DC Universe streaming service

Re: DC Universe streaming service
It would interesting to see it grouped by Decade. Most of the content feels stale. I can't imagine many people are interested in cheesy Super Friends cartoons and old Lois & Clark episodes.
The biggest problem with DC Universe is the best content is all licensed to other services. The Arrowverse & Gotham shows. The recent DCU movies. How can you have a DC streaming service without the best DC shows/movies?

But to have a second service started by the company to be the place where all the Arrowverse shows are going to go to, all the DC movies are going to, Doom Patrol is going to, and then on top of that to announce several DC originals made for that second service? And then this CW nonsense? This is basically the Titans (for now) network plus cartoons and comics. And we aren't even getting the direct to video cartoons day and date anymore.

Re: DC Universe streaming service
I've come to grips with the fact early on that they can make money by licensing their properties out to other services. I thought it was really crappy to have to rotate core DC movies in and out but ok. I also understood why the latest DC movies weren't on here due to contractual obligations or whatever.

I think one problem is that they need to market it less as the ultimate destination for all things DC, and more like a comic service which gives you access to DC programing. The service is two dollars cheaper than Marvel Now!, and also has a comic library with almost as many comics as it, while being two dollars cheaper. Truthfully it seems like a pretty good deal in that respect.
Also, I don't have the Marvel service right now but it seemed like it was a lot more complete than this DC version back when I had it.

Like many of you, I'm not re-upping...I'll probably wind up getting HBO Max and waiting for what DC stuff shows up there.

You never know. I mean had DC Universe front loaded this service with EVERYTHING they could like Disney+ wisely did...no one would be wondering about the decision to put old 70's and 80's DC shows on there.

anyone know if you cancel the service, will it let you run out the year or do they cancel immediately and refund you a prorated amount? I want to cancel before it renews again, but I still need to finish up Titans, and then catch a few episodes of the Harley Quinn show.

I had the 1 year free from WB Insiders. I tried to cancel about a week before my subscription ended. The site wouldn't let me.
So I sent a request to their support. They replied that since the initial subscription didn't have a payment method, it would just expire.
I am assuming you did the prepayment. I'd still reach out to their support team.

So I've decided I won't renew when my subscription expires. It will renew at $59.99 on 12/31. Debated about this, but I don't read the digital comics and there's not enough fresh content to keep it from going stale. I don't have time to watch old episodes of Lois and Clark, Shazam and Birds of Prey. The animated movies are okay, but they aren't really mandatory viewing.
I just finished Titans season 2 tonight. I'll renew monthly when it comes back next year.
I have like 7 episodes of Doom Patrol to finish. Will likely be getting HBO Max in the Spring and will just watch season 2 on there.
With Harley Quinn just premiering, I can probably get 5 episodes in before I cancel. I'll binge the rest next year.

Same. I’m done, but if it's still around in a year or so (and not folded into HBO Max) I’ll subscribe for a month for season 3 of Titans. At this point I just need to decide whether or not to try to binge Swamp Thing while I can.

I'm re-upping but god dammit I want a coupon for 59.99!

Re: DC Universe streaming service
DC Universe just sent me an email. They offered me a $15 discount off the regular annual renewal rate for being a founding subscriber.
so instead of $74.99, it’s $59.99 for the annual renewal. Hmmm, I said previously unless they offered me a discount I would likely cancel, but now I may stick around.
They just renewed Titans, Harley Quinn and Stargirl are coming. And I did win a sweepstakes I entered on the site. So it’s not a complete dumpster fire going out of business.
But going into year 2, they’re going to have a really hard tIme getting new subscribers. Hell, it’s going to be even worse when HBO Max launches.

Basically if you've never subscribed and want to watch Titans s1 or 2 or Doom Patrol, do it now, I guess.

It seems like this 59.99 offer is good for everyone until early next year. Plus the month to month is 5.99 instead of 7.99, but I think that's some kind of promotion.

I didn't get that offer, but it wouldn’t have brought me back. Besides, isn’t Stargirl going to also be on CW anyway? I have zero reason to renew this until it’s time to binge Titans S3, assuming it’s even still on this service by then.

What I'm saying is that you don't need to get this offer in email, it's open to everyone (though I'm not sure if you'll get it automatically if you're set to autorenew). So if you just wanted to binge for a month that 5.99 deal is decent, or if you really love comics reup for a year and see what happens.

Holy crap that is a lot to lose and not much being added. I just got charged for this today. Think it’ll be my last month until the third season of Titans. It seems weird to me that all those animated films are going away. I can see more with the live action films that they can license those out. The animated stuff though feels meant for a service like this.

Re: DC Universe streaming service
Yeah I just cancelled yesterday. I still have like 6 episodes of Doom Patrol to finish before my subscription runs out on the 30th.
I'd like to try Harley Quinn, but don't know if I have enough time to catch the ones that have aired.
But, the in and out content is pretty ridiculous at this point. I just checked the DC Universe Facebook page and there are many who are unhappy about this. I know they go back and forth and bring old content in and out, but it's getting kind of annoying at this point, especially when the library is so small already.
I really don't know how they can survive now with all the competition and then in May when HBO Max will have all DCEU content as well as Doom Patrol.

The Facebook blurb for their article is almost insulting:
The "and more!" part is basically Harley Quinn episodes. And they're basically losing half of their animated movie library in one go.
#DCUNIVERSE is starting 2020 with a bang! See what’s coming in January, including: WONDER WOMAN: BLOODLINES, BATMAN BEYOND Seasons 2 & 3 Remastered in HD, and more!

Just cancelled this along with Netflix. Currently paying for Disney+ and YouTube Premium. I’ll be starting up CBS All Access again for Star Trek: Picard. There’s just not enough on this to justify having it.

Weird, it says I cancelled and the current sub will run out 12/29. I didn't cancel though.
But I see they still have the annual for 59.99 so I'll re-up in few days.

Re: DC Universe streaming service
Despite my complaining I re-upped for the 60 pricepoint. Compared to other services, it's not "worth" it and they are doing a terrible job of enticing new people to subscribe (which is the only way this will survive) but I really do love DC and I love the Harley show and want to support it. Plus at least my son and I can probably watch all of Batman Beyond instead of spending the 60 bucks on buying the set.
