Yeah, Disney+ will keep it as safe as possible and completely ignore the older racial stuff.

I have this version on DVD. I'm not sure you can even really consider it's an "extended" cut, since it's about 30 seconds of additional footage, while missing 8 seconds of footage from the traditional US cut. Basically, some shots were cut short to avoid the R rating.

I'm not interested since there's no Roku option yet - thanks, though! - but I do have a general question about this and any future offers with this wording: Is that "new" to HBO Max or do those terms also include not having subscribed to HBO Go/Now before?

I have $60 in HBO cards just sitting there from when they were on sale at Best Buy over Christmas. I wish WB and Roku would just agree on terms already.

I think that would be fine. I just know it wouldn't work for me since I have already redeemed some HBO Now gift cards and the code would expire before my current subscription runs out.

Re: HBO Max — Warnermedia streaming service launches May 2020

Oddly enough I received an offer to add HBO Max to my DC Universe subscription for $4.99/mo. But only to the end of my yearly subscription to DCU (5 months). No details on how much it cost after that promo (I suspect full price). Seems odd that it isn't the other way around (add DCU to HBO Max).

Re: HBO Max — Warnermedia streaming service launches May 2020

Went ahead and signed up for the DCU add on. Checked every possible way to stream to big screen TV.

Roku 3 = no go (would have had to sign up as add on to existing service like Amazon or HULU).

2016 LG Smart TV = no go (no app and won't work via webOS browser).

Moto Z2 Force Edition = no go (will not natively screen mirror or cast - they disabled the software which forces customers to buy a Chromecast - did read you can Root the phone to edit 1 line of code but that voids the warranty).

2013 Laptop is in another room and would need to be brought into living room, set up on a TV tray using a wireless mouse and keyboard, and either direct connect with HDMI (limited to 1080p and unsure on top Audio quality) or WiFi wireless display connection (we've done that before and for some reason the 1080p seemed more 720p and unsure on top Audio quality).

So other than a potentially inferior remote connection to the Laptop, we may have just signed on for a $30 charge over the next 6 months we will barely use.

Here's to hoping they get the Roku deal done soon or something with LG's webOS (including our older model) soon.

What warranty? The Moto Z2 Force came out in 2017, and warranties typically last a year. Are you saying you bought it new in July 2019 or later?

We have the extended one through our provider. In addition if we brick it we have to buy a full price replacement.

And we'd much rather use our Roku or TV to stream instead of cast.

They don't seem to be in any rush to add the Roku app. I just cancelled my HBOMax subscription. Hopefully enough Roku users will cancel and they'll get off their ass and make a deal.

It's a shame. I was on the $11.99 preorder promo. At that price, I would have stayed a subscriber all year. But now, if I sign back up in the future, it'll only be for a month at a time. I'll binge watch then cancel.

Just used my HBO MAX credentials to log in to HBO NOW on our Roku. So at least for now we can watch some content.

Maybe there is hope the app will flip to MAX at some point.

Really? Wow. With HBOGO being killed maybe this will give us a way to still see regular HBO stuff like Sesame Street and other shows/movies until HBOMax and Roku get their shit together.

I went ahead and downloaded the HBOMax app to my phone before i saw your post. I figured i could take advantage of the DCU 4.99 HBOMax add on for 6mo.

I still don’t understand why we can’t get older shows that were mainstays on HBO before series’ on cable became something. I’m talking about Dream On. I so want to relive...

Wife had to replace her AT&T phone, so in the process they switched us from an old grandfathered plan to an unlimited plan with free Max.

When you open HBO GO you have to click through a page warning you it's done July 31st.

At this point then you'll never understand. It's been explained: HBO doesn't own the streaming rights, and doesn't care to put in the time/effort/money to do so. Dream On in particular may have a lot of rights issues due to the clips from other shows/films used in each episode.

It's okay to wish they were there, but wishes aren't going to make it happen. Neither is whining here. And saying you "don't understand" why they're not there, when it's been explained to you before, is annoying.

Leaving HBO Max in August

One thing that HBO Max has gotten much criticism for is losing tent pole titles so soon after launch. Unfortunately, this can also be seen in August. All of the Harry Potter films are set to leave. A very jarring move considering that they carry a very heavy presence on HBO Max’s interface. Will this stick? It wouldn’t be surprising if this decision were overturned similar to how notable DC films were set to leave, but ended up staying on the streaming service in July. Regardless, take the time to watch any gems on the chopping block below, from Corpse Bride to Kill Bill (which was also just ironically added to the platform last month).

Leaving August 25
Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets
Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1, 2010
Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2, 2011
Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, 2005
Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, 2009
Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, 2007
Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, 2004
Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone, 2001

Leaving August 28
Mr. & Mrs. Smith (Director’s Cut), 2005 (HBO)

Leaving August 31
42nd Street, 1933
A Perfect World, 1993
Adam’s Rib, 1949
Along Came Polly, 2004 (HBO)
Cabaret, 1972
Dumb & Dumber, 1994
Full Metal Jacket, 1987
Good Will Hunting, 1997
How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days, 2003 (HBO)
John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum, 2019 (HBO)
Kill Bill: Volume 1, 2003
Kill Bill: Volume 2, 2004
Love Actually, 2003 (HBO)
Magic Mike, 2012
Megamind, 2010
Misery, 1990
Monsters Vs. Aliens, 2009
Mystic River, 2003
National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation, 1989
Pee-wee’s Big Adventure, 1985
Sesame Street Presents: Follow That Bird , 1985
The Adjustment Bureau, 2011 (HBO)
The Spongebob Squarepants Movie, 2004 (HBO)
Tim Burton’s Corpse Bride, 2005
Unforgiven, 1992
Veronica Mars, 2014

How weird to lose all the Harry Potter films, especially so soon.

We have an AppleTV on the main Living Room system for HBOMAX, but Rokus on every other tv. With HBOGO leaving at the end of the month, I really need them to get it together with Roku for a deal.
