So after everyone has stopped getting it for free? Cool.

re: Quibi Streaming service - RIP 4/6/20 - 12/1/20

I'm actually quite liking Most Dangerous Game. It's a pretty intense show for something that's less than 10 minutes per episode.

As I said a few days ago, I have been using Quibi on my mile and 2 mile walks at night. It's been keeping those walks from being boring and mundane. I do like the BBC, NBC and ESPN News episodes.

The content isn't bad, but I'm torn on the price point. Do I really want to add this to my monthly expenses when I have so much other entertainment at home? and other streaming services plus HBO Max is coming next month.

I guess I could just use this as a tax write off for my line of work being that I work in the TV media.

I have been wanting to see The Fugitive. But I don't know if it's worth keeping it. Who knows if this service will make it or not.

Here's what Quibi said about their TV support for this:

You’re walking two miles while looking down at a phone watching something?

I live in the suburbs dude and walk at 8pm in a very familiar path. I pay attention where I walk.

So has anyone else watched Flipped? Because I really do enjoy that show and have laughed out loud at least once in every episode I have seen (though I have fallen behind. An episode every day is tough to keep up with even at 6 minutes each).

That's the one with Will Forte. I have been meaning to check that out.

Has anyone cancelled yet? Wonder if service continues your full 90 days.

Thanks. I usually just set a reminder and wait, but initial impressions have me pretty sure it won’t be worth the price.

re: Quibi Streaming service - RIP 4/6/20 - 12/1/20

AFAIK today is the last day to sign up for the 90 day trial. (It no longer says April 30th on the site.) I went ahead and created an account. And also set a Google Calendar reminder to cancel on July 28.

Other Quibi news:

They just posted the first episodes of 3 shows for free on YouTube: https://www.cnet.com/news/quibi-post...al-offer-ends/

Recently they sent a cease and desist to a pro-Quibi podcast, after which it morphed into an anti-Quibi podcast: https://www.huffpost.com/entry/quibi...b6b2e5b8390cf2

I get that Quibi has to set a precedent to actively guard their IP, but in a sea of negative buzz and press, why try to shut down one of the few outlets trying to promote you? (Conversely, just go into your podcast app and search for "Netflix". You'll get a ton of shows that use the term in their name and the logo in their artwork.)

Yeah StreamiVerse formerly QuibiVerse is an interstesing posdast.

There’s really no sense for Quinn to do that.

I listened to a couple of their eps and it’s in nice little 7-10 minute shows.

Now it’s. Spite-cast

re: Quibi Streaming service - RIP 4/6/20 - 12/1/20

It's ironic when a streaming service puts a sample of something on YouTube, since that provides a better viewing experience than many of those services. Especially ironic that YouTube will allow me to watch Quibi samples on my big screen when I can't watch anything from the actual service on it yet. I signed up for the free trial on my phone and verified it works, but doubt I'll have time to really watch anything on it. Somewhat amusing that they have stuff composed for both horizontal and vertical screen orientation. Hope David Lynch directs something for them

re: Quibi Streaming service - RIP 4/6/20 - 12/1/20

I had an email form quibbling the other day that had a series of questions so basically a poll of sorts.
Many of the questions asked me about allowing the stream to go onto bigger devices.

Of course in my answers I attempted to,encourage them to do that.

It occurred to me that this service would work on a Nintendo Switch. Easy to play on a big screen, good for when Switch owners are in a place with wifi for a limited amount of time.

Heck, they could bundle the ad version with Nintendo Online and really take advantage of those who need a break from Animal Crossing.

re: Quibi Streaming service - RIP 4/6/20 - 12/1/20

Reno 911! actually takes advantage of Quibi’s turnstyle in Episode 6: Big Mike’s Rocket Rascal. During the Big Mike segment when viewed in landscape, it looks like a standard widecreen TV show. But turn it to portrait and it becomes an “Instagram” style livefeed complete with header, comments, and reactions. Even the camera and angle changes from the “documentary crew” in landscape to the “cell phone” in portrait.

Jeffrey Katzenberg is acknowledging that Quibi has disappointing numbers

Streaming services are really struggling while everyone is at home doing nothing.

Funniest twitter comment I read reacting to this news - Quibi laundering money perfectly, just as intended

re: Quibi Streaming service - RIP 4/6/20 - 12/1/20

It's really hard to be a flop when you have literally charged nobody for your product yet. But Katzenberg managed to pull it off.

I guess his point is that if everyone was out at work, they would have used the service more than if they're stuck at home with easy access to TVs and other large screens. There is some truth to that. I will watch a quick show at my lunch break but never at home when I have Netflix, HBO, etc.

The only time I use Quibi is on my walks. In fact on my walk today I finished all 8 episodes of Joe Jonas' travel show "Cup of Joe" It was actually entertaining.

I still have no idea who this is for or why they'd want to pay for it. But it ain't me.

You couldn't figure that out from their marketing?

Yeah, neither could I.

It's for millennials with tons of disposable income who are unaware that You Tube exists, and for those incapable of rotating their phones 90 degrees for viewing their content.
