Re: Disney+ streaming service - November 12, 2019 launch
For those that have already signed up for the 3 year promotion, can you tell me if the membership runs through November 2022 and not August 2022? Thank you.

unfortunately I don't have that capability through the fire stick, so I will probably start off with this on the PS4 and go from there.... hoping they reach a deal by the end of the year if not, I might splurge on a roku stick on black friday...

I jumped on deal. Signed in with a very old log in. Joined D23. Offer showed up in less than 6 hours.
I downgraded my uverse package to save me $30ish a month. It’s their lowest package. I’ll likely drop it all together at some point?
I already have CBS+.

I signed up the other day and got the e-mail a day later. I was considering the ESPN/Hulu bundle, but the price was too good to pass up.
I may end up keeping Netflix but we’ll see.

Still no email link and still no "view my account" link even on my laptop. Not sure what to do.

It says go to d23.com and tap view my account in the top right-hand menu, which I don't have. I'm at d23.com and signed in, not sure what to do now.

From that menu, click on Join D23 and join at the general level.

Ugh, apparently I wasn't a member. I've been able to login since, oh, 2009, but that was different than being a D23 member. No link yet, so sometime in the next 24 hours, it says.
Okay, thank you.

I do think Netflix will be ok, but even without this particular deal, Disney+ is aggressively priced and Disney content is/was a major part of their portfolio. Anecdotally, unless they implement some kind of annual discount or something I'm probably going to drop it for months at a time because my kids are a large reason I keep the sub year round.
That said, the separation of content between Hulu and Disney+ due to age rating gives Netflix some advantage for people without kids and the few who have no interest in any of the Disney products.

Will Disney+ be available on 2nd or 3rd generation Apple TV devices?
I ask because I just got Hulu Live, only to find out my my Apple TV device doesn’t support the live portion (since it’s not 4th generation). So just watching it via computer now, but will pick up a Firestick.
But then I see that Disney+ isn’t supported on the Firestick, so now I’m researching more on which device supports the most streaming platforms that I will use - Netflix, Hulu Live, Disney+

They haven’t release any details on streaming devices yet, but I’m guessing they will have to be with the most current 2 generations. But no Fire Stick - yet.

Okay, signed up, crisis averted, just waiting for November 12 so I can watch Empire Strikes Back on a continuous loop.

Today is the last day for the 3 year $141 deal.
That runs just under $4 per month. I know not everyone wants to make that kind of commitment, so it’s up to you.

Tempted to pull the trigger but at most I'll have it a third of the time like the rest of the services in my rotation (Amazon, Netflix, Hulu, HBO)

Wanting to pull the trigger ... guess I’m racing the clock to see if a link shows up ...
For just a little more than a year of Amazon Prime? I may dump Amazon. (Actually, I should. Since I have three students in the house, including my wife, I’m not sure why I’m still paying full price.)

I got the notification a few days ago and signed up. $4 a month is nice for something I was willing to pay $7 a month for.

Went to bed sad last night ... figured I missed the boat.
About 10:30 this morning I received the e-mail and they honored the offer.

Ugh. OK. That was foul. Still happy though.

I feel like for as good of a deal as it seems if I get it and don’t use it enough to justify the cost then it isn’t really worth it. I know there are things on it I’ll want to watch but still. I’d be more willing to pay for a few months or maybe at most a year in advance.

I went all in for the $144 for three years; my one hope is the classic Wonderful World of Disney stuff eventually makes its way to the platform. Given how spendy a lot of the old Disney Treasures DVDs are, that for me would make the service worth it for that reason alone.

I was same way. I had a very old account so the first page let me sign in. But I had to “join” the D23 part. Then the offer showed up in about 6 hours.
