Re: Disney+ streaming service

Was able to update our Verizon plan to include the Didn't Bundle. This kept us from paying the monthly fee to Verizon while still having the 3 year prepay. Setting it all up was very easy. Our Hulu now has a $5.99 credit and we are still paying to be Ad free.

I called Disney customer service prior to doing the switch with Verizon. They confirmed our subscription we prepaid for is "paused" until the Verizon promo was over and that the first billing date will change once it is unpaused. I asked about what happens if we change to the Disney bundle through Verizon. They said same thing. The original 3 year prepaid will be paused until such a time we no longer have the bundle through Verizon.

They also said if we'd like we can request a refund which they would provide. They also said we can request a refund any time in the future considering we basically already have the active subscription via Verizon. Considering Verizon could change the plan at any time or offer a better plan for cheaper etc I chose for now to keep the prepaid at Disney because it isn't a $$ credit but rather a full 3 years of service. Only risk is if D+ changes or goes away and we cannot get the refund. Which isn't very likely.

All in all worked out good as our Verizon plan went down $20/mo ($10/line) and we no longer pay basic Hulu cost ($5.99/mo).

Every live action remake of an animated Disney movie should go straight to Disney+.

Re: Disney+ streaming service

So mods or someone else can create another thread for this if they feel compelled to - but Disney+ will have a new section called Disney 18+ coming next year. Someone posted the reel that will be present led Dec 18th at the Investor Day meeting. So this is their answer for all of the adult stuff, meaning Hulu won’t be used on that level.

I’m also hoping that’s a temporary name for it. Anything with 18+ tends to have a stigma to it.

That trailer also says Black Widow April 16th with Premiere Access. But, I think the video is fake. The “adult” section seems
to be called Disney+ Star, which is not mentioned in the trailer: https://whatsondisneyplus.com/disney-star-coming-soon/

That reel was mentioned on Twitter this morning. Some think it’s fake.

Re: Disney+ streaming service

It’s got to be fake. There are so many random dates they have on movies that just seems silly.

Re: Disney+ streaming service

Yeah that video is definitely fake. I watched it again and it says Disney + is getting The Good Doctor. And that’s impossible because it’s a Sony Pictures property. They just signed a multi year streaming deal for the show on Hulu.

Re: Disney+ streaming service

They should name that section Disney+: After Dark.

I'm afraid once they do make that section on D+, they'll pull all of their grown up fare off of Hulu, killing the service off in the process. Given that I mostly consume TV, I think I watch it more than any other paid service. Sure, I could then watch the Disney-owned shows on D+, but what about the series (and movies) I watch there that are from other studios?

At the very least, I hope I don't have to enter a PIN every time I venture into that section. I think I heard someone elsewhere speculate that.

"Disney+ After Dark", I like it and it's reminiscent of "Disneyland After Dark", a term they already use. Hulu is not available outside the US, and I don't believe there are any plans to change that, while Disney+ is practically worldwide, so it makes much more sense for them to add the mature shows in a separate part of Disney+ which other countries will have access to, it's the simplest option for them .

Star is the name of a service they have in India (I think).

Re: Disney+ streaming service

They just announced a new Star tile for 18+ audiences. It features adult content 18 or older. It features 21st Century studios and FX content.

The Star tile I think is only for outside the USA.

Re: Disney+ streaming service

Based on what I see, they are keeping all of that to Hulu. Will have new Fox content exclusive to Hulu.

Re: Disney+ streaming service

Yeah Hulu is only available in the U.S., so it makes sense for international viewers to get something different integrated into Disney +

The Star tile is indeed for international viewers for those who don't have Hulu.

Disney has revealed more details of its international launch of general entertainment streaming service Star.

The service will launch as a branded tile on its Disney+ platform in Europe, Canada, Australia and New Zealand and Singapore on February 23, 2021. The company will increase the price of the Disney+ service to reflect this, to €8.99 in continental Europe and with a “similar adjustment” in other markets.

Rebecca Campbell, Chairman, International Operations and Direct-to-Consumer, The Walt Disney Company made the announcement as part of its four-hour investor presentation.

She said that the service will include TV series and films from Disney Television Studios and FX as well as from its Disney library. “It will add a robust collection of our best original general entertainment films and series,” she said.

Re: Disney+ streaming service

This presentation, where they gave a public link for the peons but basically don't show any of the trailers, is terrible.

It’s an investor call isn’t? Not D23. They don’t show trailers during investment calls.
edit: Well, looks like they are treating us.

Re: Disney+ streaming service

Disney + goes up to $8/month in March 2021.

With what they have planned coming out in the next 24 months, it's so worth it. I'm still under my 3 year deal for 2 more years. But, once it's up I'll sign up for whatever year long deal they offer.

Yea. I didn’t realize it was whole big day of presentations. I thought today was just the standard quarterly call with some updates.

I still 2 of my 3 yrs left and I get it for free through Verizon. Even with price increase, the content that is coming is staggering. Bring it.
