Re: Disney+ streaming service - November 12, 2019 launch
I think there is enough original content, docu series and especially movies until the big Marvel series’ like Loki and Wandawhatevervision. People will continue. I mean Disney is basically a conglomerate with all the properties they own and will continue to acquire. People will be fine. Disney far exceeds any other streaming by miles imo and they did it right with a great amount of beloved content and more original stuff, even if just retros or Goldblum exploring something wacky...

There's hundreds and hundreds of hours of content on Disney + right now and more to come in the years to come.
I have the 3 year, $4 per month subscription, so that was a no brainer for me to subscribe and have so much shit to watch in the next 3 years.
I don't want to make any assumption about someone's personal preferences and how much money they can spend, but even at $6.99/month or $70, it's a great value IMO. But, it seems like some only like subscribing to stuff in spurts to save a few bucks when they aren't actively watching it regularly.

Rumor is the Hawkeye show is being delayed --- possibly canceled. Could be because of Renner's legal issues.

I canceled after Episode 8 of the Mandalorian. I'm just not interested in 95% of the content on the service right now, and the stuff that I do like I either own or don't have any interest in watching again. I'll resubscribe when they release more original content.

I think that's one of the reasons they offered a lot of deals/free years through various services...they knew after the first year of Mandalorian aired there was going to be a gap before all the Marvel stuff and other new series hit. If you signed up for monthly rather than a yearly deal, I agree you're probably safe in signing off until at least this fall.

I don't think there is anyone in this forum from the UK, but Disney has moved up the release of D+ to March 24th.
https://deadline.com/2020/01/disney-plus-mandalorian-when-uk-launch-date-changed-pricing-cost-1202836570/
However, let's be honest though. It's highly likely the most in Europe who wanted to see The Mandalorian already pirated it.

The Disney+ European launch date has been brought forward by a week to March 24. The studio has also confirmed pricing of £5.99/€6.99 ($8) per month, or £59.99/€69.99 for an annual subscription.
The service will be available on that date in UK, Ireland, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Austria, and Switzerland. Additional Western Europe markets, including Belgium, the Nordics, and Portugal, will follow in summer 2020.

Yeah, imagine if you've been in Europe trying to avoid spoilers...there's no way you don't know about Baby Yoda - and that was one of the best "surprises" in the Star Wars Universe since we learned about Luke's father.

I asked this in a different thread whether people who subscribe to new services actually care about or view the calalog content as being important and it seemed like a resounding yes. However, it seems like Disney + is hit and miss since their older content is mostly animation and family programs. And like ^^^ him, the Disney + catalog content isn't priority viewing with so much new stuff constantly coming out on other services.

Catalog content can simultaneously be seen as important and not be a compelling incentive to watch right away. It's the classic "it's nice to have" thing.
It's kind of a weird thing. If you have kids who are interested in this kind of content at all, it's a no brainer, especially if they haven't had Disney Channel before. But for hardcore fans, you probably already own or have at the very least watched all the Marvel and Star Wars movies, so as nice as they are to have available, they aren't new. Same with Simpsons (though part of that may be the pain of watching in a terrible aspect ratio).
I will say if you've never watched Gravity Falls before, go do that now.
edited to add: also if you have kids in middle school (or really of any age) watch Bluey:

I know I've seen this posted but I don't recall which thread it was in and can't locate it.
I signed up for the bundle through Disney+. How do I upgrade it to the add-free version of Hulu when I'm paying the bundle price?

Pretty sure that walks you though it:

The bottom line is if you want ad-free Hulu you need to create the account before you sign up for the Disney+ bundled deal.
Thanks for the info anyway!

That makes sense. I locked into the 3 year deal since the monthly price was great, but I haven't booted up the service since the Mandalorian finale. Personally, I probably would've canceled after that episode otherwise since it looks like it'll be a while before the next adult-appealing show pops up. (I don't have kids.) I'd like to work my way through the Marvel and Star Wars movies in 4K, but they aren't priority since I've already seen them several times over (albeit in lower res) and other services are constantly putting out new shows that look interesting.

I have zero problem with their content. Even the lack of it. I am working my way through the imagineering documentary with my son. Still several flicks I need to see.

If you're solely into this for only "New Movies" "New shows" and such, of course you're going to be disappointed. It's a 1st year service and the plan from the beginning was to launch new content over the next 2-3 years, They aren't going to have everything in year 1.
I don't know why anyone would think they lack content right now. They have hundreds and hundreds of hours of catalog content and more is coming in the months and years ahead. This is not DC Universe
But, I suppose if you're a middle aged man with no kids and no family then maybe, just maybe a Disney streaming service may not be right for you to keep year round?

My son and I also started Gravity Falls. Another really great show I missed when it first came out.

Lion King 2019 is available as of today on Disney Plus. So if you were that guy who refused to see it in theatres and have Disney Plus, here's your chance.

We tried out Bluey, OMG that's some funny stuff. My kids are absolutely loving it, as am I. This is like Australia's answer to Peppa Pig. Kids show with some sly adult stuff.

My kids want to do the xylophone game now with me and mommy. So now we randomly freeze throughout the house. It's tiring, but fun.

The one downside to this show is my kids are always asking me why I'm not as fun as Bluey's dad. Maybe because he has a gigantic house, works from home, and yet never has to do any work. I should move to Australia.

Re: Disney+ streaming service - November 12, 2019 launch
So they announced the slate of what's coming onto the service in Feb. The usual shows, for the most part, but I was surprised they're bringing Marvel Future Avengers, which is basically a 2017 anime series done by Madhouse that was never even shown here, not even on Crunchyroll or anything. I assume they're dubbing it as well.
I mean, I doubt we'll get tokusatsu Spider-man or anything but man I can dream.
