seen it, so I don't know anything to be fact. When SMG was asked if the "real" Buffy would be back, she replied, "I don't know for sure." So I'm guessing this is the kind of info/spoiler they didn't want to let slip out.
If was cool enough to know any of these people or know something from the inside, I'm sorry, but I'd be on the set now. Not here.

I am one who usually doesn't want to know spoilers at all - this summer I was reading a couple of messageboards and I came across some info that DID "spoil" surprises for me on Buffy for this fall. This bummed me out to no end. Trailers, EW, TV guide - pretty much any "fan" or "entertainment" source will and has released information that lots of fans do NOT want to read, because they are hints or spoilers or possible spoilers of upcoming events/storylines. This happens all the time, so I don't watch/read those things until AFTER the shows are done (so I'm usually way behind in my reading of magazine articles about shows/movies I want to see/do watch).
My rule is this: if it hasn't actually happened yet on the show, put a tagline that says "spoilers or possible spoilers for upcoming season" then use spoiler tags. If it involves story that is only one season old, I put a tagline that says "as of last season..." or some such thing, then again use spoiler tags around the info. This lets the reader decide for themselves if they want to read it. The worst is when spoilers are in the thread title - that REALLY pi$$es me off. Far better to be overly considerate than ruin something for someone else. You don't have to know anyone special to know info some people would rather not know - even suspicions of what might possibly happen in the upcoming season based on something you heard or read (basically didn't come up with all on your own) is too much info for a lot of people (including me).

PS-My new TV guide says the Buffy will be on the WB on Saturdays and Sundays. It says to go to www.Buffyweekends.com, but there is nothing there.
Does anyone know anything about this? If F/X has the syndication rights, how does the WB have it too? And will these just be random episodes, reruns of last season or will they start in order too and just keep playing them from episode one up until the last show they of last season?
Either way, if you haven't gotten enough Buffy on the weekdays it looks like it's going to be on Saturdays and Sundays too!

For the benefit of all, the Buffy Weekends thing is a localized phenomenon. As I understand it, most local markets have acquired licenses for one episode a week. Here in Atlanta, it's a FOX affiliate, but I've heard of other markets using WB affiliates. It makes more sense to see it on FOX since they own those first seasons, but Buffy licensing is as jumbled as they come. In any case, it's supposed to be shown in order, from season #1, once a week. As always, check your local listings.

Okay, I saw the dreaded movie Buffy The Vampire Slayer when it was released. Then I heard there was going to be a show "based" on the movie. So, therefore,I never even bothered to watch the show thinking that it would be a dud.
My apologies*bows head in shame*
Anyway, I called At&T Broadband and ordered digital cable because, like an idiot, I assumed that they carried F/X. They had what seemed like a trillion different Discovery channels but NO F/X
Bummed?No.
Pissed?Hell yes!
Now I hear that every weekend Buffy will be FOX 8. One episode a weekend.
By the time I get to season six(it is the sixth season isn't it?) I will be a drooling, gibbering, incontinent old man with hair coming out my ears and nose and none on my head. My teeth will be in my water glass, my glasses will be so thick that I won't allowed near any sunlight for fear on setting myself on fire, my mind will be pure undiluted mush, and my penis will be a piece of wrinkled, useless flesh between my legs that not even two bottles of Viagra and pics of SMG in a dominatrix uniform could stimulate any blood flow...
Nope, can't wait that long.
And since the Buffy DVD's are non existent,it means that I will have to lower myself to the very depths of *gulp* *VHS*.
Do not worry though, I will only rent them.
