The first 4 Indiana Jones movies were all removed from Disney+

The licensing deal with Paramount, who still owns the rights, has expired.

If you have Kroger's Boost product (free shipping, other benefits), they are now offering free Hulu, Disney+ or ESPN+ as a perk. Only one and all are ad versions.
Looks like ongoing perk for $99 version, 6 month trial for $59 version.

Another price hike so I canceled. I'm not watching enough to justify it.

Price hike is pushing it but still keeping it for now, since I can use the Kodi addon to watch everything with full end credits and my VPN gets a bunch of stuff they don’t have in the US. They’ll be dropped in an instant if either of those stop working, and also trying to watch everything I’ve been meaning to in case it goes up again. They’re really dropping the ball not adding any more older titles. What they had when they started was impressive but we need more now, and why would they hold that stuff back especially when they don’t want to sell discs anymore? So much is just sitting in the vaults collecting dust.

Iger let the cat out of the bag with Disney+ and the ad supported tier.
https://9to5mac.com/2024/11/21/bob-i...subscriptions/
So staying ad-free will continue to get more and more expensive because Disney wants you on the ad-supported tier.
Fielding a question from a Wall Street analyst about the growth outlook and pricing strategy of Disney+, Iger divulged how many Disney+ subscribers take the ad-supported tier in the U.S. (37%) and globally (30%). The disclosure was unusual in the streaming sector. Netflix, for instance, has never broken out a similar percentage […]
When the Q&A with analysts moved to the next question and CFO Hugh Johnston was giving his answer, Iger’s voice suddenly could be heard on the call. “I don’t know if I was supposed to disclose those AVOD numbers,” he said, before Johnston continued speaking.

“It’s not just about raising pricing,” he said. “It’s about moving consumers to the advertiser-supported side of the streaming platform […] The pricing that we recently put into place, which is increased pricing, was actually designed to move more people in the AVOD direction because we know that the ARPU [average revenue per user] – and the interest from advertisers in streaming – has grown.”

It appears that Disney is expanding their app again. This time to add ESPN content. One step closer to a single app rather than 3.

Re: Disney+ streaming service
It way too cluttered now with ESPN+ added. I already stuck with the Hulu app for that content as it was easier to find.
If nothing else give us an app setting to turn off display of ESPN in the Disney app.

Yes, the main screen is quite crowded now. But, of course there will be some who will complain either way. You still need a paid Hulu subscription to have access to Hulu content.
The ESPN content is quite limited. And they probably want to keep it limited otherwise no one will want ESPN+

I have the bundle so my Disney+ app is loaded now with ESPN content... which I do not care about seeing in the D+ app. I rarely use ESPN+ as it is... only reason I have it is because it's included in the Verizon Disney bundle.

D+ has apparently lost 700k subscribers. But, at the same time, Hulu gained over 1m. Not sure how to parse that in terms of good or bad for Disney.

Ah. I was curious why you brought that up.
And yeah, Hulu has a pretty fantastic anime catalog.

700K is a lot. It’s not like Disney+ has been crickets on new content.
Feels like those people are probably churning streaming services to save money.

Seems like subs actually grew in the US/Canada and decreased internationally:

Disney+ globally closed out last year with 124.6 million subs, down 700,000 sequentially. That included a 1.5 million loss internationally to 67.8 million and an 800,000 gain in the U.S./Canada to 56.8 million. For the March quarter, the company is forecasting another “modest decline” in total Disney+ subscribers compared with fiscal Q1.

Having Hulu content mixed in on the Disney + app is annoying. It feels more cluttered.
