Re: HBO Max — Warnermedia streaming service launches May 2020

I already knew Harley Quinn seasons 1 and 2 was coming tomorrow already.

I'm not massively disappointed as I have an Apple TV 4K and can watch HBO Max on my Samsung Smart TV. But, I was hoping Roku would finally get in so more people can get in on this. And Roku is my preferred streaming device.

...are you from this planet? How do you think Twitter works? The entire point of Twitter is to sign up for an account and follow other accounts so you get notified of their tweets.

It's like asking how does one even follow email, or DVDTalk thread updates. It's just... Jesus.

Ask Alexa, tell her “follow the tweets”. Then it happens.

I don’t have twitter or at least I don’t use it except to get gold keys for Borderlands 3. Otherwise no idea what it is. When there is new code, I copy and paste in Borderlands website and that’s the extent on what I know about Twitter. I don’t believe public school teachers should have any online presence whatsoever, which is why I don’t have or don’t use Facebook...

You can have a Twitter account, hide your identity and not post anything, but still use the site. *sigh*

This could be it's own thread. I know lots of teachers...like my sister...who have an online presence. I can chat with some of my old high school teachers on FB.

Re: HBO Max — Warnermedia streaming service launches May 2020

To keep this not going way off topic, you can start a Twitter account and just follow topics like HBO Max, HBO, Variety and Deadline and others that you’re interested in and use your online alias just fine without compromising your real identity. You don’t have to post shit if you don’t want to. Or you can set it to private and just follow the topics and news agencies you’re interested in.

I know OldBoy is extremely paranoid about putting his name online, but there are private modes on all social media.

You can call your Twitter identity Old Boys car And movie vlog.fart if you want and not worry about shit.

Alright back to keeping this on topic. This is from a few days ago

I know many of you here don’t have access to this, but I love that this service allows you to have access to alternate cuts of some movies.

So am I just imagining you logging into here, or do you think you have to put your real name into twitter or something?

Let me make this easier:
Browse to:
https://twitter.com/hbomax

on lynx or Mosaic or Netscape Navigator or whatever browser you use.
Keep hitting the refresh button until something new pops up (if you're using Lynx it's Control + R. That means hold down the button on the keyboard that says "CTRL" and a the same time press the button that has an 'R' on it.)

(I hope you know I'm just teasing you, but seriously there's little harm in setting up a twitter account and following some accounts, you aren't forced to post anything. The only concern would be if you don't want to support the company, which is completely understandable)

back on topic, that announcement is super disappointing, but whatever, the crap is really about to hit the fan at the stroke of midnight when the users of the two most prevalent streaming machines lose all official access to HBO.

Verified that we can still get the non Max HBO stuff via the HBO channel (formally HBO Now) on Roku.

This is only if you have a Max login, though, right?

I wonder what they paid NBC Universal for three months worth of access for Max. Considering they don't get the rights back until 2025. Geez.

I’m sure it would be only if you have HBO logon.

Just to be clear: you can be subscribed to HBO via your provider and NOT have a MAX login. Meaning you could have had support for HBO Go (which every HBO subscriber had) and no longer be able to view shows via the unified app as of yesterday:

We have a MAX account using the HBO appo Roku. If we want to watch any of the content on MAX that is not on HBO app we have to hookup a Laptop to the TV.

Harley Quinn seasons 1 and 2 are finally up as of the 1st. I have not seen them yet as I cancelled DC Universe before they premiered. So looking forward to powering through them soon.

I watched the first episode yesterday and was pleasantly surprised. Quite funny (and super-gory actually). I liked it.

awesome. Was watching on a friends other service (almost finished S1), but will gladly use HBO Max. Probably tonight in fact. Thanks.

So in addition to the Harry Potter films, it seems like both Batman Begins and the Dark Knight are going to... Peacock. I know, I know, previous contracts. But geez.

I’m amused to think of how much account sharing happens in Oldboy’s circles.

Wow, looks like Warner Media fired 3 top executives, including 2 who were in charge of HBO Max.

Pretty big shakeup. I have to imagine that HBO Max's disappointing roll out had something to do with those suits getting canned.
